THE BUSINESS
Business details
Apple Inc. is a leading company that designs, develops and delivers computer software, consumer electronics, hardware i.e.
iPhone, iPad, tablet computer, Watch, TV and others. It was established in the year 1976 and headquartered in California, US. Its
Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) plans i.e. Global Volunteer Program, workers empowerment, EHS (Employee Health and
Safety), Energy consumption, Clean Water Program, environmental safety, waste management are held by Environmental Initiatives
President, Lisa Jackson (Apple Corporate Social Responsibility, 2017). The plan is about how firms can manage its internal business
functions so as to create positive impact on the society. In now-a-days, CSR is being emerged as a paramount of organizational
functions, wherein, firms make considerable amount of efforts for the social welfare. In the current business case, being Apple’s
representative, we have planned to carry out a CSR campaign which aims to expand & promote apple’s products and services by
undertaking various CSR initiatives and plans in Asian country. Currently, we have planned to undertake a social welfare campaign in
Vietnam, in which, people will be provided with the free of cost healthcare services so as to enjoy a healthier life ( Anh Duc and et.al.,
2012).
Owing to this, Vietnam is targeted because currently, its healthcare system combines both Eastern and Western medicine, and
the country’s government is struggling in order to establish a universal plan of healthcare that will satisfy basic medical necessities of
citizens. Currently, people have to pay cost at both public as well as private hospitals and in often cases; residents opt for private
establishments as they are comparatively well-equipped with innovative facilities. However, public hospitals face issues due to lack of
fund, unavailability of advanced equipments, lack of medical staff and doctors and lacking ICUs, as a result, people are unable to get
best quality medical treatment (Healthcare in Vietnam, 2017). Although in cities like Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh city, there are sufficient
pharmacies which are well stocked, still, most hospitals are overcrowded and outdated; hence, they are unable to serve both the
provincial and locally resided people. However, in public establishments, equipments become obsolete which need replacement.
Although in the state budge, government allocate increased fund to healthcare sector, still, it is far less so as to meet basic healthcare

needs of people (Vietnam-Healthcare, 2017). Sunstroke, sunburn, infectious diseases and dehydration are very common health
hazards in the city. Taking into consideration increasing prevalence of people medical necessities, it is decided to set Apple’s CSR
campaign in Hanoi to serve people with the best quality of health treatment. Our CSR plan will be work as a mechanism which will
undertake socially useful programs for the community welfare and their sustainable development. In this, it is decided to invest 5% of
Apple Inc’s profitability to the plan, however, medicine, vaccination and required supplies will be purchased from the leading
pharmaceutical company, Pfizer.

Registration details
CSR campaign in Hanoi, Vietnam may require several registration requirements i.e. Medical Device Registration. Apart from
this, there are certain regulatory requirements which need to be complied with such as documentary requirement; Quality Management
System covers both Quality Control & Assurance and others (Banalieva and Dhanaraj, 2013).
Business premises
In order to set a welfare campaign at Hanoi, Vietnam for providing people with the medical facilities and benefits, a business
premises at centre of the city with adequate size will be needed. In order to organize CSR campaign in Hanoi, there are two choices
available, either to buy a premise or take the building on lease. As it is a CSR plan which does not require premises for lengthy period,
therefore, it is decided to take building on rent at a fixed monthly rental charges. Tanlong Property Company will be contracted so as
to hire an adequate size of rental property in the central area of the city. While selecting the location, there are few consideration will
be targeted includes central location, adequate size, right cost and easy convenience for the people and others (Biswas, 2013).
Organizational chart
It presents hierarchy or organizational framework which clearly demonstrates relationship the relationship between various
business activities, tasks and staff. It underpins that how the CSR program will be undertaken in Vietnam along with the level of
management and reporting authority. For the planned CSR initiative, it is constructed here as under:

Management and ownership
According to above designed CSR structure, it becomes clear that CSR committee will be the central authority that includes
Chairman, Managing Director and other Board members who will set vision, mission and objectives for planned CSR campaign.
They will communicate set agenda and plans to the CSR project manager who will head entire project and look after its appropriate
implementation to deliver healthcare facilities to the people for their welfare. Apart from this, the managerial team comprises technical
expert, test lead, change manager, team leader and PMO. In emergent unpredictable cases, there may be a need to implement
necessary changes in the planned program, which is headed by change manger but, still, final decisions whether to implement required
changes or not will be taken by the CSR Sterling Committee (Meredith, and et.al., 2011). However, supervisor will monitor their
subordinates work and overlook after smooth functioning of the CSR plan. Thus, he will be work as a reporting authority to which the
staff members need to report timely. In order to ensure that all the things are well-managed, project progress reports will be
maintained and conveyed to the board members so that they can devise necessary decisions for the sound strategic management
(Larson and Gray, 2011). In the hiring plan, doctors, nurses and other staff members will be hired domestically from Vietnam because
they will be available at cheaper cost which minimizes labor cost. All the staff members will be provided with a short-training so that
they have good knowledge of various requirements which our CSR plan has targeted (Braithwaite, 2013).
EXPERIENCE
Key personnel
APPLE is planning to carry out its corporate social responsibility related project and in this project entire management will be
look after by the firms employees. Appropriate structure will be prepared under which there will be manager and employees under
him. All individuals will be from Vietnam as Directors will look after entire project and will ensure that each and every activity will
be performed in proper manner in the business. It will be ensured that there is appropriate structure in respect to implementation of
CSR project. Under this, Director of APPLE business in Vietnam will be head of project and under it there will be HR manager.
5
Document Page
Remaining employees will work under supervision of HR manager. Hence, in this way appropriate structuring will ensure that project
will be performed in systematic manner.
Products / Services
In CSR project there will be several medicines that will be distributed among respondents free of cost. Apart from this,
services of Doctors and nurses will be taken which will play a vital role in making this project successful. There is need to hire doctors
and nurses that have good professional record so that best quality of services can be provided to the people and make them satisfied. It
can be said that in respect to current corporate social responsibility project there are less variety of products that are available in the
market. However, product categories are limited but within medicines there are wide variety of items that will be provided to patients
(Braithwaite, 2013).
Innovation
Innovation is the one of the important tool that make any project successful. Innovation refers to something new that is done in
anything like machine or project. In current corporate social responsibility program also innovation will be done. Under this, only
experienced and highly professional doctors will be hired for medical camp (Dhaliwal and et.al., 2011). Usually, such kind of camps
are also organized by government and in that any doctor is appointed which sometimes make these camps ineffective. Selection of
highly professional doctors will ensure that innovation is done in project and same will be effective.
Insurance
During program individuals that are patient of any big disease will be recommended to approach an insurance company and
obtain health insurance. This is because when an individual is suffered from any disease medical bills are very high and due to this
reason one find himself in problem (Bristy, 2012). In order to sort out this problem it is necessary to recommend patients to do health
insurance so that in case of any contingent situation if big money is required through health insurance sufficient amount of money can
be obtained. Such kind of recommendations will make patients feel sense of belongingness and caring nature of doctors will be
reflected which will make entire campaigning effective.

improved to great extent. Business is exposed to multiple sort of risks and due to this reason it have to adopt proper risk management
system in its business. In case of current project also proper risk management system will be adopted (Barnea and Rubin, 2010).
Under this separate panel will be prepared under which Director will be chairman and senior as well as junior HR will be team
member in panel. On daily basis this panel will do meeting and will ensure that all things are organized in proper manner. Hence, it
can be said that risk management system of firm is effective (Contractor, 2012).
Legal considerations
There are specific rules and regulations in respect to each and every thing whether it is business or any act. In case of current
business firm also rules and regulations applied. As per rules it is mandatory for the business firms to perform CSR activities in case if
their profitability cross certain limit (Ganor and Halperin Wernli, 2013). By complying with rules APPLE is performing CSR under
which medical camp will be organized and treatment will be given to needy people. It can be said that there are less rules and
regulations in respect to performance of CSR activities and it is very important to follow these rules in order to avoid any legal action
by government (Halydier, 2012.).
Operations
As part of operations APPLE will organize medical camp in Vietnam. In order to increase business in Vietnam it is very
important to create good image of the firm among people and due to this reason CSR will be performed in relevant nation ( Bénabou
and Tirole, 2010). Under this for specific time period medical camp will be organized and under this on different disease treatment
will be given to the people. It can be said that CSR activities will be performed on wide level.

Sustainability plan

prepared by the business firms to maintain stability in business and its operations. In current project that is related to performance of
CSR activity there is need to bring sustainability (Hassali and et.al., 2013). This is because in initial stage it is possible that project

Manage closely: Directors are one important stakeholder as they have high interest and power is high and due to
this reason they must be closely informed about any updates that are happening in project. Same thing applied in
case of employees as they will implement entire project and due to this reason need to receive time to time
information from Directors. Monitor: Pfizer have low interest in the firm because through CSR name of APPLE will become popular not of
company (What is power interest grid, 2017). They also can not influence firm CSR project at wide level. Hence,
only monitoring need to be given to supply and availability of items by Pfizer.
Keep informed: Patients that will come in camp have high interest and low influence on firm CSR campaign.
Hence, they comes in keep informed category where there proper treatment must be done and best advise must
be given to them (Kuntluru, Muppani and Khan, 2012).

THE MARKET
Market research
Market research is the one of the important tool that is used by the business firms to make business decisions. While taking
decision about organizing camp it is necessary to select appropriate place as location where medical camp will be organized. This is
because if there will be appropriate location it will be more easy to attract relevant sort of people. In this regard medical camp will be
17
Document Page
organized at a place which is nearby to private hospital (Li, 2014). By doing so more awareness will be developed about health
program among people without making heavy expenditure on advertisement. Best location identification is another main benefit that
can be derived from market research. It is always important to select best place where camp can be organize. There may be a specific
place where large number of cases of specific disease may be organized. In order to solve such kind of problem medical camp may be
organized at nearby location. All these things can be identified only on basis of market research (Linh, Huong and Thuy, 2015).
Market targets
Market target is the term that is also known by name target market. While selling any product it is very important to select
appropriate sort of people as target market because by doing so sale of product can be done in better manner. In case of CSR activity
that firm intend to conduct target market will be those people that are suffered from specific disease like cancer or malaria etc. Small
treatments are usually given in camps but it will be first camp where treatment on high level of disease will be given to patients. Thus,
it can be said that final target will be those people that heavily suffered from chronic disease from long time (Mansell, 2014.).
Environmental / industry analysis
CSR is related to social activity and due to this reason it is not much affected by business environment directly. However, it
can be said that indirectly CSR is affected by business environment. PESTLE analysis factors that may affect CSR performance is
explained below. Political factors: It is the one of the main factor that have heavy impact on the business firms and their CSR activities. It is the
political party’s decisions that make any task easy or tough (Corporate social responsibility and business environment impact,
2017). Political environment promote performance of CSR activities and due to this reason it can be said that political
environment is in favour of the business firm. However, there is need to ease rules and regulations so that easily CSR related
projects can be executed (Masoud, 2013).

Economic factors: It is another factor that have heavy impact on business firm. Economic factors directly affects firm’s
performance in terms of profitability and sales. In case any firm earn low profit in business it does not perform CSR or if
perform it then it works on very low level. Social factors: Social factor is another factor that to some extent affect success of campaigning. There are number of people
who think that in camps services are not provided in proper manner and due to this reason does not prefer to visit such kind of
camps. Apart from this, such kind of people also motivate individuals not to visit camp. Hence, such kind of things negatively
affect effective campaigning. Technological factors: Technology factor affects campaigning of CSR as in many projects that are like related to medical. Use
of advanced technology to large extent positively affect a project. Environmental factors: Environmental factors are considered while performance of CSR activity. Now a day’s people are
becoming more aware about CSR and due to this reason there are large number of firms that are performing CSR on
environment protection.
Legal factors: There are less rules and regulations and due to this reason firms does not need to bother about that.
Customers
Project is related to CSR and due to this reason there will be no customers. Instead of this, there will be patients or people that
are suffered from specific disease as target people. It can be said that this project will benefit a lot of people.
