Introduction
Information system refers to software which aids within organisation as well as analysis
of data. Basically, it is accountable for converting raw data within useful information through
which decisions can be made (Logan, 2020). They furnish firms with relevant storage,
computational power, sharing as well as interaction with distinct aspects. To acknowledge this
concept, BJSS is considered that is headquartered in Leeds, UK. They are IT consultant and
provide their customers with customised solution. This report will provide an insight into ways
in IS supports within decisions making and models for designing of solution.
LO3 Illustrate how information system is responsible for supporting management decisions
The scrutiny of complementary networks of software as well as hardware that is utilised
for collection, filtering, processing, creation and its transmission is known as information system.
It is being utilised by organisation to make sure that they are able to carry out their operations as
per desired standard. BJSS has opted to make use of distinct information systems as per
requirements of unlike levels or departments of organisation. They are specified below:
Transaction Processing System: This is being utilised for maintaining everyday
transactions that are being conducted within organisation. They are used by operational
management levels with a rationale to have answer to daily queries such as how many
software’s have to be developed, what is the inventory left and many others. These can be
answered through TPS in timely manner (Shuman and et. al, 2020). The decisions are
being made via operational managers in highly structured as well as routine manner and
reports that are being produced are detailed. In this context, BJSS can make use of stock
control systems for keeping track of their inventory levels.
Management information system: Within BJSS, MIS is being utilised via tactical
managers for monitoring current performance of organisation. The outcomes attained
from transaction processing system are used like a input in MIS. It is liable for analysing
input within routine algorithms which are liable for aggregation, making comparison as
well as summarising the outcomes to furnish reports that are being used by tactical
managers for monitoring, controlling and prediction of future performance (Turner,
