Introduction
Hospitality industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and includes hotels,
restaurants, lodging, accommodation, events, cruises and various other services that are
related to tourism. It contributes significantly to the overall growth of the economy of a
country (Boz, Arslan and Koc, 2017). Organization chosen for this presentation is Leonardo
Royal London Tower Bridge, which is a hotel in London, United Kingdom.

Key sub departments of Housekeeping
The housekeeping department within a hospitality organization is
responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the rooms, public areas,
surrounding areas of the hotel at all times. There are different key sub
departments within housekeeping in Leonardo Royal London Tower
Bridge which are described below –
Guest Room Cleanliness – This is one of the key sub departments of
Housekeeping, wherein the staff members ensure that the rooms that are

Public Area Cleanliness – Areas within the hotel like lobby, public rest rooms,
corridors etc. that can be accessed freely by the guests as well as visitors are referred to
as public areas. The individual who is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of these
areas is usually referred to as Public Area Cleaner.
Laundry This is another sub department of housekeeping that has various
responsibilities This is because a tremendous amount of laundry is generated with the
hotels (Gölzer and Fritzsche, 2017).

Linen – Linen can be described as all the fabrics that are launder able and used in
a hotel. The individual who is responsible for controlling and managing linen
does routine checking of the linen for its appearance as well as hygiene
standards.
Lost and Found – Sometimes, the guests leave their belongings behind in their
rooms unintentionally (Koc and Bozkurt, 2017). This sub department of
housekeeping keeps a record of all the lost and found items which include the
date on which the item was found, a brief description of the item, location where
