Charity which supports children, young people and their families affected by Brain Tumour
Diagnosis. This Charity has a specific dedicated service for young adults and teenagers which
helps in connecting them with others who are facing similar experience (Andrews, and Russell,
2012). Some students are allowed to work in teams and for identifying fundraising. There are
two parts in this report which discusses about experience of individual while collecting funds for
the charity. The first part includes audit and evaluation of skills. The second part includes
Personal development research Planning.
Audit and evaluation of skills
Provide an overview of your skills development in the team task
Skill development plays an important role in the success of the any project. An individual
who has developed his skills and abilities while doing work is the one who can succeed in his
life. The team chosen for collecting funds was amazing (Chalamwong, and et. al., 2012). It
worked at highest efficiency and reacts responsively in different situation. There were different
skills that all individuals of team have to possess while doing work. These are mentioned below -
Teamwork skills – Teamwork is an essential skill that is required for working well with
teammates or group mates. There is need for every team member to get involved within the team
for achieving the desired results. Team members are engaged for doing their work effectively
then only they are able to succeed in their task or role (Cunningham and Hillier, 2013). Good
teamwork helps in boosting confidence while contributing ideas into the project work. When our
team was doing the fundraising, we all were doing great teamwork. All members supported each
other in need. Teamwork is basically the collaborative effort of the group for achieving a comm
on goal or objective. Because of the good teamwork it was seen that our team “Brain Saviours”
raised 113 pounds. It is essential for each and every team mate to work effectively so that more
funds are collected for the charity. The teamwork skills are defined as abilities and qualities
which allows for working well with others during the conversation. Having effective teamwork
skills is dependent on the ability for communicating well and being honest (de Guzman, and

Choi, 2013). When teamwork is done in empathetic manner and responsible way, it is easy to
accomplish the goals and objectives in effective manner.
Communication skills – An effective communication skill leads to good working and
achievement of goals and objectives. Communication skills helps in understanding each and
every person effectively and making conclusions. Communication skills is very important as it
makes bridge for starting any conversation. While doing work together and collecting funds,
there were various skills which are developed within teams. These include active listening,
adapting the communication style to the audiences, friendliness, confidence and providing
feedback. Active listening means the individuals within team are paying very close attention to
person who is speaking to you (Deeley, 2014). It is essential to have empathy for all team
members as it allows for better understanding and trust for each other. It is analysed that
individuals have to adopt different style of communication in different situations. For making the
best use of communication skill, it is essential to analyse the respondents and way by which they
must be communicated. While raising the fund, there are different people whom the team is
meeting with. Every person is different so there is need for talking to them in different manner.
There are some characteristics such as honesty and kindness which are developed while fostering
trust and understanding. When team workers are doing job there are some small gestures like
how they are doing, smiling, nodding and offering praise for their work is helpful for fostering
productive relationship (Dhar, 2012). It is also essential that within the dynamic of teamwork,
each and every party involved understand the work for what they are responsible for.
Research skills – The research skills means the team has enough knowledge for
collecting funds. It is essential that all the team members are using their intellectual and
knowledge while communicating message to people (Durrani, and Tariq, 2012). They have
proper knowledge about the tumour affected individuals. He research skills are helpful for
managing all work effectively.
Planning - The process for planning is the first and foremost aspect for starting any
project or work. All the team members are so effective for making plans and decisions regarding
activities involved in doing work. The ability for thinking about the process and successfully
managing activities by using effective resources for achieving goals is defined as an individual's
planning skills. Planning includes developing a roadmap which guides on completing task and
activity before actually attempting it. The planning skills plays an important role in the success

of project or work (Gbadamosi, and et. al., 2015). It is helpful in strengthening the competitive
moves.
Decision making – This is an essential skill required for making effective decisions. A
good interpretor or investigator must have the ability to make effective decisions. Decisions
made by the researcher must be effective and strong so that they people can make outcomes and
results from these interpretations.
Problem solving – The problem solving skills help an individual to use logic, imagination
for making sense in different situations. If team members are having problem solving skills then
a lot of skills are developed such as analytical skills, creative thinking skills, flexibility and team
working (Haasler, 2013). The team members must have good problem solving skills so that all
the negative situations that arise while raising fund are overcome.
Organising - Also, it is essential for being honest within the team. This means the
sharing of disagreement. If there is no transparency within team members then it is difficult for a
team for developing trust and working effectively. It is essential that every individual must
develop the skill for developing and organising work. Staying organised while doing work is
important for accomplishing work or project.
Time management Another skill required for doing good team work is time
management. Individuals must know how to manage time in an effective manner. Managing time
effectively helps in grabbing success while doing work. Time management skills includes

There are two important skills which must be developed for doing good team work. The
task given to the student is fundraising for Brain Tumour Charity. This charity supports young
people, children and families which are affected by the brain tumour diagnosis. This charity
provides support to the brain tumour patient's families. They put on Family fun days for families
for having days out together and operating Family Facebook group so families meet other
parents of brain tumours. This charity also has a specific dedicated service for adults and
teenagers which help in connecting them with others who are facing similar experience. There
are following two important skills which are needed for students who are collecting funds for
this charity. These skills are explained below -
2.1 Teamwork skill
It is essential that all the team members working in the team have team development
skills. This means that they are doing great job while working in teams (Ju, Zhang, and Pacha,
2012). All the team members are working collaboratively and collectively for achieving the
desired goals. There are various teamwork skills that are needed by team members for doing
their work effectively. Also communication skill is also required for having a good team. This
means developing clear objectives and ideas so that work is done in proper manner.
2.2 Communication Skills
Communication is the key for having an effective result or outcome. This skill helps in
improving team morale, culture of effective communication, clear purpose and direction, higher
level of productivity, early resolutions of problems, etc. When there is good communication
between leader and other team mates, it is easy to improve the thinking of team mates. They can
express their feelings effectively to other people.

2.3 Gibbs' Reflection of specific experience in the team task
Graham Gibbs has provided model of reflective cycle in the year 1988. This helps in
encouraging individuals to think in systematic way. This provides information about recording
the experience while collecting funds and money (Kong, and Yan, 2014). Gibbs reflective cycle
is a common model of reflection. There are six stages present within this cycle. These stages are
described below -
Description – I am currently working with my team members for collecting funds and
money for the Brain tumour charity. I have planned in proper manner to collect money for this
charity. In the initial stage, I had to manage my work and make a plan for reaching the potential
people who can provide funds for charity (Kulkarni, and Chachadi, 2014). I want to enhance my
skills while doing work in team. It is essential for me to develop my skill for doing work towards
collecting more fund for charity. I have good communication skill that helped me in explaining
other people about the cause of tumour and how their families cope up with different situations.
Feelings – As per this step, there are various feelings and emotions within an individual
while working for any project or task. This step includes my thoughts and ideas while doing my
work. There are different emotions with which I have to deal with while collecting funds. At
times, when narrating stories of tumour patients to people, I felt bad. I motivated myself for
doing some good for these people by collecting money for them. I always motivated myself for
doing something good for someone (Mishra, 2014). This helped me to keep myself happy and
satisfied. While collecting funds and money, I always felt good.
Evaluation -According to the evaluation stage, my work is analysed in effective manner.
In this step, I have to evaluate my work effectively and measure that whether I have obtained
desired results or not. My basic aim while collecting fund was not to win the competition, but it
also included collecting funds for tumour patient families and give them happiness. As our team
was able to cross the limit and collected fund more than the estimated money. Thus, according to
me I clearly passed this stage (Muhamad, 2012). While doing my work in effective manner, it
was easy to evaluate my team's effort for attaining desired outcome.
Analysis -As per this step, I have to evaluate my work with the past experiences. Clearly,
I have done my work perfectly. Our team was able to collect more fund than the estimated
amount. It was not an easy task to go around and ask for money from various people. I have done
my work effectively and achieved desired results (Verran, 2010). My collected money will help

in bringing happiness at face of many sad people. I have calculated that I have done good work
and helped a lot of families to live happily. Collecting money for these people gave me
satisfaction and happiness.
Conclusion -This is the last and concluding stage of this cycle. At this stage, I have to
make conclusions for the work I have done. I have collected a total of 113 pounds and this was
an appreciable fund that was offered to the Brain Tumour Charity. After doing this fund to the
charity organisation, I felt very happy and satisfied. This work made me feel proud and great as I
have done something good for people who are in need. This has created satisfaction and
happiness for working in effective manner. This is the concluding stage and in this I have
realised that it is very easy for people to have sympathy for people who are suffering from any
disease (Wilton, 2012). It takes a lot of courage to actually help them. I have done this by
collecting funds for them.
Action Plan -According to this step, I have developed an action plan that will help me in
achieving success in future. I have made an aim for having a bright future and this can be done
by using all the available resources and doing great work. I have developed various skills while
working for this project. While collecting fund, it was not easy to convince everybody to give
money. I have to make other people feel the same pain that the families of tumour patients are
facing. While doing this, I have developed communication skills. This has helped me to talk to
different people and make them to donate money for a good cause.

outstanding and some are shy who are not comfortable in meeting new people. Volunteering
provides me an opportunity for practising and developing social skills. It is easy for me to make
new friends and contacts while collecting fund for the Brain Tumour charity.

contact with others. This also helps in developing a good support system that helps in protecting
against depression. When I am involved in collecting funds for the charity, it made me realise
that I can also do something good for people. Depression can be reduced by talking to new
people and knowing their views on a particular topic.

of people. This has helped me in developing self confidence and doing my work effectively.
3.2 Internships
