Section Two: Reasons for choosing this research project
Reasons for choosing the project (e.g links to other subjects you
are studying, personal interest, future plans, knowledge/skills you
want to improve, why the topic is important):
Overview of the Research
Globalisation refers to a process through which business organisations that are performing at

domestic level starts operating in global business market. In present time, there are a range of
business organisations that are looking forward to expand themselves at global level. On the
other hand, it also help business firms to grow that are already operating in different nations.
Since, customer's expectations are rapidly changing this has raised both opportunities and risks
for multinational companies (Coker, 2014). This made companies to make alterations among
existing products and services which has been made or developed by the companies. With the
help of changes made by automotive organisations like BMW, Aston Martin and more are
growing rapidly in nature.
Background of the Research
In modern time, globalisation has become one of the necessary subject to study for business
organisations. Companies that has already expanded at global level or firms that are looking
forward to grow at international market faces a range of issues and becomes responsible for
society as well. In this context, German multinational automotive company, BMW was found
in the year of 1916 by Karl Rapp. Company basically, produces auto-mobiles and motorcycles,
and also produced aircraft engines until 1945. here, If it is talked about this organisation, it has
continued to take responsibility for the environment, but also for the people directly or
indirectly in its sphere of activity. This has helped them in expanding business at international
level (Davidson and et. al., 2012).
Rationale of the Research
Considering the article which was given on Automotive news in 2010, that business
organisations like BMW started facing declined among its profit margins and it was very much
required to adopt new technology and this is the basic reason behind conducting the research
considering the topic is that, growth of a business cannot be taken as small thing nowadays
when an organisation is operating business at international level. Factors like rise is
competition, change in customers expectations and more has impacted immensely on profit
margins of BMW. This is why, case of BMW has been taken for present investigation report
(Impact of Globalization of the Automotive Industry, 2018).
Section Three: Literature sources searched

source like books, journals, newspapers, past research projects. This section of research
basically carries a critical evaluation and the integration of data through a number of sources
and a recognisance of any gaps in the review of literature and develops a knowledge base for
enhancing possibilities for future investigations (De Vos, 2012).
Concept of globalisation
As given by Findlay and et. al., (2012), Globalisation can be considered as manifest for
business growth at international level. That means, globalisation has been one of the factor
aiding whole world in improving growth of consuming similar goods and interdependent
production. This was analysed through looking at the growth of foreign direct investment
(FDI) where in major developing nations like United Kingdom, USA, China and more has got
enhanced to $154 billion (1997) from $2.2 billion (1970). Thus, it can easily be said that
globalisation has helped business organisations in growing at international level.
Different strategies which could be used by BMW for business growth
According to the view point of Frambach and et. al., (2012), there are a range of
strategies like market expansion or development, market penetration strategy, product
expansion strategy, growth through diversification and acquisition of other companies which
could be used by BMW at the time of looking forward to expand business in targeted areas.
Main role of globalisation in business growth of BMW
As per Furlong, (2013), globalisation has played a vital role in BMW, as the company
is basically pledged to develop or produce economical, fast cars and bikes. Along with this,
role of globalisation in context with BMW is mentioned beneath:
Align Sales and Marketing
Establish a formal referral program
Expansion of offerings
Focus on customer relationships
Develop strategic partnerships

Section Five: Research approach and methodologies
What type of research approach and methodologies are you likely
to use and why?
In present context, research methodology is being considered as an appropriate
systematic, theoretical evaluation of the methods that are applied to a specified area of study.
Type of Investigation
Mainly researcher could adopt two main methods of research and these are qualitative
and quantitative. In this present investigation work qualitative research has been used by the
researcher. It is most suitable tool for creating appropriate theoretical framework to analysing
the research issue in appropriate manner.
Research Approach
In present research, inductive approach is being utilised by researcher as it is soothing
qualitative method which has already adopted for investigation and it will aid in supporting the
facts and figures.
Research Design
Since researcher has used qualitative research methodology, which basically consist of
a range of research designs and these are exploratory, conclusive and more. In present research
report, researcher is going to use exploratory research, which is conducted for a problem and

helps in intending to establish develop operational definitions, priorities, and lastly which aid
in improving final research.
Research philosophy
Interpritivism and positivism are the two basic philosophies that can be adopted by the
researcher for collecting the right information in specific time frame. Under this research
project, project have taken interpretivism research philosophy,
Data Collection Tools
Secondary and Primary are the two basic and most relevant tools are present that can
be used by researcher in order to collect data related to the topic or aim (Hoffmann and Kumar,
2013). If it is talked about, primary method, researcher has chosen questionnaire as method to
gather relevant information. Along with this, secondary method has also been used to
effectively complete the literature section where books, journals, published articles,
newspapers etc. are being used.
Data Sampling Tools
Researcher in this investigation has used random sampling tool and the sample size of
40 respondents (customers) has been chosen, which will aid in formulating the overall
investigation right on time.
Time scale
Another approach which is specifically, needed for an investigator to complete the
research in specified time frame. Researcher is going to finish the overall investigation within
3 months from February 19, researcher started working on the introduction. On the other hand,
June 9th is the date when investigator is going to finish the overall investigation and submit it
to the tutor.
Ethical issues
This is being considered as one of the most essential area of research methodology
section which a decision-making problem between two possible moral imperative. Therefore,
researcher has also faced a range of issues related to decision making which impacted upon
overall performance level of researcher in specified time frame.
What your areas of research will cover:
