merchandise such as clothing, fashion and other household essentials. This report comprises of
functions of human resources and various approaches of recruitment and selection with their
strength and weaknesses. Tesco is one of the popular company in UK which provide several
varieties of groceries and food products and has expanded its operations in different parts of the
countries such as Australia, Spain, Germany and many more. The role of human resource is
wider as it play a key role in every aspect of management such as staffing, directing, monitoring
the overall activities which ensure proper completion of task in an appropriate manner as a result
ensure systematic working procedure and thus bring proper cooperation in an enterprise. This
report covers elements of HR and several internal and external factors which has impact on
decision making of a firm. At last, it includes the practices and application of human resources in
an organisation.

Human resource is an essential ingredient of management which enhances the overall
productivity of an organisation as it considers several factors such as creativity, talent, skills,
knowledge base of potential candidate which aids in contributing towards the overall objectives
(Ashton, Maguire and Spilsbury, 2016). The HR manager tends to hire best and talented
workforce so that it could facilitate decision making and provide a vast prosperity of success in a
corporation. In the context of Tesco, the several purposes and function are elucidated as follows:
Purposes of HRM:
Relation among employer and employee: It is necessary for manager to maintain
effective relations with its colleagues so as to determine the overall effectiveness and also it
create a healthy environment among the workers. The manager of Tesco through its great
communication skills would interact with its employees and understand their problems and

would conduct internal hiring and provide them with additional duties such as promotions. The
