INTRODUCTIONManagement and operation are the key element of the strength of an industry. Along withit, management and leadership is also an critical element in the industry as it assist in utilising theresources of the company in order to attaining the goal. The selected organisation for the presentstudy is McDonalds. The study will provide an understanding about the duty and characteristicof a leader and manager of the industry and will analyse how their roles apply in the varioussituational context in McDonalds. Furthermore, it will analyse different concepts and models ofof leadership and management that provide an understanding of their styles.Along with it, operation management is an essential part of the industry that will beanalyse through various tactics to operation management and the value and importance of OMwill identify. Lastly the study will evaluate various factors that have impact upon operationmanagement & decision-making by leaders and managers.LO 1P1. Defining and Comparing various roles and characteristics of manager and a leaderManagerManager is a respective person who is accountable to plan and accomplish the tasks aswell as team in the industry in order to achieve desired objectives of McDonald. In other words,manager are one who perform basic managerial function and they are a link between stakeholderand organisation (Blomme, Kodden and Beasley-Suffolk, 2015).Role/ Characteristics of MangerPrimary role and responsibility of a manager is to ensure effective and smoothfunctioning of the overall operation in McDonald and to planning, directing and monitoring thework as the characteristic of manager is task-oriented. There are three types of role of a manager;Decisional role, interpersonal role and informational role. A perfect manager have variousmanagerial skills so that he able to lead the employees with honesty and transparency.LeaderA person can be refer to the term leader, who inspire, influence, encourage or motivateworkforce to work effectively and willingly to attain industry's objective (Bosse and et. al.,2017). In simple words, leader is an individual who influence a set of persons to the achievementof the targeted vision.1
