IP ADDRESSING AND SUBNETTING1
Executive Summary
In recent years optimization of networks through appropriate IP configuration has become
has gained significant importance. The report will therefore be calculating the IP
configurations required by the organization. The report will be creating different tables for
the IP requirements of the headquarters, branch A, branch B and branch C. These tables will
be including the address spaces to be allocated to each branch as well as the headquarters.
The optimal address spaces to be allocated to the respective branches will be done through
VLSM subnet calculation. For this calculation a class C IP network is used with the CIDR
mask of /24. Next, the compressed and expanded IPv6 addresses for these different branches
will be specified along with the IPv6 network, prefix, range and number of /64s. These
information regarding IPv6 networks acquired are given in separate tables under the IPv6
Addressing section. Thereafter the Complete network diagram for the organization will be
provided with the help of a logical network diagram and a physical network diagram. The
logical network diagram will show the links between the branches and HQ. The physical
diagram will show how the different sections are positioned and what configuration is
applied. After presenting the diagrams the report comes to an end.

IP ADDRESSING AND SUBNETTING3
Introduction
1.1 Overview
The report attempts to show how essential it has become to optimize networks by
applying favourable IP configuration in the routers of business networks. The report begins
by calculating the IP requirements of the three branches and how they should be configured.
Then different tables are created for specifying the detailed IP requirements of the
headquarters, branch A, branch B and branch C.
1.2 IP Addressing
These tables include the address spaces to be allocated to each branch as also the HQ.
Optimal allocation of address spaces is conducted through VLSM subnet calculation. Next,
the IPv6 address allocation for these different branches and the HQ are specified with the
IPv6 network, prefix, range and number of /64s in separate tables.
1.3 Network Diagram
After this the complete network diagram is provided in the form of the logical
network diagram and the physical network diagram. The logical network diagram shows how
the branches and the HQ is interconnected. The physical diagram shows the physical
orientation of the different network segments along with subnet mask and IP configurations.
