INTRODUCTION
Human resource department refers to the group of individuals, who are accountable for
the maintaing the activities of workforce life cycle (Boon, Den Hartog and Lepak, 2019). The
policies made by the human resource department for the sake of development and benefit of the
employees is termed as human resource polices (Xie and Cooke, 2019). These policies helps the
employees start from their day of employment to the end of their employment. The main
responsibility of the human resource department is to recruit the right candidate at right place.
The work of the human resource department starts for identifying where and which specialisation
candidate is required, then recruiting the candidate and finally hiring the appropriate candidate
for that vacant position. This report includes the role of the human resource management in an
organisation, comparison of role and policies implemented by the Tesco and Marks & Spencer in
their organisation and ended with the opinion on working ability with the team and on people
management along with the strength and weaknesses as an human resource management.

Role of human resource management
It is often said that the roles and responsibilities of the human resource management is to
hire the candidates, but it context is not fully correct. Their are certain functions, role, duties and
responsibilities which a human resource management has to take care off (Wen, Wu and Long,
2021). From hiring people to provide them training along with handling and framing policies
related to employee development are this are the responsibilities of the human resource
department. Initially the role of human resource management is more of administrative work in
spite of strategic work, which is important for achieving the goals and being successful for the
organisation. Administrative work includes handing work of payroll, ensuring that the forms are
filled correctly or not and sending gifts to the workforce on their birthday, etc. Then the former
chief executive offices of general electric and management guru, Jack Welch has framed the new
role of the human resource management which are strategic role. The most crucial roles of the
human resource management are stated below -
Staffing Staffing is the most significant function which the human resource
management has to performed which includes finding the desired candidates, selecting
them by evaluating them fully and finally hiring them (Santhanam, Kumar, Kumar and
