1 Review of WHS requirements for work
In WHS, there are some requirements on workplace or work area regarding health and
safety measures of workers. It includes the classification of risks that may affect safety and
health of employees in the workplace. The health and safety may be of customers, employees,
suppliers etc. It is the responsibility of management to creating the safe environment of working
for the success of business. In work place, an organisation provides some safety measures like
for instance machinery related problems, conflicts problem etc. So, company has to provide
proper guidance and training related to electronic instruments and machinery. So, that all
workers do their work in proper manner without any causes (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014).
Conflict is a big issue in an organisation and it creates misunderstandings and fights between
employees and supervisors. Employees can be hit each other. So, it is necessary to company
provide communication and interpersonal training. So, that they will communicate with all other
workers in well manner. From training there will be an improvement in safety and health
measures. And employees work without any problem. It helps in enhances the productivity and
growth of an organisation.
2 Legal responsibilities and duties
There are some duties and responsibilities of managers, workers and person who
conducting business.
Managers/ supervisors
 To protect all employees from any health and safety related measures.
 Welfare of all workers in an organisation.
 They have duties to reduce and remove the risks in workplace under the health
and safety law.
 They have the duty to consult about health and safety issues with employees.
Persons conducting business
 They have to provide the better and positive working environment.
 To supply risk-free systems of work (Knowles, et.al., 2014).
 To monitor the workers’ health at workplace.
 Provide time to time training and guidance to all employees.
 Work under legal framework.
Workers

 They have responsibility to complete work on time without adopting any illegal
way.
 Work under company policies and structure.
 If they have some safety and health issues, then discuss with managers or
supervisors.
3 Key elements of WHS law affects the business and workplace
In WHS, there are some key elements which impact on the business environment as well
as workplace. Company adopt the work health and safety act, 2012. In this act, organisation take
care about the health and safety of its employees. So, that they will complete their work without
any uncertainty. The health and safety issues affect business and workplace environment. There
are some elements:
Discrimination- Discrimination is the main issue in organisation. The management
discriminates between male and female (Daley, 2012). They do not treat equally. So, it is not
according to law and thus affects working environment of company.
Training- If company doesnot provide training related to latest machineries and
technologies then in this case they will not have any information and knowledge. It causes risk
and accidents and affects business and work.
Safety and health issues- If company will not provide any information related to safety
and will not consider the safety measures. Then it has an effect on employees and causes the
safety and health issues.
4 Policies and procedures
If in an organisation, there is any risk management, incidents, hazard identification,
evacuations and execution at workplace then in this case the company has to change in their
policies and procedures to reduce these impacts. Company take changes in policies:
 provide training to all workers timely related to new machineries.
 Removing harmful chemicals.
 Provide safe and healthy working environment.
 Give instruction related to new machineries.
 Prepare emergency programme and maintain welfare facilities.
The company make procedure that:

Notification of health injury- If there is any injury to employee then inform quickly to
managers or supervisors (Jiang, et.al., 2012). And then Human Resource manager inform the
insurer of all injuries. The medical officer confirmed that the injured person receives proper
treatment quickly.
Back to work- The coordinator will consult with doctors about the injured worker and
assist the planning to return on work. After this the injured worker should be fill the form of
Consent Form and then return to work. And coordinator states the process of return to work to
the worker.
5 Benefits do effective health and safety consultation offer
In an organisation, WHS consultation is a legal requirement and it is a main and integral
part of managing the health and safety risks (Wright and McMahan, 2011). It is a two-way
process between the management and workers. In this:
 the management and employees talk and discuss with each other about the safety
and health related matters.
 Management have to share the information and views with workers.
 Provide guidance and advice to them.
Cooperation
It means that employees are approaching through other duty holders and consult on
matters of WHS and they should be response to requests and then guide them about their duties
and responsibilities in meetings.
Coordination
It means that the employees and management work together so that everyone know each
other and also meet with their duties. The employees will work in an effective manner and to
reduce risks.
6 Procedures implemented to control risks
To control the risks in a company there is some procedures that are to be followed:
Identify the risk- It is a first step, in this find out the cause of risk and what is the
problem behind this.
Evaluate risks- After identification, the management has to evaluate it. In this the
management has to determine the risks (Huselid and Becker, 2011). In this step, determine the
level of risk and what to do about risk.

Control Risks- In this, the management implement most beneficial and effective control
measures (Lengnick-Hall, Beck and Lengnick-Hall, 2011). It helps in control the risks.
Review control measures- It is the last step, in this the management take review, evaluate
and then see that overall plan is working or not.
7 Various health and safety policies and procedures
In an organisation, there are some policies and procedures regarding health and safety in
workplace. So, from it the employees work in an appropriate manner without any circumstances.
Policies- A good policy helps in protecting the employees from health and safety issues.
In policies, mentioned:
 the legal duties and responsibilities related to health and safety.
 If there is any problem in organisation, then the employees should consult with
the manager or supervisor.
 Management have the responsibility to take care of employees’ health and safety.
 Provide training to employees.
There are some procedures:
 it provides the clearness at the workplace.
 In this, mentioned about the resolving issues regarding health and safety.
 Proper monitoring of employee’s health and working conditions of company.
8 Ensure about WHS policies, procedures and programmes are appropriate
It is to be ensured about the information of WHS procedures, policies and programmes is
available in a proper manner by making a plan and then after this implementing it. After
implementing the plan take review that the plan is working in proper manner or not. After this,
management ensured about that the policies, programmes and procedures are available in proper
manner. The content of procedure should be in written to give the certainty at workplace. It
should be easily convenient and also clear the role of health and safety representatives. Health
and safety policies should be covered the all rules, regulation and safety measures of an
organisation and which are applicable for all employees. It is necessary for employees to protect
from all the uncertainty.
9 Implement and monitor workplace procedures

A company should be work in a legal framework means in a legal way. So, from it there
will be no problem created (CHUANG and Liao, 2010). By making the procedure, it is easy and
manage the work. The main motive of work procedure is to safe the workplace from any risks
related to safety and health. The procedure should be make according to legislative and to take
care of health and safety measures. If the procedure is correct and in proper manner then in the
workplace, employees work in a systematic way without any uncertainty. It helps in manage and
control the risks (Lee, Mahendra and Alvarez, 2010). And also control the safety and healthy
issues. In procedures includes:
 to solve the health and safety issues
 to consult with workers about these issues
 supervise the health of employees at workplace
 give training regarding the safety and health measures.
So, it is necessary to make the procedure and WHS requirements according to law.
