INTRODUCTION
Globalisation refers to a process of movement of products or services of a company
across the territorial boundary in an integrated manner. It has a large impact on mobility of
people and global economy in both negative and positive way (Smith,2011). The present project
is based on the concept of globalisation and its positive impact within function of a company.
For this process, John Lewis Partnership has been taken which deals in retail sector. In terms of
sales, it is considered as third largest retailer in the world that offers a wide range of products. It
includes clothes, jewellery, cosmetics and more. This assignment will highlight aims and
objectives with project management plan to succeed the same. Further, concept of research
methodology has also described to interpret the result. Along with this, some recommendation
has given to present company for enhancing its business market.
Write about the following:
Positive impact of Globalisation in general to the businesses in the UK:
1. Economic Impact: Globalisation gives various advantages to organisations in moving
their business at international marketplace. It leads to enhance their trading activities
beyond the territorial boundaries. Thus, in UK, increase in import and export activities
helps in developing and improving economical situations. In addition to this, it also leads
to offer domestic and international products on affordable price rates.
2. Cultural Impact: Globalisation helps in introducing diverse culture at workplace either
by giving recruitment to people of other countries or outsourcing the existing employees.
It gives advantages to companies in getting support of associated people to bring
innovation in business.
3. Ethical Impact: For running business at global level, a company needs to concern on
every factor that impact on operational activities. It includes certain code of conduct on
which business runs. By creating modifications in existing code of conduct, ethical laws
and policies, they can run business in ethical manner.
Background of the Research
Globalisation is a wide concept in today’s business world. It gives various benefits to
organisation in expanding their business at global level. This concept is widely used to sell
products or services across the world. In context with John Lewis Partnership, it deals in retail

sector where many competitors are present at marketplace to avail a good position. Therefore, in
this regard, by using the concept of globalisation, this company can gain high competitive
advancement (Crane and Matten, 2016). It can trade its product easily in other countries which
enhance sale performance and increase customer base also.

Scope
It is an essential part of any project management plan
which describes that after introducing globalisation
within business, John Lewis can get various benefits. It
can enhance customer base and sell products in global
market more easily. This would help in getting high
competitive advantage also.
Time
In order to formulate aims and objectives, carry
research and further execute the plan, project makers of
John Lewis will take approximate three to four months.
Quality
Maintenance of quality is considered as main
component of a project plan. It entails that for brining
globalisation, John Lewis is required to concern on
existing technology (Shang, 2012). If it there is a
requirement to replace the infrastructure then it should
focus on features of latest technology. This would help
in operating functions of business more smoothly.
Communication In order to execute entire activities of a project plan,
team-manager of John Lewis is required to provide
open communication system (Gebauer, Edvardsson
and Bjurko, 2010). This would aid members to convey
or get any information in easy manner. They can
further share roles and responsibilities with each other
to complete a task on time.

Since whatever strategies are made to execute a plan is

not initiated in exact manner. Therefore, it is
compulsory for every project maker to make a proper
risk analysis plan and develop a risk log. It will suggest
team-members what type of actions they can take in
case of discrepancy. This would help in managing risk
and reducing the chance of project failure also.
Resources It is considered as main component of management
plan which describes resources required to execute set
activities of a project properly. It includes team-
members, adequate amount of capital, expert trainer
who give instruction how to perform a task etc.

Primary and Secondary
Primary data collection method: It includes collection
of raw or original data. In this method data is collected
for first time. This type of research can take place in
the form of observations, interviews and questionnaire
surveys. This research method can prove beneficial for
organization to gather information about any product
and services in easy way. With help of this research
organizations can have fresh and unused information
that will help them to determine effective results
(Introducing Research Methods, 2017).
Secondary data collection method: In this
research data is collected from those sources which has
already been published somewhere else. This type of
research is beneficial for organizations because in this

information is cheap to obtain. This research is easy to
conduct. Secondary research is obtained from research
studies, books reviews, textbooks and collections from
primary sources (Incelli, 2013). This research is
conducted from data that already exists. This research
can benefit organizations in so many ways as it is cost
and time effective.
Qualitative and Quantitative In order to conduct a proper investigation, there are
various research methodologies available which helps
in collecting, organising, realising and interpreting the
data more appropriately. It includes qualitative and
quantitative approaches, research design, data analysis
and more. In this regard, two main methods for
conducting an in-depth analysis are given as below:
Qualitative research methodologies: This
research contains collection and interpretation of data
by observing people. It mainly concentrates on
exploring behaviours and belief of individuals and
group. By implementing this method of research in
their workplace organizations can increase their ability
to measure their statistical data more effectively (Lin
and Chen, 2012). This research collects data from small
participants which is beneficial for any company as it
saves their time and cost. With use of this research
company can encourage their employees to expand
their responses which help to develop strong
communication bridge in workplace.
Quantitative research methodologies: This
research is mainly considered with discovering of facts
about social standards. This research is collected
through measuring and analyzing numerical

comparisons. Qualitative research is basically a
systematic and formal process which is use to describe
variables and determine interactions between variables.
By implementing this research organization can able to
collect large data quickly. By using this research
company can allow themselves to enhance their result.
This research provides conclusive answer to research
questions (Crane and Matten, 2016). These methods
can be use by organizations in questionnaires,
interviews, observations and records. This research is
an effective tool to identify trustworthy solution to any
problem by using numerical data.
Work Break Down Structure
In order to conduct entire duties as described in project management plan, researchers have
used two major techniques that are- Work Breakdown Structure and Gantt Chart. WBS helps in
dividing the overall activities of project into small manageable parts. This would also useful in
determining the total expenditure of completing projects (Jones and Lubinski, 2012). Through
this process, managers of John Lewis can control overhead expenses also which improve
efficiencies of project as well. This process also helps present company in utilising resources and
time for executing project plan appropriately.
