Introduction
Globalisation is defined as process which is generally adopted by a company in order to
expand their business in international market. This will also help in developing interaction and
investigation among the peoples, company and legal bodies at global level. Through this a
company able to gain various benefits such as enhance number of customers, market shares,
profitability ratio and many more (Aharoni, 2014). There is various methods available through
which a firm can enhance business such as franchises, partnership, joint venture and so on.
Organisation taken for this assignment is TESCO, which is a public limited company operating
in retail industry. It is founded by Jack Cohen in year 1919 and it’s headquarter is situated at
Hertfordshire, England. Products offer by respective company are supermarket, hypermarket,
convenience shop and superstore. This research is based on identifying importance of
globalisation for respective firm as well as through it researcher also analyse different strategies
through which they can enter into emerging marketplace.
Research Topic
Globalization is essential for every company because through it they able to expand their
business in international market in effective and impressive manner. This report is based on the
topic which describe about importance of globalization and diverse type of strategies which are
adopted by business for entering into emerging marketplace.

The main reason for selecting this research topic is to analyse the importance of

trading of good and services among the nations as well as it will also allow individuals to go
from one country to another for getting employed. Now a day globalisation is impacting on each
and every sector such as supermarket, auto mobile, hospitality and many more, so it is necessary
for company's manager to conduct proper analysis and then develop strategies accordingly. In
respect of supermarket of United Kingdom globalisation impacted it in positive manner because
through it they able to gain various benefits. For example supermarket at respective country able
to adopt new technology, they able to expand their business at various locations at worldwide
level, they also get opportunity to offer wide range of products at one place. In addition to this, at
United Kingdom there are wide variety of supermarkets such as TESCO, ALDI, Marks and
Spencer, Sainsbury, Lidl and many more (Cavusgil, Ghauri and Akcal, 2012). By globalisation
these supermarket able to hire more appropriate candidate for vacant position from worldwide
level that help them in offering more quality services to their customers. This expansion or
growth of supermarket also aid United Kingdom to increase their economy and growth rate
impressively.
How does emerging market influence the success of TESCO?
According to the perspective of Mark Smith, 2019 for succession of every company
growing market plays an essential role because through it company able to seek opportunities in
more effective and successful manner (Tesco investors celebrate emerging market success,
2019). Along with this emerging market also help company like TESCO in getting more

investors so that they can conduct innovation as well as operations in more impressive manner
which leads to enhancement of profits properly. According to analysis done by FE Analytic it is
evaluate that through emerging market TESCO shows 56 funds list and come in top ten company
which have £ 2 billion of Newton Higher Income fund as well as the £ 780 million of JOHCM
UK Opportunities fund. This shows that respective company gain various opportunists by
expanding their business operations and market at emerging or rising marketplace as well as it
will also help them in growing their business impressively and effectively.

an organisation there are various options to enter into the foreign market that helps to direct
organisational goals and objectives in proper manner. In context of Tesco that wants to expand in
to foreign marketplace so here is the no. of market entry strategies:
Joint venture: Joint venture is a close relationship between the domestic and foreign
organisations and both the firms invest in each other ownership and control shares jointly.
In JV the foreign partner provides the expertise to the new market, about opportunists,
network and connections to get access in the new marketplace (Chhokar, Brodbeck and
House, 2013). It is riskier in nature and also less flexible and many organisation adopts
that may afford tax advantages of many nations.
Direct exporting: Direct exporting is one of effective way to enter into the new market
in which products and services sell directly into marketplace. Organisation uses various
kinds of sales programs to represent themselves in front of distributors and agents and
they work closely to represent in self-interest of an organisation. It is less risky in nature
as foreign partner have adequate knowledge and information regarding market and
products to gain optimum outcomes.
So in context of Tesco which expands in the foreign marketplace have to opt the direct
exporting method of market expansion because it eliminates all intermediaries that save cost and
time. Also it provides greater degree of control over various works and activities to get potential
outcomes.
