significant for entire labour market in construction within UK by providing optimistic and
unfavourable effect of globalisation over them.
Research questions
What is the basic phenomena of globalisation?
What are the effective ways through which globalisation is implemented in construction
Labour market in UK?
What the impact of globalisation on construction Labour market in UK in past 6 months? What are the relationship between globalisation and its effect on UK Labour market in
construction?
Scope of research
Globalisation has large scope for UK labour market in construction. It will help all labour
market by providing chances to increase their profitability and sales (Dancygier and Walter,
2015). This concept will also help construction labour market by maximising sales, providing job
opportunities and improving living standard of people within United Kingdom. The place where

CHAPTER 2: Literature Review
The concept of globalisation.
According to The Beverly Bird And Carol Kopp, 2019, globalisation is the spread of
information, technology, jobs and products in national cultures and borders. In addition it defines
an independence of countries around the world fostered via free trade. In simple word, it is an
effective process of integration as well as interaction among organisation, people and
government of various countries.
According to John Williamson, globalization refers as a term and process that followed to
define enhancing social, political and economic interaction all over the political as well as
cultural boundaries also. Globalization means integration of economies and societies by cross
country flow of information, technology, ideas, goods and services, finance, capital and people.
There are various dimensions for cross border integration such bas social, cultural, political and
economical etc. Along with this, globalisation is effective term that followed in the limited sense
of economic integration for which there are required 3 main channels such as trade in products
and services, flow of finance and movement of capital. Capital flows across counties have also
played vital role in raising the production base. It was right and true in the 19th and 20th centuries
because mobility of capital is enables the entire saving of the globe to be distributed among
different nations which have the advanced investment potential.
The ways through which globalisation is implemented in construction Labour market in UK.
According to Rusty Weston, it should be important for every company to find out the
strategies which they are going to implement while conducting globalisation. Few ways like
construction company should make connections with the local and central authorities regarding
the wages and salary they are going to pay and various efforts government is ready to do so that
win win situation would be achieved by both the parties (Globalization’s Impact on the Labor
Market, 2019)
According to Theodore Levitt, labor market is a place where workers interact with
another employees of an organisation. There are various ways with the help of them
globalization can implemented in construction labour market in UK such as construction agency,
trading agency and others. With the help of trade liberalization and other ways the labour market
can operate its business at global level. Modern economies can approach to enhanced pool of
international labour by imports of goods an d services through immigration. In UK, by
4

emphasising on trade, the share of developing nation goods in the imports of precocious
economies has multiple. Trade agencies can also registered themselves in that countries where
they are doing globalization in construction labour market.
When the employees and worker of a specific industry, for example; construction sector,
there are various polices and rules are followed by them that are design and developed by a
specific nations where they are operating their business. Changes in labour market policies
constitute another forces that affect labour across advanced economies.
The impact of globalisation on construction Labour market in UK in past 6 months.
According to Geary and Stark, (2015), globalisation will bring new technologies and
development in the society which is a positive sign for future generation but on the other side,
natural resources will deplete to a certain level which will affect the life of labour in a negative
way. Moreover, it will also bring advanced technologies in the construction business due to
which less workers would be hire by the company thus resulting in less development of jobs.
According to Timothy Michael Lewis, globalisation create various impact on construction sector
by generating competition, growth, commodities, domestic polices and others. Globalization
affect on the cost and forces down the construction services price by decreasing the quality of an
organisation to get additional margins by competitive pressure. Globalisation provide permits
construction organisation to accomplish economies of scale as they are progressively liberated
from the size constraints of their home markets. Cause of foreign contractors in to domestic
markets, globalisation has unfiled the mode of procurement is completed. It also have huge effect
on different factors of production by which the actual integration of the global economy begins.
Relationship between globalisation and its impact on UK Labour market in construction.
According to Uri Dadush and William Shaw, globalisation is helping labour market in a
positive way as it is integrating the market by providing high number of jobs to them. Besides
this it also decrease inequality in the market as wages and salary is given to the labour according
to the work they are doing instead of giving wages on the basis of discrimination, gender etc.
Apart from this, globalisation is also enhancing standard of living of people as they are getting
their wages according to the rules set by the local authority which ends up at reducing
unemployment rate and poverty in the labour market employees (Globalization, Labor Markets,
and Inequality, 2019)

According to Sabine Hoover, By generating higher number of employment in the market
globalization create positive impact on the construction sector. But when a company operate this
business at global level, there are various changes that are made by government in policies, it
affect the labour market negatively and there relationship of globalization. In terms of labour
market, globalization affect it in various ways by making change in the legislations that are
followed by the trade agencies when they are making movement of labour at international level.
By maximising labour migration, skills mismatch, variation in work content as well as working
conditions all are the impact of globalisation in construction labour market. Positive impact
generate as a outcome of the maximised capability of developing nations to develop an unique
chances for the work as well as production by using the alleviation of value in order to labour
and capital. FDI also has indirect affect on employment by vertical links and there are various
technical changes occur that positively affect the construction sector as well as construction
labour market. The traditional nature of work might be disappear due to various rapid changes
cause of advance technology that negatively impacted this sector.
CHAPTER 3: Methodology
Research methodology is an important part for doing each activities or tasks of
investigation in systematic way. This chapter includes, research approach, research techniques,
data collection sources and data analysis techniques. All these are determine as under:
Research approach: There are basically two approach of research which is, inductive
and deductive. For doing current investigation, inductive approach is useful because it will assist
a researcher to drive accurate conclusion for investigation. On the other side, there is deductive
approach, which is not appropriate for concluding better results for research.
Research techniques: There are different types of research techniques such as
questionnaires, interviews, modelling, case study, observation etc. All these are essential for

In order to find accurate information and response of respondents about the topic,
questionnaire is prepared by the researcher. For selecting accurate sample size from total
population, there are basically two form of sampling method such as probability and non-
probability. Both methods are useful, but according to the current investigation, non-probability
and in which convenience sampling must be used by researcher (Coulter, 2016). Main purpose
behind applying this method, as it not require more resources of an organisation or researcher.
Therefore, with the use of convenience sampling method, 50 respondents will be taken into
consideration.
