Analysis of growth and development of heritage & cultural sector
Heritage and Cultural industry is an essential part of travel
and tourism. It highly contributes in growth and development
of economy. It serves various purposes of travellers initiating
from source of recreation and fun to travel the educational
intent, abroad, aim of gathering substantive experience via
travelling historical sites and the business purpose. This
report covers heritage and cultural management and analysis
of its growth and development.
Heritage meaning: It is a range of our inherited monuments,
traditions, culture and objects as well as contemporary
activities, behaviours and meanings that an individual draw
from them. Heritage refers to a contemporaneous activity
with far reaching outcomes. It can be a path for political
recognition, way of ethical reflection, medium for
intercultural dialogue and potential basis for national
economic development.
Tourism is one of the popular sector of world and is
expanding with increasing rate. UNWTO anticipated that
global arrivals will be approx. 2.56 billion by 2020 which
was 842 in 2006. Heritage and cultural tourism is being a tool
in order to improve regional development in rural and urban
areas. In Spain and Italy, there are many places like Venice
and Barcelona. These places gain more attraction of visitors
as they are attractive. The growth & development of cultural
and heritage industries are due to defined below factors:
Attractive: In Venice and Barcelona, the heritage and cultural
places or sites are very attractive. For example, Magic
fountain show, Las Rambles Street, La Sagrada Familia,
Picasso museum etc. are the well-known places and known as
modern forts of these countries.
1940-1946: During this period, government
was formed in order to preserve the heritage
of Spain and Italy. These includes museums,
Magic fountain show, Sagrada familia,
historical monuments etc. of the country. At
the time of opening of these places, legal
authorities were taken various initiatives in
order to increase revenues of the country for a
particular purpose.
1946-1990: In these years, tourism industry
mainly emphasizes on protecting and
communicating art and music of the country.
So, a council is created and government
utilized funds on it. For improving heritage
and culture of the country, organisations
emphasize on attracting travellers to visit
these destinations.
1990-1997: In this time period, various paths
were developed for change with the objective
of creating high revenues and sales. This
activity assists in improving economic as well
as social development of the country.
1997-2000: During this period, government
emphasize on improving knowledge and
talent of the individuals who are living in the
country. Their main responsibility is organise
& manage cultural as well as sports events
that outsources the people's experience.
Growth and Development of Heritage & Cultural
Sector
These sites are easily assessed to travellers by easy
transport and has long sustainability.
Natural: There are 4 natural heritage places including
Gough & Inaccessible Islands as well as Henderson
Islands in both the countries. All these sites are
attractive in nature and visitors like to visit these
places more due to its natural beauty. Some natural
sites include Forests, Coastlines, Woodlands,
landscapes such as marine area etc. All these sites are
highly attractive and travellers visit happily.
Contracted heritage environment: There are some
man made or constructed places like Maritime
Mercantile City, Balenavon industrial, Valley mills,
City of bath etc. are called industrial sites. Barcelona
has historic and popular architecture which attracts
large number of visitors towards the destinations and
these can be the development source of tourism
industry.
Cultural heritage: Today, there are approximately 29
sites from which 23 are cultural places. All these
places have its own importance in respect to different
regional and national costume. For instance, Maritime
Greenwich where knowledge of astronomy and
navigation were developed.
Timelines: There are many timelines that depicts the
growth and development of heritage and cultural
sector. Local government of the country did not show
any concern related to safety of destinations. But, after
tourism takes place, scenario will totally change and it
