INTRODUCTIONHuman Resource Management (HRM) refers to HR department which works formanaging people within an organisation. It generally considers various activities and functionswhich must be performed for achieving goals or objectives. In this, several activities such asrecruitment, selection, training and development, performance appraisal and many more arediscussed for making better teams or workforce (Altman and Sabato, 2010). Manager alsoensures about the relations among people that must be healthy and positive so that company caneffectually achieve set goals and targets. This report is based on Marks and Spencer plc which isa multinational retailer headquartered in London, UK. It deals with selling clothing, homeappliances and luxury food products in the market. It will define the function and purpose ofHRM as well as explain strengths or weaknesses of approaches for recruitment and selection.This assignment will define effective HRM practices for organisational profits and analyse theimportance of employee relations as well. Further, identification of employment legislation andits impacts upon decision-making will be explained here along with applying different HRMpractices in a work related context. TASK 1P1. It is the most important department that they consider about humanperformance and manage entire workforce (Wilson, 2010). HR manager plays various roles formanaging people and create healthy relations through proper communications. There are somepurposes of HRM such as:Creating a healthy working environment: It is the duty of HR manager to make a betterenvironment by maintaining a healthy relationship and also ensure about employee'sperformance which must be effective or efficient for achieving pre-defined goals or targets. 1
