INTRODUCTION
Human resource management refers to utilisation and allocation of resources
properly. It helps an organisation to select specialised workers for a firm. HR manager also
perform some other functions like giving salary to their employees and many more. HR is
primarily works on the management of workers in an organisation focusing on policies and
on systems. Present report is based on all the functions performed by human resource
manager and also about its planning made by the management. It helps in the globalisation of
an organisation and promotes the employment legislative functions in an organisation. So,
employees rights can not be get harm. They also provide proper training to their workers and
helps them in their development as well as promotes the development of an organisation. All
these points are more evaluated in the given study.
TASK 1 Human resource management and its functions of HR
Human resource management is the process through which human resources are
managed by an organisation. It plays a very important role and part in a firm. This managerial
function responsible for overseeing employees benefits as well as all activities of selection
and recruitment have also done by them. In Palermo safe storage, HR activities are not done
by them properly(Armstrong and Taylor,2014). They have to properly use their human
resource so, they can maximize productivity of an organisation. They have to manage firm
human capital and mainly focus on implementing policies and strategies for an organisation.
HR manager performs many function in an organisation. So, they have to understand their
work and place in cited firm. Some of the functions which are performed by an human
resource managers are as follow:
Recruitment: Selection of wide range of specialised workers is the main and primary
function of HR manager(BloomVan and Reenen,2012). It helps them to recruit appropriate
employee in an organisation and select only those candidates which are eligible for that
purpose. There are several other task which are including in this like interview, job
description, salary negotiation all these are done by HR manager.
Training: When an organisation hired a candidate, major duty of this department is to
provide proper training to their workers. This is because every department performs functions
in different way. So, they have to provide this training to those workers in every department.
Development: After providing appropriate training, human resource department have
to identify convenient opportunities for their employees. This term is elaborated as
professional development of each and every employee on individual basis.

properly. So, they can increase their organisational efficiency together with their employees.
All these functions helps them to attain their targets with their workers help.
All the functions done by HR helps an organisation to select skilled candidate which
is appropriate for a firm. They have to maintain such plans which can help them to achieve
business objectives. A skilled and capable employee always work effectively. They have to
maintain ethical practices in an organisation, so firms can not harm their employees and
society welfare. These kind of strategies have to maintain by HR, so that they can achieve
organisational objectives(Boxall and Purcel,2011)
Task 2 HR planning and its importance
Human resource planning is the continuous systematic planning for achieving
optimum use of organisational most valuable resources which are human resource. The main
objective of human resource planning is to maintain a balance between employees and job
while avoiding manpower shortage and surplus. It is a process which helps an organisation to
identify current and future human resource needs for an organisation to achieve its goals. It is
a type of link between strategic plan of an organisation to the human resource management.
It is that process in which human resource requirement is identified for an organisation and
plans are made for satisfying their needs.
HR department of Palermo safe storage have to establish a proper plan regards to their
organisation. Some of their employees are dismissed due to trying to made trade unions.
Company have to manage their employees in such a manner so, that they will not face any
kind of issues like this in future. They have to maintain such plans through which they can
use their organisational resources properly. Department have to analyse the future demand of
workers with current position so, it became helpful to them to achieve their goals.
Proper planning of human resources helps them to take qualified and skilled workers
in their organisation. It helps them in sourcing appropriate employees for their entity. An HR
plan can address both tactical and strategical needs. Tactical addresses that how a firm can
deal out with day to day staffing issues and compliances with government regulations are
managed. A strategic HR plans helps an organisation to grow advanced recruitment and
training programmes(Bratton and Gold,2012). Some of the importance of HR planning are as
follow so, that the productivity of an organisation can be increased:
