INTRODUCTION
Global leadership and management comprises of a comprehensive hierarchical structure
aimed at enlightening the situations as well as human resources prevailing within the
organisational premises. In today's competitive atmosphere, it becomes imperative for leaders
and managers to gain knowledge of the challenges presented by internal and external forces so as
to take effective decisions for the betterment of company. The present report takes into account
the leadership and management analysis of Brigade Electronics which is a SME operating in
automotive sector and dealing in provision of vehicle safety devices (SEARCH 1000
COMPANIES UK – 2018, 2019). It is headquartered in United Kingdom. The report includes
functional areas, hierarchy of management, importance of communication for leadership and
management, drivers of globalisation along with impact and comparison of two leadership styles.
1. Functional Areas
Brigade Electronics is a small and medium size enterprise which provides devices to
ensure safety in relation to vehicles by providing solutions for all types of mobile plants and
commercial automobiles. This organisation came up with its very first reversing alarm within
Europe. Since then, Brigade Electronics has championed in plant and vehicle safety sub sector of
automotive industry and have pioneered to develop as well as patent new technologies. The
solutions provided by this organisation aims at decreasing the risks associated with collision and
protection of road users through minimisation of blind spots of vehicles and providing assistance
to drivers to operate safely. The product portfolio of this entity includes camera monitor system,
360 degree camera system, digital recorders, obstacle detection sensors, obstacle detection
radars, reversing alarms etc. (Charter, 2017). Within this organisational premises, there are a
number of functional areas that help in timely accomplishment of goals and objectives. These
areas when integrated ensures coordination and cooperation among all the processes and
activities. In this regard, the functional areas of Brigade Electronics are as follows:-
Marketing: This refers to the functional area which possess the responsibility of carrying
out the promotional activities of entity so as to create awareness about the offerings of company
among public. Within Brigade Electronics, it holds the responsibility to design and develop a
two-way communication channel that ease the process through which an interaction can take

place with consumers present in market place. Through this communication, the needs and
demands of people can be anticipated and steps can be taken to relevantly meet them.
R&D: The Research & Development function within Brigade Electronics possess the
responsibility of conducting research upon market for the entity and ensuring optimum product
development by making us safe, innovative and advanced technologies.
Finance: This functional area holds the responsibility to deal with the monetary
transactions and budget in an effective manner (Andersson, Forsgren and Holm, 2015). Within
Brigade Electronics, finance carries out the regulation of monetary flow in and out of the entity
and also allocates the funds for marketing, selling, distribution, Research & Development and
after sale services.
Hierarchy of management
Brigade Electronics is a prominent name within the automotive sector responsible for
rendering safety services for automobiles. Managerial hierarchy is regarded to be a crucial
aspect for every entity. The hierarchy of management within this organisation is classified into
three primary categories, explained as follows:-
Top Management: This hierarchical stage of management consists of top executives and
managers of the organisation. Within Brigade Electronics, it consists of personnel who possess
the power to take important decisions, such as CEO and management.
Middle Management: This is a hierarchical stage of management that constitutes
personnel operating as linking pin between top and lower management. Within Brigade
Electronics, it includes designations such as Regional and General Managers who carry out
management and organisation of business operations within the organisation premises and keep a
regulatory check upon all the units and departments of entity (Shenkar, Luo and Chi, 2014).
Managers functioning at this level makes use of delegation as well as supervision to ensure
timely execution of activities and desirable performance.
Front Line Management: This consists of team leaders, supervisors and office managers
who are in direct contact with lower level management. This level of management makes sure
that work carried out by them is effective and maintains optimum quality.
2, Fundamentalism of communication to leadership and management
Communication refers to a way and method which can be used the management of a
company to transfer and deliver information and message to others. In Brigade Electronics, it can

be used by the management of this company to transfer or share information from one place to
another and among its employees. With the help of string communication the leader and the
manger can properly maintain and manage their staffs and employees by providing information
to them regarding any change, polices and strategies etc. There are two types of communication,
internal and external communication (Mitchelmore and Rowley, 2013). These both type of
communication are necessary to the organisation for the proper running of the business.
Internal communication- It indicates that communication which use by the management
of the company to deliver the information within a company related to the business, its goals,
aims and purposes etc. In Brigade Electronics, the manger and leader use this type of
communication to share information to their employees when they are making change in their
business polices, develop new strategies or techniques and others. This communication is
important because it help in encouraging and influencing the employees. To conduct this type of
communication, they can use telephone, mail, fax, internet connections, computer network an
messages etc.
External communication- This communication refers to the transformation of the data
and information to company to company, company to individual and individual to firm. This
kind of communication make or conduct by the management for business purpose. In Brigade
Electronics, with the help of this communication the management of the company can
communicate and interacted with its customers and clients to finding out their needs and
demands regarding products and services (Trkman, 2013). So that they can provide products and
services according to their demands which provide satisfaction to them. This is also beneficial
for getting feedback to the consumers so that the manger and leader can make important in
products and strategies which can be used in production process.
By using these type of communication, this company can encourage its employees by
providing them information according their requirement. This also beneficial for retaining
employees and maintaining loyalty towards them which help in organisational growth.
3. Current drivers of globalisation and their influence upon business entities (500 words)
Globalisation can be referred to as the procedure through which integration of people,
economies, countries and governments take place with a view to enhance the position of
company in market place. There are a number of factors that act as driving forces to foster the
process of globalisation. Driver can be referred to as a factors that possesses the potential as well

as capability to contributes towards bringing about changes within the entity and consequently
leads to business growth and expansion. In this regard, there are a number of drivers which
facilitate the process of globalisation so as to enable companies to enhance their revenues as well
as its profitability. In this relation, some of the major drivers of globalisation are elaborated as
follows:-
Technological Drivers: These can be said to be those factors which aim at easing and
making the lives of people comfortable by utilising new, latest and innovative technologies and
techniques. This provides assistance to an organisation to carry out the activities and processes in
an effective manner within desired course of time. This aids the enterprise to attain its goals and
objectives by undertaking measures to enhance the productivity level, share in global market and
quality of activities conducted within the organisational premises (Burns and Dewhurst, 2016).
Besides this, it also helps in motivating the workforce in a manner such that the work can get
executed in feasible manner. This tends to have a direct influence upon Brigade Electronics in a
number of ways. Through this, the entity now facilitates easier and faster completion of activities
in the most optimum manner such that productivity, performance, sales and profitability can be
enhanced.
Political Drivers: This can be referred to as the laws and legislations that tend to have a
significant impact upon the operations of business organisation. By way of this, top management
can devise and develop effective business strategies aimed at welfare of organisation by ensuring
that all the activities and processes are performed in a manner stipulated by law and legal bodies
and agencies (Burns and Dewhurst, 2016). This factor drives Brigade Electronics to feasibly
expand its operations at international level.
Market Drivers: Every company want to expand its business at international market for
which they develop variety of strategy as well as policies. Through this company will able to
enhance their customer’s base that helps them in gaining more and more profitability as well as
market shares (Drivers & Hurdles of globalization, 2019). In respect of Brigade Electronics
through market drivers company able to enhance their business at other location at national or
international level. That will directly increase their profit, market shares, customer’s base, brand
image and name and many more.

4. Comparison of two leadership or management styles. Selection of one style suitable for
modern global company
Transactional leadership style: It refers to the type of leader who mainly focuses on
exchanging benefits or communicates with its staffs or subordinates in order to understand them
better. These types of leaders consider that employees can be motivated through rewards and
punishment. In this leadership style employee has to conduct work which they get allotted
because in this role as well as responsibilities of staffs are already assigned. Along with this,
team working in respective leadership style are highly disciplined.
Transformational leadership style: It refers to the leadership style in which leader
considers themselves as social engineers. They generally try to conduct changes and
improvements at society or on an individual. This type of leaders enjoys assessing their followers
and describing them their strengths and weaknesses so that they can improve it. By which they
able to conduct their work properly and effectively. The team of respective leader is not
generally disciplined because they are more focusing on improving quality of employees so that
they can conduct work properly.
It can be advised that Brigade Electronics can adopt transformational leadership style
because through it they able to improve employees strength as well as weakness (Alpar and
Schulz, 2016). That will help them in conducting work properly and effectively in order to attain
their goal as well as objective.
CONCLUSION
From the above mentioned report, it has been concluded a business organisation has
numerous functional areas and each area performs activities which is to be examined
appropriately. The management of the organisation has a suitable hierarchical structure which
are required to be analysed in detail while depicting the various roles and functions of each
individual unit. Apart from this, the globalisation is also an important factor which has a
significant favourable and unfavourable impact on the company. Furthermore, there are various
driver which has a direct impact on operations of the company which also distracts the functions
of the company. For managing all such issues and obstacles the leader uses various leadership
styles and the variations in different styles of leadership.
