Introduction
Employment relation refers to the term in which employees and employers are obliged
towards each other to maintain better agreement between both the parties (Paring, and Pezé,
2021). This is a program which helps an organization to formulate effective human resource
strategy for the company. For the purpose of maintaining employee relation the employer has
effective strategies in which they are responsible to maintain effective work life balance of
employees with their benefits and pay provided by them and also provide safe and healthy
working conditions to them for their better future. To understand this report and case study
Sainsbury’s company is selected. Sainsbury's is the largest supermarket chain of United
Kingdom which became the largest retailer of groceries in London. This report contains
importance of employees relation in cells vary in order to explain the rights obligations and
duties of employers and employees in the organization towards each other. This report also
contain stakeholder analysis of Sainsbury’s in order to identify the engagement of employees
in the employment relation in the company. This employee relation has both positive as well
as negative impact on the functions of a company.

Employee relation is an important aspect which helps an organization to build effective
relationships between different departments groups and workforce so that the organization
can be able to enhance productivity of their employees (Narayana, 2021). This employee
relationship concept is generally used in large organizations like Sainsbury’s in which it is
very essential to resolve various kinds of personal issues between the employees and the
employer and manage the chances that can be associated of rising any kind of conflicts. This
employee relationship helps to maintain good working environment in the organization and
help the organization to achieve success in the market. Good bond and relation between the
employees provide effective importance and value to the organization that has been described
below:
Importance as well as value of employee relations in Sainsbury’s
Less chances of workplace conflicts: Good relationships between employer and employee
reduces the chances of workplace conflicts which is the major issue which has been faced by
large organizations. Sainsbury's has a large number of employees in the organization and

good relationship among employee and employer will help the company to reduce the
chances of conflicts and enhanced productivity of employees.
Enhanced Productivity: Less complex and good relation between the employees and
employer helps an organization to have a better focus on the enhancement of productivity of
employees which helps the company to achieve their goals and objectives effectively (Jiajun,
and Junyi, 2020). The employee relation in Sainsbury’s help them to enhance the productivity
of employees in the company by providing them effective training and cooperation the
employees and employers have between them.
Retain employees: Good employee relationship helps to create effective environment for
employees in the organization which is a great chance to retain employees with the
organization. Sainsbury's has affected employee relationship which creates a good working
environment for their employees and helps them to retain in the organization and being loyal
to the company.
Effective communication: Effective employee relation is also essential for an organization
to build effective communication between employers and employees so that they can be able
to understand each other point of view and provide effective productivity to the company. It
is due to the effective relationships between employees and employers that Sainsbury’s has a
good communication system in the organization and follows an effective chain of
communication.
Employment Laws
Legislations and laws that are related to the employment in the organisation is very essential
for a business to follow because it is the right of employees. If an organization provides the
rights to the employees then the employees will be loyal to the organization and will help the
company to build effective relations between the employer and employee. If the
organizational bodies does not follow these laws then it will be result in negative implications
on the organization such as anytime the fines and charges and sometimes can result in
imprisonment also. Some of the laws that are related to the employment are given below:
Health and Safety work Act: This act provides for the managers to create healthy and safe
environment for the employees and provide them profit training in case of any kind of work
that can harm the safety of the employees (Opoku, Apenteng, and Boakye, 2021). This act
preserves regulations that are required to be followed by the organization to preserve health
of the employees and find their employees to be an effective and important assets of the
company. In case of Sainsbury’s the company always follows the rules and regulations that

are provided in the health and safety work act 1974 and provide special training and
programs to their employee so that they can be well experienced in their technologies and
machines which can affect their health and safety in the company.
National Minimum Wage Act 1998: Minimum wages act is an act which helps an
organization to decide the minimum wages in the company on the basis of the work they are
doing in the organization (Staples, and Whittall, 2021). The minimum wages and salary that
has been provided in the Sainsbury's is decided on the basis of minimum wages act 1998 and
generally good salaries are provided to the employees which create an effective relation
between employer and employee in the organization and help the organization to prevent
themselves from any kind of legal implications.
Suggestions to Sainsbury’s
There are many suggestions that can be made to Sainsbury’s in order to improve employee
relations at a given below
 Every employee in the company requires fair treatment from Sainsbury’s and
employers are expected to provide good and effective treatment to all the employees.
No employee should be discriminated in the organization and create an effective
working environment in the organization. Effective training should be provided to all
the employees so that they will not feel boredom in their organization and routine
work and find their jobs to be interesting.
 The higher authority of Sainsbury's is also suggested to use effective methods that are
used by many organization to provide appraisals and report to their employees.
Rewards and appraisals helps the organization to provide motivation to the work force
and create effective relationship between the managers and employees in the
company.
 In order to deal with the competition in the market sensor is required to provide
opportunity to their employees to grow and develop so that they can get job
satisfaction for the long-term and find themselves to be loyal to what's the company to
provide effective services to the customers (Westwood, 2020). This job satisfaction
among employees will help Sainsbury’s to build effective relationships between
employees.

abilities in the organization. There are various different departments in Sainsbury's who work
collectively to achieve the objectives and goals of the company. The rights duties and
obligations that are followed by both employee and employer in ovaries are given below:
Rights and Duties of Employer
 It is a right and duty of the employer to provide safe workplace to their employees in
Tesco for which the employer uses different colors of codes to provide labels for the
hazard a machine contains that is used in the organization for stop in case of any kind
of misuse the organization has a warning quotes to provide to the employees to handle
the equipment with care and save them from any kind of potential hazard.
 It is the right and duty of the employer to provide effective information to the
employees about any kind of external changes that can we made in the organization to
remain in the competition and also take innovative ideas from the employees so that
the company can be able to overcome the situation (Rudnytska, and Rudnytska,
2020).
Obligation of employer
 It is an obligation of an employer in Sainsbury's is to provide equal treatment to each
and every employee without any kind of discrimination on the basis of race, caste and
religion and many more.
 Another obligation on employer is to maintain a proper record of their employees
with their personal details and also it is the duty of employer to provide and store this
confidential information of employees in a confidential manner and update it
regularly.
Rights and Duties and employees
 It is the right as well as duty of the employees to get effective training from an
organization so that they can be able to carry out their day to day activities. In case of
Sainsbury’s the company has a proper training system for their employees and which

the employees are able to get effective skills that are related to their work understand
the situation of customers so that they can be able to solve their problems.
 A different kind of right and duty pulses will provide in case of sensor used to provide
their opinion and case of decision making of the company. The valuable opinion of
employees helps and worries to directly interact with their customers with the help of
a proper interaction and observation which has been shared with the employer.
Obligations of employees
 It is a legal obligation of employee to sign a mutual consignment with the employer to
fulfill the guidelines that has been provided in the employment contract (Liu, and
Nemoto, 2021).
 Worker and employee should comply all the policies and processes as well as
instructions that has been provided by the manager in a proper manner so that they
can be able to create effective working environment for them and other employees
also.

contribution can support positive employment relationships
Shareholder Analysis
Stakeholder analysis refers to the identification of people and group who is interested in the
business of the organization. There are various activities of a business which influence the
behavior of people and group in the organization on the basis of their capability and skills.
There are various kinds of stakeholders for an organisation that is the Government employees
is customer’s investors and many more. It is essential for an organisation to analyze and
identify their stakeholders in order to communicate them effectively and carry out business
activities. The organisation is required to keep their stakeholders satisfy and manage them
closely so that they can be able to keep them informed about the activities of the
organization. This will help the company to monitor their interest in the organisation in
effective manner.
Positive Impact of stakeholder’s engagement on the employment relations
Practice in which an organization is able to influence their stakeholders to remain the part of
the organization is known as a stakeholder engagement (Prasad, Vaidya, and Mangipudi,
2020). The employee’s relation in the organization is directly connected with the stakeholder
engagement as the recruitment of effective employees why the manager and allocation of

work according to their interest will enhance the productivity of the organization which
satisfies the internal as well as external stakeholders of the company to work effectively.
Connection between the profitability of stakeholders and objectives of Sainsbury’s
The main objective of Sainsbury’s is to provide effective retailing services to their customers
and providing them goods and services on prices lower than their competitors. The search the
company to gain effective profitability and which has been shown in their financial
statements on regular basis. Please financial statements helps the investors and government
who are the stakeholders of the company to identify the financial position of the organization
and invest more amount to gain more profitability. In this manner the profitability of
stakeholders and objective of these are interrelated with each other.
Rewards: It is an important element for internal stakeholders of the company which helps to
build effective relations in the organization. Sainsbury's has a proper appraisal and reward
system to be followed in the organization which helps them in their stores to have effective
management and attain targets in terms of their customers. Sainsbury's provides a target to
their employees above which the employees are rewarded in centers which helps the
company to make more sales and satisfy their employees in effective manner. In order to
satisfy customers as a stakeholder in the organization the company offers loyalty cards and
have a discounts which helps to maintain effective relations with their stakeholders.
An analysis of the impact of both positive and negative employee relations on different
stakeholders
An organization has different kinds of stakeholders who have both positive as well as
negative impact on the employee relationship (Prasad, Vaidya, and Mangipudi, 2020). The
various kinds of stakeholders of Sainsbury’s with their positive and negative impact on the
employee relation are given below:
Employees.
Employees are the most important part for having a positive or negative impact on the
employee relationship. In case of Saint Mary's the employees are required to be concerned so
that they can be able to accomplish and achieve the goals and objectives of the company.
Positive impact: If an employee is concerned as well as consider the goals and objectives of
the business over their personal goals then they will be able to put a positive impact on the
employee relationship in the organization. In order to put a positive impact in employee

relation and employee is required to give best possible efforts to reduce the absenteeism rate
in the organization.
Negative impact: If an employee shares a negative relation with other employees can create
dissatisfaction in the organization not only for this that employee but it can also create an
issue for another employees in the organization. It will be motivate the employees and will
affect their productivity and internal atmosphere of the company. So employees are the most
important part which has a direct impact on the employee relation in the company.
Customers
Customers are another stakeholders who are directly related to the business and can have
positive as well as negative effect on the employee relations
Positive: The positive impact of customers on employee relation is that they provide revenue
to the company and serving to customers are the most important responsibility of employees
in the organization. Providing effective quality of products and serving the changing
requirements to the customers will help the company to enhance the loyalty of their
employees and affect the employee relationship in the organization.
Negative. High competition in the market and large availability of substitute can affect the
demand of the customers and reflect in the lack of proper relationships with the customer and
the employees in the organization due to which the customers can switch to the competitors
in the same industries. In case of Sainsbury’s, there is a large competition in the market and
in effective relationships of employees in the organization can lead to switching off
customers to another competitors (Prasad, Vaidya, and Mangipudi, 2020).
Conclusion
The above discussion helps to conclude that effective relationship between the employees and
employer helps the organization to provide better communication and higher value to the
organization and enhance the relationship between the internal stakeholders of organization.
This will help Sainsbury’s to achieve their goals and objectives and provide sustainability to
the company. Effective relation between employees provides good productivity to the
company and effective services to the customers which help the organization to achieve their
objectives importantly and helps to maintain good communication with different types of
stakeholders in the company. This also helps the organization to avoid and overcome the
chances which can arose conflicts in the organization. In the absence of employee
relationship there can be an internal competition which reduces the cooperation between the

employees but a good understanding between employees and employers can replace the
sentinel competition to be a cooperative and sustainable for the organization.
