Business Research2 Assignment 2: Business Research Proposal Introduction Sydney is the city of Australia which is rich in diverse cultures and is dynamic in terms of population and its culture (Visit Sydney, 2018).The number of south Asian population in Sydney is growing because of which there is a need to open supermarkets which focus on he need fulfilment of Asian population. There are already big brands of supermarkets like Wesfarmers, Woolworths, Coles and more but these supermarkets focuses on the needs of native people of Australia but there is no specific store which focuses on the demands of south Asian population which is in good number in Australia (Money Matters, 2018). The assignment is the continuation of the literature review on the topic ‘possibility of South Asian/ Nepalese and Indian Grocery Stores in Sydney’. This will include the details about the methods and techniques which will be used to conduct research on the topic. At last, data analysis and its techniques will be explained. A research plan will be created which shows the time taken for each activity of research.
Business Research3 Project Objective The main objective of the project is to find out the possibility of tarting the business of supermarket in Sydney to serve the basic needs of South Asian population. It will help in fulfilling the needs of the multicultural society. There are already some stores which cater the needs of south Asian people but this supermarket will aim at competing with the big stores by staying customer focussed. The main objective of the project will be to understand the psychology of the potential customers of the supermarket. The main objectives of the project is: To implement the strategies which strengthens the operations of the store. To Build strong customer business relationship To provide customised products and services for providing maximum satisfaction to the customers To face competition in the market To maintain quality in the products sold by the store To focus on the sustainable growth of the business. Project scope The scope of the opening of south Asian store is broad because it will allow people to buy different kinds of products from the store and not only south Asian population will be able to buy from the store but it will also cater to the needs of local Australian population (Young, 2016).As Indians and Nepalese are among the biggest number of migrants in Australia, such store will have a good scope of increasing business and will also help in its growth and sustainability in Sydney (Finch, 2016).

Business Research4 Literature review Sydney is a multicultural city which is rich in musical, visual and artistic activities. The cultural diversity has shaped the city and its background. There are different nationalities which resides in the city which includes Chinese, Italian, Indian, Korean, Nepalese, Thai, Turkish and other nationalities which together makes it a multicultural city (Easterby-Smith, Thorpe and Jackson, 2015). The research is about the supermarkets or grocery stores which are operating in Sydney. There are many big brands like Woolworths, Wesfarmers, Coles, Aldi and others which are focussing on the needs and demands of the nationals. The grocery store which is specially targeting the Indian and Nepalese population in Sydney have to focus on the recent trends and demands of the population so that they can source raw materials and other food products as per it. To reduce the loss and food items wastage, the store has to take a proper note of the demand of the customers because the food items are the perishable items which have to be consumed within certain days once it is purchased (Hirogaki, 2015). The store need to be located in the suburbs which have most of the Indian and Nepalese residents. In Sydney, Parramatta and Harris Parks are the localities where south Asian people can be found in large numbers. These localities are the perfect location to establish grocery store. There are already more than 20 restaurants in this area which provides south Asian food but the grocery stores selling south Asian food is hardly found. The grocery store can open a chain of supermarkets in the areas like Auburn where these products are easily sold. The products sold in these stores might include homemade food products, spices, breads and other ingredients which are used in making south Asian food (Mortimer,et. al., 2016). The operating costs of opening grocery store would be higher in such areas as the store will have to import all the food products from the native area. It might also face loss as the native Australians will not be interest in visiting such stores. For facing this limitation, the store should also sell Australian food products which can attract the attention of the local people (McKeever, 2016).
Business Research5 There are certain factors which could help in uplifting the grocery stores which includes cost of the products, product quality and variety, strategies of marketing, place of exporting, turnover of the company and target market (Schaper, et. al., 2014).These factors are required to be paid more attention by the grocery store because these factors can transform the success of the business in Sydney. For maintaining sustainable growth in the business, the grocery store can adopt the ‘Subscribe and Save’ method where the customers get special discounts if they subscribe monthly groceries from the South Asian Super markets (Armstrong, et. al, 2015). It is clear from the review of literature that grocery market and industry have to be innovativeandextremelyfocussedonthecustomersinordertohavecompetitive advantage in the industry. It also ensures sustainable growth of the business. Justification of the research problem The research problems is how a grocery store focussing on the south Asian population could operate in Sydney, Australia. The store will have to make focussed marketing strategies which can help the store in targeting its real customers. The promotional strategies could be adopted which include advertisements on South Asian TV channels, social media accounts and in newspapers in the region where south Asian population is more. The grocery store can also provide special discounts to the ones who purchase a particular amount of products from the store (Ambat, et al., 2017). Gaps in literature review There are gaps in the literature review as the literature do not discuss about the real data of supermarkets or grocery stores which are at present operating in Sydney. The literature also do not discuss about the challenges which the grocery store might face while operating in Sydney. The practical process of starting the store and its supply chain are not been discussed.
Business Research6 Research questions Primary Question The primary research question need to be answered is: What is the possibility of opening and running a south Asian grocery store in Sydney? Secondary Questions The secondary questions which need to be answered are: WhataretheneedsofSouthAsianpopulationwhichcanbecateredbythe supermarket? How the south Asian supermarket will be different from the existing supermarkets of Australia? How a grocery store focussing on a particular nationality can gain success in Sydney? How the grocery store will be promoted?

Business Research7 Research Design and Methodology This is the section of the research where main methods and processes used to conduct the research will be discussed. It helps in knowing the exact processes of research and how it can be successfully completed. This research can be divided into two parts where a part of research is completed by using qualitative methods of research and the other is conducted by using quantitative methods of research. Qualitative Research Qualitative research process The process of qualitative research can be explained in phases. It starts from Phase 1 which includes planning of research. It includes planning about the research deliverables and setting research objectives. It is about identifying which groups of stakeholders are getting effected from the research. The next phase is about setting milestones and carrying out the research to match the objectives of the business. The next phase includes the homework on the research and the final step is summarising the findings of the research to take out conclusion and give recommendations (Hair, et. al., 2015). Reliability and Validity Reliability and validity are the key aspects of any research. Inductive approach is adopted in this research because the research is subjective in nature. A theoretical framework is adopted which will help in bringing conclusions for the issue discussed in the research (Bryman and Bell, 2015). Sampling technique and sample size Sampling is the process of selecting a set of population from the whole population to get the responses of the sample population on the basis of which, the response of the complete population size is judged (Wilson, 2014).For the purpose of qualitative research, non- probability sampling is selected in order to meet the objectives of the research. For this
Business Research8 purpose, a questionnaire will be designed with the set of certain questions so that interview can be carried out. For this purpose, 10 customers will be interviewed who belong to south Asian origin to know their requirements and whether they need a store which is specifically opened for them or not. Collection of data Data collection will be done by using primary source of data which includes interview. This will provide complete fresh and raw data on the basis of which the conclusions can be made. It helps in gathering the in-depth data for the research. Quantitative Research Process of quantitative research In the quantitative research process, the research starts right from identifying the problems or purpose of the research. Then, research questions will be developed on the basis of which data will be collected so that the answers can be derived for the research questions. The next step is to design methodology of research so that the research can be completed successfully in the systematic manner. The samples will be selected for the purpose of collecting data. Sample questionnaire will be designed which will help in collecting the relevant information from the targeted segment (Wilson, 2016). Instrument of research The research includes collection of information through primary and secondary sources. The primary information is collected through survey questionnaire in which the questions will be developed keeping in mind the aims and objectives of the research. Secondary information iscollectedwiththehelpofsources likebooks, journals, articles, onlinewebsites, publications and more. Secondary data supports the primary data collected during the process of research. Data analysis procedure Once data is collected, it has to be analysed to get the final outcomes of the research. Data can be analysed by sorting it first and then it is arranged to get the logical meaning of the
Business Research9 collected data. It is then calculated through various statistical tools like SPSS or Microsoft Excel so that relevant results can be made and the data can be interpreted finally. After interpretation, the data will be arranged in the tables and graphs so that it can be understood well by thereader. This finalinterpretation of data, helps in providing recommendations for the further research process. This is how, the quantitative research technique helps in gaining the objectives of the research (Greener, 2008). Sampling technique For the purpose of quantitative data, probability sampling would be used. Simple random sampling technique would be used where each respondent have an equal chance of being selected (Sekaran and Bougie, 2016).The researcher will conduct survey on 50 customers which belong to the Asian origin specially India and Nepal so that the needs and demands of them can be ascertained. It will help researcher in making suitable conclusions for the research. Reliability and validity The reliability and validity could be maintained by sourcing the information used in the research. It will prove the genuine sourcing for the data used in the research. The research is valid as all the relevant permissions are taken to access the information and to conduct survey for the research completion. Research Limitations There are certain limitation to the research. The limited time and sources available may lead to the failure in in depth analysis of the topic. The responses from the respondents of questionnairemaybebiasedwhichhamperthequalityandcredibilityofresearch. Maintaining privacy for the responses is one of the challenges of the research which could affect the research outcome if not taken care of.
