INTRODUCTIONHealth and Safety is important for the care homes in order to provide effective servicesand better environment for the patients. The report will cover the system, policies and proceduresused in maintaining and communicating health and safety at workplace. Responsibilities ofsocial care and contribution as a care workers to promote health and safety will be discussed inthis report. The case of respite care home located in Newham London is assessed with thepriorities and impact of non-compliance within health and safety legislation. Risk assessment forMr John case and implementation of policies and systems for Mr Sam case will be discussed inthis report. Finally, the report will cover the health and safety policy and its effectiveness.TASK 11.1 System, procedures and policies used for communicating and maintain health and safety atworkplaceConcept of risk, safety and security: There are several policies, procedures and system existsin communicating and maintaining health and safety environment at workplace in the firmeffectively. The data protection act is one of them which ensure that the information of patientswill be secure and safe. Systems, policies and procedures for communicating information: System, policies andprocedures are maintained by the health and safety firm in order to provide benefits and facilitiesto the patients (Amponsah-Tawiah and Mensah, 2016). There are some legal legislation managedby the government to ensure the workplace safety in health and care organisations.Health and Safety Act 1974: The act is passed by the government of United Kingdom.According to this law, health and safety of workers and patients at workplace should beensured. Top level to bottom level al the employees should ensure their health and safety.They are also responsible for following such legislatives.Health and Safety First Aid Regulation 1981: According to this legislation, it is theresponsibility of an employee to provide first aid equipments. In addition to this, shouldanalyse the condition around work place and duty to instruct employees in the firm toprovide first aid benefits to patients.Mental Health Care Act 2007: The mental health care act is for those people who aresuffering from mental diseases. The act is passes by the UK government in 1983 but1

revise in 2005 and finally 2007. in this, all the medical facilities provided by theemployees to patients accordingly.Management of health and social 1999: The regulation considered four aspects such as:Requirements decide the performance.Produce valuable arrangements.Elements which helps to manage the health and safety at workplace.In addition to this, Employment medical advisory service act 1972, Health and safetyoffence act 2008 and Disability discrimination act 1995 etc. such regulations and acts ensure thehealth and safety care organisation management (Amponsah-Tawiah, Ntow, and Mensah, 2016).1.2 Responsibilities in a health and social care workplace for managementIllustration 1: Health and Social care managementIt can be said that care home is the authority which take care of health and social careorganisation in whole regions. Health and social care organisations are everywhere in order toprovide effective and beneficial services to the patients effectively. Management should ensurehealth and safety in every organisation which will be done my planning, policies and strategies.Patients are very sensitive for the firm that they should provide services which are useful for thepatients in order to recover as soon as possible. Management should also allow the friends andfamily members of patients in the firm (Dolez, 2015).
