There are several reasons of selecting this topic and one of the main reasons among them
to make aware to all companies about importance of workplace equality. By conducting this
report and discussing negative effects of workplace discrimination, gender based
discrimination; employers can be made aware that how it can affects their overall performan
productivity and image. This study will discuss issues of workplace discrimination along wi
strategies for reducing them which can help companies in accomplishing their business goal
So, helping people and organizations is one of the main reasons.

Discrimination at workplace affects employees and employers in a negative manner which
directly affects productivity. So, for making all retailers able to understand importance of
workplace diversity and equality and how by promoting it they can improve their image in t
market this topic is being selected. This is one of the main effectiveness of this topic that it h
wider scope as it can be beneficial at academic and commercial level. Managing equality is
important for all people and institutes whether they are organization, school and families. So
by discussing ways of diversity management, this study can help boost confidence of
employees.
Theme 1: Effects of workplace discrimination on performance of employees
Workplace discrimination or unfair and unequal treatment at workplace with employe
have several negative effects on performance of employees. According to the BAI,
GHANBARPOUR and Soleymani, (2019) When employers discriminate their employees
especially on the basis of gender then it reduces morale and de-motivate employees. It affec
their concentration ability on work which increases errors and become reason of poor quality
products. De-motivated employees are less likely to stay with the company which increases
staff turnover rate and affect image of the company.
Theme 2: Current practices of Sainsbury’s for promotion of diversity at workplace
It is stated that Sainsbury’s follows all rules and acts and implement appropriate polici
regarding discrimination. As per the Tamzid and Parves, (2017) anti discrimination act, it
allows all of their employees to treat with each others in a fair and effective manner. It is als
found that it provides incentives and rewards scheme for motivating them and making them
able to adapt changes and do not resist to workplace diversity and equality at workplace. Th
both strategies and current practices allow Sainsbury’s to promote diversity and employ
different cultures of people without resistance.
Theme 3: Positive effects of equality and diversity at workplace for employees and
employers.
Equality and diversity at workplace or fair treatment with all employees have benefits
both employees and employers Hebson and Rubery, (2017) stated that when employers treat
their employees in a fair manner then it motivates and make employees feel valued. Motivat
employees are more likely to support their company in accomplishing goals and bring
