INTRODUCTION
Through the process of organisation behaviour an individuals behaviour is studied that how they
behave in a group. It is done to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation. The
basic idea behind the organisation behaviour is to use the basic principles in the organisation so
that the over all performance of the individual can be improved(Moussaïd,Helbing and
Theraulaz,2011). The impact of an individual on the business environment is studied under the
organisational behaviour study. Individuals are motivated to perform well by using different
motivation techniques so that they work with their full dedication. The following report will tell
how the organisation structure has impact on the overall growth of the organisation.

Lo1 Compare and contrast different organisation structure and culture:
By organisational structure it refers to the culture that is followed in any organisation. A good
organisational structure motivates the employees to work effectively and for this different
motivation tools are followed by the different mangers and leaders of the organisation. In any
organisation culture proper hierarchy is followed from top to bottom and different employee at
different level has his contribution in the organisation working. In an organisation the culture of
motivation,encouragement to be more innovative and believe of doing not discussion is
developed giving rewards to the employees which may be monitory or non monitory in nature.
The structure of the organisation can be understood under different heads:
1.Functional structure: according to this the whole organisation is divided into different
functions. As there are various different functions which are carried out in the organisation each
function has different department and different department head(Yuan and Woodman,2010).
Each department head of Enterprise rent a car work towards maintaining coordination among
different departments.
2.Geographical structure: this structure is followed in the big organisation in order to meet the
demands of people at different area. In order to increase he total sales there is a need to have
direct contact with the market and therefore regional and area distribution is done to have
effective planning and controlling
3.Matrix structure: it is more of a traditional structure. Through this structure flexibility is
maintained in the organisation. In this communication take place in all the directions vertical

horizontal and diagonal also. Through this structure it is possible that an individual may face
problem of unity in command as a same person receives command from different individuals
which may lead to confusion.
1.2 Impact of organisational structure and culture on the performance of the business
Organisational structure facilitates effective management in the organisation. Through this
effective leadership and management skills are developed in the organisation which help in
smooth functioning of the of the organisation and help in increasing the growth rate of any
business(Normane,2010). Through the process of organisation structure whole organisation is
divided into different department which help in the elimination of confusion that who is
accountable to whom. Everyone is clear with their duties and also the responsibilities are given
accordingly. This also help in maintaining the process of management that is
planning,organising,staffing coordinating and controlling in the organisation. In order to
calculate the growth of City College and Enterprise Rent a Car the performance of the company
is judged. It is studied how the inputs of the organisations are converted into output and what are
its results. Therefore if the company has good organisational structure only than the recurses will
be effectively utilised as a result of better allocation of each resource.
Simple organisation maintains a simple organisation structure so that unity of command and easy
flow of information in the organisation can be maintained. Also through this accountability and
responsibilities of an individuals are made clear which helps in maintaining control in the
organisation. Future expansion and growth depends so much on the structure of the organisation
as an effective structure helps in keeping control over the different cost of the organisation by the
effective controlling process(Gibson and Lawrence,2011). Also it helps in giving more
satisfaction to the customers by fulfilling their demands and also by providing good customer
services.
1.3 Factors that influence individual behaviour at work
There are various factors which influence individual behaviour at work. These factors can be
social personal or biological. They can be further studied under different heads as following:
1.Personal Attitude- It is a basic factor that has so much of influence on the individual behaviour
at work. It is how an individual react to different situations. It is very important for all in the
business to continue with positive attitude as the business environment is never constant and

keeps on fluctuating. Therefore there re chances that sometimes the environment is against our
business in that case it is important to deal the situation with positive attitude.
2.Ability of an individual- It is a personal quality of an individual. This is different for different
employees as all posses different abilities to perform different tasks. Some are good at one thing
other on something other. It is natural capabilities which can be improved to a extent by giving
proper training. Abilities may be intellectual ability,self awareness abilities or other physical
abilities.
3.Gender: it is that factor over which an individual has no control. Both the males and the
females are given equal opportunities and encouraged to give their best in the organisation. Their
performance is influenced by their perspective towards the job(Heyes,2010). If they are satisfied
with their job type than they perform accordingly and if not than their performance will remain
affected.
4.Race and culture: These are the factors which may effect the performance of the individual. In
every organisation employees with different caste and culture work under the same roof.
Therefore it is important to give equal importance to all the employees so that equality can be
maintained in the organisation. For a successful organisation it is important that all the
employees feel free to express themselves in front of the authorities and get equal advantages
like each other.

2.1 Effectiveness of leadership style in different organisation
“City college and Enterprise Rent a car” has good leadership in the organisation. This is helping
the organisation to get better results from the employees as through adopting these styles
employee are made more focused and their vision to achieve the ultimate goal is made more
clear. Leadership style at this organisation are as follows:
1.Autocratic and Authoritarian leadership: this type of leadership in the organisation has helped
in establishing good leadership in the organisation. This has helped in effective dession making
process. Once the decision is taken by the leader of the autocratic it is followed by all and than
no one questions the decision taken by their leader(Huczynski and Buchanan 2010). These
leadership has different categories like the manipulative autocrat leadership,benevolent
leadership and hard boiled autocratic leadership.

2.Participative leadership: In this although the leader takes the ultimate decision but he
encourages others also to participate in the decision taking. The leader takes suggestions from all
this help in making more effective decision as the decision is supported by many. Also this style
of leadership helps in giving the employees a feeling of belongingness which encourage them to
perform good.
3. Free rein leadership: in this the decision taking power is delegated to the subordinates. These
are the decisions which are less important and do not have much effect on the actual goal of the
businesses.
2.2 Organisation theory underpins the practice of management
Division of labour, bureaucratic and contingency,modernisation and rational system perspective
comes under the organisation theory. These different theories help in analysing the organisation.
With the help of division of labour theory different work is divided into different employees. The
work is allotted according to the nature and capabilities of an individual. This help in getting
more effective results. Modernization theory focusses on the adaption of change that take place
in the business environment and this helps the organisation to face the business competition.
Theory of contingency help in making the arrangements for the future. In this preparations are
done for the anticipated problems which may occur in the future so that the degree of risk can be
minimised(Kehoe and Wright 2013 ). The rational theory focuses on two parts one is the ultimate
goal of the organisation and other is the formulation of standards through which the goal will be
achieved. This is an important theory as this give guidance to the employees as how they have to
achieve the goal of the organisation .
These theories help in the success of the organisations and also maintain coordination in different
activities. By applying these theories in the organisation the “City college and Enterprise Rent a
car” has achieved his objectives and also looking forward to do the growth in the future.
2.3 Different approaches to the management that are used by 'City College and Enterprise Rent a
car':
Both these organisation use two approaches to achieve their targets. These approaches help in
keeping everyone focused and get better results from them. The approaches are as follows
1.Contingency approach:Contingency is uncertainty. As the economic,social,environmental,legal
and political environment of the business keeps on changing company need to do the proper
forecasting of future. Though the future can not be predicted totally with the help of the

contingency approach arrangements for the predictable risk are done in advance. This help the
organisation to face the uncertainties with more effectiveness and so that the risk to business can
be minimised to the minimum level. It is an important approach as in this competitive market if
due to the future uncertainness the functioning of the organisation is hindered there are chance
that due to late reactions the company may come under great loss. For this purpose effective
planning is required so that the assumptions do not vary much with the actual reality.
2.Human relation approach: In big organisations it is important to have human relation approach.
This approach helps in establishing good relation with the employees which is very important for
the growth of the organisation. By maintaining good relation with the employees they can be
motivated more to work in an efficient and effective manner. Employee feel satisfied with their
work and works with a positive attitude which is helpful in increasing the overall productivity of
the firm.

3.1Impact of leadership styles on motivation and behaviour of staff:
The effect of leadership style in an organisation and its effect on employees performance. Their
are so many types of leadership style such as participative, autocratic, democratic style. If you
are autocratic leader then you always give pressure on your subordinator and the employees will
not do work properly. The style of democratic leadership is to analyse the situation of employees
in the organisation. Participative leadership is a style in which manager gives company a
decision with the participation of employees in it. Leadership has a positive impact on the
motivation of the employees(LiuZhu and Yang2010 ). Their impact can be better studied under
different heads:
1.Communication: leader take the first step towards the employee in which the policies and
working of the organisation is made clear to the employees. They are told as how they have to
work and what are policies which need to be followed in the organisation. It is an important part
as before giving the task to the employees they need to be made clear about how they have to do
their work.
2.Clears vision: In an organisation employees get the command from different individuals
therefore there are chances that they get confused as what exactly the have to do. Therefore in
this case leaders help in keeping the employees focused and clear with what exactly they are

expected to do in the organisation. It is very important as only than productivity can be improved
and also the business can expand.
3.Provide assistance- As in the organisation various activities takes place at the same time the
employees need to be assist at every stage as how they have to work. It helps in eliminating the
errors and time of duplication of work can be saved. Also through this the performances can be
checked on regular basis which helps in keeping effective control on individuals performances.
4.Coordination- Through participative leadership style coordination in the organisation activities
is maintained by keeping the different activities coordinated with one another. This way the
whole organisation work in a balanced manner.
3.2Motivational theory and its effect on workforce

effect on the workforce. Some of them are as follows:
1.Equity theory: According to this theory everyone should be treated equally. No discrimination
on unfair grounds should be done with the employees(Forbes and Dahl, 2010). Unequal pay for
same work or bonus given by unfair means or promotion of an individual due to personal
relations are the example which can effect the performance and attitude of the employees.
Therefore in order to maintain healthy environment in the organisation one should maintain
equity at the work place.
2.Need motivation theory:According to this theory the needs of the individuals must be identified
and than that need of an individual act as a tool of motivation for them. If an individual work
with a diversion of a need in the mind he can not work with total dedication. That need will keep
on distracting him therefore in order to motivate him that need should be provided to that
individual.
3.Herzberg's motivation theory: In this theory all the factors that may demotivate an individual
are removed from the organisation. This theory says that if there are factors present in the
organisation which can divert the employees from their focus should be removed so that their
performance do not get hamper and they work with more dedication.
After studying the above theories it is clear that motivation have positive impact on the
performance of the employees. Both the monitory and non monitory ways of motivation has their
own importance in the organisation. Therefore motivation should be done in regular basis in
order to increase the companies total productivity.

3.3 Usefulness of motivational theory for manager
As the motivational theory has positive effect on the workforce similarly it also helps the
manager in the organisation in various ways.
1.Helps in getting work done:By providing positive motivation managers can motivate employee
to work with full dedication towards a particular project. Only if the manger has good motivation
power he can get the resources effectively utilised by the employees and get the project
completed on time.
2.Cost control: In the process of motivation employees are motivated to work as a family. When
the employee gets the feeling of belongingness with the organisation he takes the resources of
the organisation as their responsibility(Mai and Paxinos 2011). This helps in increasing the
working efficiency, increase in the productivity with incurring minimum cost on productivity.
3.Friendly environment: In the process of motivation everyone is treated equally. No one is
benefited with extra advantages over other without any reason. This brings a healthy
environment in the organisation and everyone feel happy at the work place. This motivates
individual to do good job which results into increase in the total efficiency of an individual.
4.1 Nature of group and group behaviour
A group is a collection of different individuals who come together for a particular project or
assessment. They share a common objective and work for the organisation. They all work to
satisfy the needs and wants of the organisation with the combine efforts of all. They all work in
coordination with one another and try to maintain good quality of work. People in group are
given more benefit. They get more recontamination the organisation in comparison to
individuals. When people demand in group they are answered with more responsibility and this
way they are protected against any exploitation by the head authorities.
The nature of the group can be broadly classified into formal and informal group:
Formal Group: Group of people combined together by the management of the organisation to
work for a particular task or project comes under formal group. They are created for achieving
the targets of the organisations. Few informal groups are as follows:
1.1Technological group: In this the members of the group possess knowledge of technology and
are provided with the technical work of the organisation.

1.2.Task group: these are the groups created for a particular task or project. These groups remain
in the groups till the task given is not completed(Nadiri and Tanova,2010). Once the task is
completed group also get over.
2.Informal Group:These are the groups which are created by the employees themselves. Their
individual goals are different. They are more loyal to each other and share good relations with
one another.
4.2 Factors that promote or inhibit the development of effective teamwork:
1.Member of groups- A group is effective only if the members of the group are effective and
work in coordination with one another. They all should be focused and determined towards their
tasks and work with positive attitude so that the goal can be achieved.
2.Good leadership: it is necessary for the informal groups to have a good leder. Only if group
has a good leader all the members of the group will work in a focused manner and the goal of the
organisation will be accomplished.
3.Group size: Big groups means more complex flow of information. In order to be effective in
doing the task small groups are preferred over the big groups(Parker and Collins,2010).
Communication take place easily and more effective work is done in groups with less members.
4.Group norms:These are the basic guidelines or code of conduct which is provieded to the
members of the group and they follow these norms as long as they are part of that group. These
norms could be related to the code of conduct, the dress code or the minimum attendance. In
many cases actions can be taken against those who violate the norms of the group.
5.Synergy: It is believed that the results are more effective when they are given by group efforts.
Therefore in order to bring synergic effect in the organisation the group should work with more
dedication and responsibility to give the best results.
4.3 Impact of technology on team functioning of 'City College and Enterprise Rent a car'
It is wrong to say that technology always have positive effect on the business. There are mixed
effects of technology on the business(Samuels and Shugart,2010). It is necessary for all the
business type to remain updated with the technology as only than one can maintain its stand in
the competition of the market. Only by using the the latest technology one can think to be excel
in his field. For city college it is important that they remain updated in the technology to provide
the students with what is best for them(Walumbwa,2010). Online services has become very
popular and has maximum demand in the market. Car rent company can provide their customers

with online services like provide them help line number, making their own site where customer
can ask their quarries or can get the other required information. Team function can be improved
by mailing system, making the use of cell phones more etc(Walumbwa Hartnell and Oke,2010).
these technology change help the companies in increasing their total customer by enhancing their
powers to cover more market.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that if an organisation is having good organisational
structure than it can develop more than in comparison to the other. It is important for the City
college and Enterprise Rent Car to follow the above organisation behaviour in the organisation
so that the employees work with more dedication and the productivity can be improved. In order
to have cost control in the organisation motivation is very important. With creating different
groups in the organisation same task can be done more efficiently. Above all it is also important
for both these companies to remain updated with the latest technology so that they can face the
competition in the market.
