INTRODUCTIONHuman resource management is an approach of organization to manage the people oforganization in an effective way to improve the complete performance of organization to gaincompetitive advantage in market place(Brewster, Mayrhofer and Farndale, 2018)The purpose ofHRM in the organization is to improve the personal skills and management of each person in theorganization to meet the goals and targets of company that are decided by leaders andmanagement. This report is providing brief about Cadbury that is performing business inconfectionery sector. Cadbury was founded in year 1824 by John Cadbury Birmingham England.Company is providing various range of food products to the consumers. This report is providingbrief of HRM practices of human resource department for workforce management in theorganization. Strengths and weaknesses of recruitment and selection approaches are explained.Benefits of different HRM practices for employees and employer are explained in the study.Evaluation of HRM practices is performed to find their effectiveness in the performance andproductivity of organization. Influence of employee relation on the decision making of HRM isprovided in the report. Different key factors of legislation are considered to evaluate their impacton the decision making of the organization. Practices of HRM are evaluated for the working oforganization.L O 1P1) Objectives and role of HRM,Overview of the organization -Cadbury is the subsidiary of Mondelez International. It was founded in year 1824 by JohnCadbury. Headquarter of Cadbury is located in London, England. It offers various products suchas Crème Egg, Dairy Milk, beverages, biscuits, ice cream etc. It offers the products in differentcountries like India, UK, New Zealand, Canada etc. Key peoples of the firm are Irene Rosenfieldetc. One of the major aim of Cadbury is to become the largest confectionery company in theworld.Human Resource Management refers to the method of managing human resource of thefirm. So that, organization will gain competitive advantage over other competitors. HumanResource Manager of the firm is responsible for performing various functions that helps toimprove the performance of the employees (Jain, A., 2019).
Purpose of HRM-One of the major objective behind management of human resource is that the processhelps the organization to improve its performance by recruiting skilled workforce.HRM is a method that will help Cadbury to achieve its objectives by clearly defining thegoals and objectives of the company to human resource.It also helps the organization to improve its work efficiency by recruiting efficientworkers, providing them opportunity of training and development and offering incentiveson the basis of work performance of the staff(Akter, 2018).HRM plays an important role in developing adequate level of coordination betweenvarious functional departments of Cadbury. Through this it helps in optimum utilizationof the resources that results in achieving goal of the firm.Functions of HRM-Human Resource Department of Cadbury and the department plays a major role inmanaging the human resource of the organization in effective and efficient way. HumanManager is responsible for performing various types of functions of HRM. These are as follows -
Managerial functions-Planning-One of the major function of HRM is planning. It includes determining aims andobjectives of the company and policies and programmes to achieve these goals. Human ResourceManager of Cadbury is responsible for developing personnel programmes that will help torealize mission and aims of the firm.Organizing-After determining goals and objectives and plans for achieving them, Human ResourceManager of Cadbury will develop structure of organization for performing different operations.The structure will include assigning different jobs to different individuals, delegating authorityfor completing the responsibilities that are already assigned(Ellmer and Reichel, 2018).Operative functions-Recruitment-Figure1:Functions of Human Resource ManagementSource : (Functions of Human Resource Management, 2018)
One of the most important function of Human Resource Department of any company isrecruitment. It helps in recruiting right number and right type of employees for filling vacant jobpositions in the organization. It also involves induction and job placement of the workers. As aresult it helps to achieve the goals of the firm.Training and development-After recruiting and selecting the candidates, Manager of the company will provideadequate training to the staff for developing their skills that are required to perform various tasksof the firm. This will help to achieve individual as well as organizational goals. To provideproper training, Human Resource Department of Cadbury will develop proper trainingprogrammes. So that, employees will be able to use new tools and techniques for performing thework (Noe and et.al., 2017).Compensation-Human Resource Department of Cadbury is also responsible for determining andproviding adequate level of compensation to the staff for their work performance. Manager willconsider various factors before providing compensation such as laws of Government,requirement of the work, capacity of the firm, basic requirements of the employees etc.Compensation should be equitable so that, it will not demotivate the workers of the organization.And helps to improve motivation level and job satisfaction level of the staff members.P2) Different methods of recruitment and selection.Recruitment -It refers to the detail process of influencing many candidates to apply for vacant jobpositions in the firm. It also involves short-listing and selecting the most suitable type of workersto perform different jobs in the organization. The process of recruitment can be performed byHuman Resource Manager, person who is specialized in such activity or by Human Resourcegeneralists (Ranjan, 2017). Department of Human Resource in Cadbury will adopt differentmethods of recruitment such as-Internal Recruitment-It refers to the method of filling vacant job roles by selecting the employees from insidethe organization. Internal recruitment helps to retain loyal employees in the firm. Manager ofCadbury should adopt different methods for recruiting existing workforce (Griffin, Bryant, A.and Koerber, 2015). Such as-
