INTRODUCTIONHuman Resource Management (HRM) is a function which lies within organisation. Itfocuses on recruitment, management and providing guidelines to employees of company. It dealsin staff of organisation for compensation, safety, performance, hiring, benefits, training, wellnessand motivation (Kehoe and Wright, 2013). This is a premeditated approach for managing peopleand work culture. There are various functions of HRM such as operative, advisory andmanagerial for running business effectively and efficiently (Human Resource Management(HRM): Definition & Functions, 2019). The given assignment is based on Squire's GardenCentres which is medium sized family business. It was established in 1936 as landscaping firmand expanded in 1964 as garden centres. There are 15 garden located in South East of England.This report covers various purpose and functions of HRM and strength and weaknesses forrecruitment and selection. There are some benefits of HRM practices and their effectiveness inraising profits and productivity. It also discusses about employee relations, employmentlegislations and application of HRM practices in work related place. TASK 1P1 Purpose and functions of HRM applicable to workforce planning and resourcing organisationHuman resource management is seen as the approach through which employees aremanaged and controlled in the company. Effective HRM practices also helps company in gainingcompetitive advantage at marketplace (Jiang and et. al., 2012). In context to Squire gardens, ithas been analysed that this company is handled and managed by owners and its family. Thus, itis required by them to enhance their knowledge on HRM, its purpose and functions so that theycan easily track that whether their HR manager is performing their work in effective manner ornot. Along with this, it will also help owner of Squire Gardens in understanding that how HRMcontributes in workforce planning and resourcing in the company. Some of purpose andfunctions of HRM applicable to workforce planning and resourcing organisation are as follows: Purpose of Human Resource ManagementThe main purpose of Human resource management is to develop positive relationshipbetween employee and employer in order to obtain organisational goals and objectives ineffective manner (Jackson, Schuler and Jiang, 2014).
