AZ could not forecast that till their time of contract withIBM, the business processes would change so rapidly that thecontract could not accommodate them. The organization hadso much dependence on the Information Technologycapabilities that they could not track the termination of thecontract, therefore missing one of the most intricate andcrucial part of the business.2. WHAT MISTAKES DID IBM MAKE?IBM made a mistake as well since there have beenknowledge transferred over the entire organization that IToutsourcing contracts are hard to achieve and they aresubjected to changes achieving too many difficulties.Therefore, the organization should have had a detailed viewabout the contract termination about the services they were toprovide to AstraZeneca. 3. WHY ARE OUTSOURCING CONTRACTS FOR FIVEOR MORE YEARS?Contract outsourcing for IT takes place for five ormore years because the services provided as data centeroperations, tend to provide the services in a much morematured way of delivering services. This also applies to theconstant changes in business processes and the technologicalfields. Therefore, an organization should provide for thechanges to be made according to the changing structure of theorganization and economy.4. WHY DO YOU THINK TWO MAJORCORPORATIONS COULD MAKE SUCH MISTAKES?The mishap has occurred due to the lack ofperceptiveness and bad assumptions. In similar way thatAstraZeneca could not assume that the business processchanges would be too rapid to fortify the contract they didwith IBM for IT outsourcing. IBM also made the mistake ofoverlooking the details in the contract about the the offeredservices.5. DO YOU THINK THE 2007 SLA WAS DOOMED TOFAIL? EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWER.It was evitable that the 2007 SLA was indeeddoomed to fail miserably. Both the companies had failed toprovide the relevant attention to the contracts that were made.AZ could not envisage that the business processes wouldchange so rapidly till their time of contract with IBM. Suchthat the contract could not accommodate them. Again, IBMmade a mistake as well since there have been knowledgetransferred over the entire organization that IT outsourcingcontracts are hard to achieve.6. WHAT PROVISIONS IN THE 2012 SLAS PROTECTASTRAZENECA AND THE VENDORS?One of the principles specifies the fact that thecompany that is providing IT operations through outsourcingshould fix first and then get paid. This means that AstraZenecashould fix the problems regarding the immediate problemsfirst and then should question about the amount of money tobe paid. For getting faster solutions, AstraZeneca has agreedto pay to the vendor first. If any case of conflict had occurred,both the parties could have subjected to appeal to anindependent arbiter who is able to oversee the policy of thecompany.7. WHY WOULD PARTIES PREFER TO USE ANARBITRATOR INSTEAD OF FILING A LAWSUIT INCOURT?If the company used and arbitrator, it would be lessexpensive in comparison with fighting a lawsuit against thecompany. It would also consume much less amount of timeand would have the less of a confrontational approach sinceboth the parties have regarded contacting an arbitratorbeforehand.II.PART B: INFORMATION MANAGEMENTINTRODUCTIONInformation Management is a cycle of processing ofinformation in an organization, acquiring from one or moresources and distribution of the information through the entireorganization spanning through the needs of the requiredpersonnel.
