INTRODUCTION
Home-based child care refers as a early childhood education whereas care providers pay
attention on children in their home, often takes supports from their assistant. Currently Working
with child becomes skill-based job that helps to understand needs and issues of children and
builds a string bond with children. There are various benefits of home-based care such as
children feel like home and do things which they like the most. Home-based childcare setting is
generally organized in the most of play schools so that teachers can give home like environment
to the children and makes them learn number of good habits which improves their brains. Thus,
home-based childcare setting is essential for the children development. This report will discuss
about varieties of skills, attributes and behaviours that requires to lead and manage a home-based
childcare setting. Then further will discuss about various roles and responsibilities of home-
based childcare while leading and managing setting.
MAIN BODY
Determine the skills, attributes and behaviours that requires to lead and manage a home-based
childcare setting
Home-based childcare setting is not easier task for the anyone because it requires large
number of skills and effective behaviour and attributes to lead a child in right direction and
manages their activities on right platform (Werner and et.al., 2016). So, home-based childcare is
become professional job. To get this job requires number of skills, characteristics and effective
behaviours. There are number of skills such as good communication skills, emergency training,
patience, positive attitude and child development knowledge etc. are important skills that must
posses by caregivers. For example, when caregiver has good communication skills then they can
direct communicate with children either they are small in age and size or physical appearance is
bigger but brain knowledge is small due to deformities (Albrecht and Khetani, 2017). There are
various children with disability or mental retardation who requires extra supports as compared
normal children.
So, it is required that caregivers must have effective communication skills because when
they have good communication skills then they can direct communicate with such children and
can supports them to improve their brain capabilities effectively. Another is positive attitude that

plays essential in individuals’ life. For example, when child caregivers keep positive attitude
then they always try to give their best performance either all efforts are reductant. With the
positive attitude caregivers can appreciate such children who have physical or mental disability
to do things as they like the most. Children’s with small age requires more supports and
appreciation from others or parents and when they do not get such supports that brigs
demotivation in their mind and they start up to feel socially excluded (Stone and Bryant, 2019).
Another is patience that is highly important skills for the caregivers because when they have
good patience level then they can negotiate children to take new initiatives weather they are
failed or win. Caregivers must posses’ nurturing personality that helps to build string bond with a
child. for example, when child is separated from mother, in that situation they feel more fear. If
caregiver has nurturing personality then they can make children feel of safety and comfort and
they can learn children how to leave with other ones effectively in the absence of native or
parents. With nurturing personality care providers cannot take place of the children’s mother but
can support them to feel better while he is in day care (Ang, Brooker and Stephen, 2017).
Caregivers should have knowledge about fist aid, CPR, chocking etc. within day care workplace
because it often happen when children is choked by having unwanted things then there can
become chance of chocking, in that situation care givers can practices CPR or chocking method
to remove obstacle from mouth until medical services does not arrive. Thus, care providers must
have knowledge of such scary situations.
Care providers should have at least two qualifications in English and Maths that
comprises into functional skills (Sonnenschein and Sun, 2017). These qualifications are highly
important for the child providers because when they have such qualification then they can learn
to small children about basic English and Math. Another qualification is Paediatric First Aid that
is highly required for the child providers. Such qualification can achieve by online courses
whereas gives training session in the local areas and understand caregivers how to give first aid
whenever child stuck into emergency situations. Social skills are also required by childcare
centres in a ideal child givers because when they have such skills then they can communicate
with children’s parents more effectively and can ensures them their child is more safe in the care
house. To remove parents’ concerns requires that care providers must communicate with them
regular basis for giving overview of children’s activities which they did in whole day. Apart
from this, caregivers must have knowledge about multiple language so that they can
