INTRODUCTION
Throwing light towards the hospitality sector, it is considered as one of the most vital
service providers for the travel and tourism industry all around the globe. It encompasses all the
businesses that help in providing accommodation to tourists as well as travellers from one place
to another (Blomme, Rheede and Tromp, 2009). In addition to this, they form the integral part of
the complete experience and must satisfy the travellers by offering as per the standards being set
earlier by the hospitality industry. Speaking in regards with the hospitality management, it is
generally managing the different areas of tourism. In other words it is just an aspect that is
reflected on various holiday destinations, hotel management, restaurants etc. As Junior
Consultant of PKF hotel experts, the focus is on analyzing and understanding the role of
Hospitality management and its inter-relationship with the travel and tourism business. In
addition to this, the present report will also analyze various implications of integration to the
hospitality industry and a developmental plan for the hospitality industry is also formed.
TASK – 1
1.1 The inter-relationships between hospitality and wider travel and tourism businesses
Hospitality is the function that helps in building the relationships and promoting the
exchange of products and services amid the hospitality and the receiver. The outlets of
hospitality which are quite successful have expanded their business and placed their outlets in
various destinations popularly at tourist attractions or destinations such Paris, New Zealand,
Hollywood etc. other than this, many hospitality companies places their outlets in leisure venues
(Boardman and Barbato, 2008). These venues are selected in order to expand the market reach as
well as to progress within the industry. The various leisure venues include Night clubs, casinos,
theme parks, attractions and theaters. On the other hand, travel destinations involve places such
as trains, aeroplanes, railway stations and airports. There are many traditional outlets or free
standing hospitality venues such as Bars, cruise ships, hotels and holiday centers.
There are mainly three domains in the hospitality industry i.e. social domain, private
domain and the commercial domain. Talking in regards with the social domain, it is defined as
the interactions of the people and the service providers (Kalisch, 2009). On the other hand,
private domain includes free standing outlets or establishing the relationship with the customers
through food based elements such as restaurants, bars and food chains. And lastly, commercial

domain is being regarded as the business side of the hospitality industry. In other words, it is
being referred as the way services or business is being promoted to their customers. Additionally,
this domain is not acceptable in generalization in comparison with the other two domains.
Hospitality and travel and tourism organizations are inter-related with each other. This is
because of the fact that travel and tourism companies are concerned with attracting the customers
to various destinations all across the world through various promotional methods (Salerno,
2009). On the other hand, hospitality is engaged towards offering comfort as well as leisure to
the customers within the hotel or restaurants. This inter-relationship can be better understood by
the following:
Conferences and events – These are significant for the national as well as global travel
and tourism industries. For instance, Malta has organized a big Oriflame conference
inviting around 4000 delegates and arranged their stay in 4 or 5 star hotels. The attendees
of the conference are generally accommodated in the same hotel where the event is taking
place. Thus, hospitality and travel and tourism go hand in hand. The hotel is required to
provide all the necessary services to their customers (Atkinson and Brown, 2001).
Visitor attractions – It is defined as the destinations which attracts the interest of the
tourists and visitors. Attractions can be in form such as any museums, natural parks,
gardens, waterfalls etc. in addition to this, there are some places which are of interest to
the people just because they are providing many activities related to adventure like
Bungee jumping, adventure parks, rides, Disney land etc. most of the theme and
adventure parks have their own hotels, cafe and restaurants, where families coming from
varied areas can stay enjoy their trip. This type of tour is generally facilitated by package
holidays companies.
Business travel – People who travel for the official purposes generally chooses the hotel
which offers all the necessary facilities to work comfortably (Bayraktaroglu and Kutanis,
2003). Their interest always lies in the hotel which provides Wifi or cable internet
services, business centers, meeting rooms, conferences rooms and 24 hours laundry
services. Due to globalization, the need for business travel has emerged enormously.
Aviation – The success of the airline industry is very much dependent on the availability
of accommodation. If in case the hotels are at full capacity, the airline industries will
