Companies have realised that without human resources, no organisation would be able to
meet its objectives. Human resources refer to all personnel at all levels of management, including
top management, middle management, and bottom management. Because everyone has their
own degree of perception and thinking, numerous situations arise in the workplace, such as
challenges or disputes that must be resolved in order to improve employee performance. It
necessitates human resource management, which is the act of managing all of the company's
human resources. Apart from disputes, there are several instances in which organisations must
manage their people resources in order to make the most use of their abilities, resulting in the
attainment of goals and objectives. Human resource management develops policies and methods
for human resource management. It should vary depending on the scenario and demand. In this
context, British Airways is attempting to demonstrate the value of human resource strategies in
achieving goals and objectives. British Airways is the second largest airline in the United
Kingdom. It was established in 1974 and is based in London, England. Changes in HR tactics
and models, the influence of environmental factors, job design techniques, and recruiting and
firing tactics are all covered in this research.

Strategic human resource management is the practise of aligning and coordinating human
resources with overall company objectives in order to improve company performance. Strategic
human resource management is considered as being highly important for the development and
growth of an organisation since it creates human resource strategies in order to fulfil goals and
objectives. Recruitment and selection, learning and development, performance evaluation and
assessment, remuneration, and succession planning are four types of human resource strategies
that are covered under strategic human resource management. Organizations must develop
strategies. Human resource management is the most critical aspect of any organization's success.

That is why British Airways is continuously concentrating on the finest method for retaining its
personnel resources.
The airline sector is experiencing difficulties as a result of COVID-19, since they face
several issues in human resource management. Airlines have been banned by the government in
order to curb the spread of the virus. As a result of these constraints, the airline sector is
experiencing a slowdown. It also reduces the need for employees, prompting employers to cut
work possibilities and fire staff. Every employee was devastated to learn that they had lost their
job. Following the epidemic, British Airways changed their HR approach in order to re-establish
growth. Because of the need to preserve social distance in the aftermath of the epidemic, British
Airways has changed its human resource management strategies. Because of the infection, they
are laying off around 12000 people. They discovered that post-pandemic conditions must be
handled with extreme caution in order to recoup their losses (Al-Jawad and et. al., 2019). The
key reason for the change in human resource management policy is that British Airways is
experiencing a significant loss and needs to recover, which is why they are altering their human
resource management. The chief executive officer of British Airways resigned in reaction to the
pandemic scenario, and was replaced by a new CEO.
