INTRODUCTION
Management is defined as the set of principles that is related to the planning , organising,
directing , controlling and coordinating and the application of these principles by the company
for achievement of the organisational goals. It also refers to the art of getting things done
through others and with the people in formally organised groups(Akramovich, and Muratovna,
2019). In order to accomplish the goals and objectives , leadership plays a very important part
as it helps in giving direction to the employees about their responsibilities. It is necessary for the
managers to maintain effective flow of communication as it will helps in interacting and solving
the issues related to the task assigned and also helps in enhancing the leadership skill of the
managers(Gandolfi, and Stone, 2018). The report covers the management and leadership

In any organization , leaders plays a very important role in motivating the employees and

In order to be a successful leader, it is required to have effective leadership skills and knowledge
so that they can effectively convey their ideas and knowledge to the employees. According to the
Mansaray, (2019) having strong and effective skills will help to build better coordination among
the manager and employee which encourage the employees to give their best towards the
achievement of the objectives. On the contrary, Ruben, (2019) believes that if the manager
focus on listening to the view points of the employees and understand it will help in effective
coordination and also helps in creating favourable working environment. As per the Al-Mosawi,
(2019) leadership is the dynamic process that involves interaction among the leaders and workers
in the organisation. They are continuously in order to make improvements and enhancing their

skills and knowledge so that they can effectively give direction to the employees and also
motivate and boosting their morale which will help in improving their performance and also
helps in their personal development. According to Penn, (2019) qualities become a successful
leaders requires continuous effort and improvement which helps in their professional
development and also helps in better coordination among the team members. On the other hand,
the Jia, et.al, (2018) says their the leaders are effectively understanding and coordinating with
the employees it will result into less conflict and in case if it arise, they should have the ability to
manage and listen to both the parties in order to find the root cause and take effective decision
accordingly. According to Medellin, et.al, (2021) the leader can apply various various effective
leadership styles for effectively managing the teams and the employees. As per the Sivarat, et.al,
(2021), various companies uses autocratic leadership style where the decision making power is
vested in the hands of the top management and subordinates are bound comply with those
decisions. It is observed this approach causes dissatisfaction among the employees which can
affect their performance and also productivity of the organization. On the other hand the Tang,
K.N., (2019) states that democratic leadership style is the most effective leadership style that is
used by the leader which involves the view and opinions of the subordinates in the decision-
making process. The manager involve the subordinates and ask their views and suggestions that
helps in contributing in the achievement of the organisational goals.
Management plays a very crucial role in managing the activities of the company with the
help of proper planning, controlling, directing and coordinating the activities of the business for
efficient working and achieving the organisational objectives and goals. According to the
D'Amato,et.al, (2019), it is the responsibility of the manager to efficiently utilise the and allocate
the resources so that it helps in maximising the profit and minimise the extra cost that is incurred
by the company. On the other hand, the Cunha, et.al, (2020) believes that in order to generate
more profit, the management should focus on investing their financial resources in the research
and development that helps in getting more innovative ideas that helps the company to compete
in the market. On the contrary, the Mullakhmetov, et.al, (2021) states that, the management
should continuously evaluate and monitor the changes that are taking place in the business
environment which will hep to analyse the changes that is to be made in the management and
plan strategies accordingly for achieving the objectives of the company effectively. Hitt,et.al,
(2019) states that it requires effective management skill so that the manager can effectively plan

and implement right and effective strategies that helps in achieving the goals and objectives of
the organisation. It is very necessary for the management to encourage and boost the morale of
the employees so that they can improve their performance that help in contributing toward
achieving the organisational goals. According to the Jurczak, (2020), there are various areas of
management that is financial management, Human resource management, marketing,
production , purchasing management etc. In order to increase the productivity and efficiency it is
very important that there should be interrelationship among all the departments of the
organization. With the application of proper theories and practice and also the support and
encouragement from the superiors helps in motivating the employees to put their efforts in
contributing towards achieving the organisational goals of the company. Maletič, et.al, (2020)
states that in order operate the business in effective manner, it is important to evaluate the market
situation and the changes in the factors. This will help the management to analyse the current
position of the company and plan accordingly which requires efficient management.
Role of leadership and management in enhancing organisational competence
Leaders is one which influence the followers by their behaviour and motivate the
employees in accomplishing the task assigned. With the help of effective skill and knowledge,
leaders can understand the issues and problems of the employees and find ways to solve the
problems. According to the Cortellazzo, et.al, (2019), no person has the ability to influence
others but the positive behaviours and work ethics of the leader can encourage the employees to
focus on the task. Employees of the company is influenced by the behaviour of the manager
which can improve their performance. On the other hand, the Nani, and Safitri, (2021) believes
that the manger also uses various the method of rewarding the employees for their hard work
that will motivate the workers to successfully accomplish their task. The Lee, and Kim, (2021)
believes in order to achieve the goals the management uses various leadership style that
encourage the employees to improve their performance such as if the manager sued democratic
leadership style in which the subordinates are also included in the decision-making process
where they give their opinions and suggestions which can help in contributing towards goals of
the company. With the help of this initiative , the employees feels that they are valued by the
company which will reflect on their performance. On the other hand the Wang, et.al, (2021)
believes that in many situation this leadership can prove to be ineffective where quick decisions
are to be taken then receiving the suggestion from the subordinates can result into delay in the

decision -making and affect the company. It depends upon the management of the company to
apply the leadership style by considering all the factors that can affect their productivity.
According to Chen, et.al, (2020.), leaders should have effective skill and knowledge which they
can communicate with the employees and understand their problems and experience which helps
in building the interaction and also helps in solving their problems. For example, the manager of
the Tesco company uses the democratic leadership style, where the subordinates are also
involved while making decision for the company and ask their views and opinions which enable
their contribution in the achievement of the objectives although the final decision-making power
is in the hands of the top management but through this initiatives it helps to enhance the
knowledge areas of the employees and also encourage in performing their task in efficiently.
According to Zhang, et.al, (2020) there are various roles of leaders which helps the
employees to stay motivated and also improve their performance in successfully achieving the
goals and objectives of the company. The leaders play the role of motivator as they put their
continuous efforts in encouraging and supporting the employees to participate in the group
discussion and team projects as it will helps in enhancing their communication skills with their
co-workers. Smith, and Green, (2018) is of the opinions is that the leader also the
representative of the company as they have the responsibility to represent in the seminars ,
conferences and also in the general meeting and also to communicate the rationale of the
enterprise to the public. On the contrary Khan, and Wajidi, (2019) states that the leader acts as
guide by supervising and interacting with the employees about the policies of the to management
which enable the employees to cooperate and contribute in the achievement of the organisational
goals and objectives. The leader is also required to have effective decision making skills and
active listening skills so that they can effectively understand the problems of the subordinates
and support in resolving the issues.
Management is defined as the techniques of enabling the workflow in effective manner
and refers to the process of planning, organising, staffing, directing , controlling and
coordinating the activities of the business. The nature of the management is dynamic as it adopts
the changes that takes place in the environment. According to the Heinicke, and Guenther,
(2020), management helps to maintain the effectiveness for the skills and knowledge and also
ensures less wastage of the resources. It is the responsibility of the manager to continuously
evaluate the business environment and make changes accordingly which enable the company to

achieve its goals effectively. On the contrary,the manager can lead the staff members by
providing the employees direction in the achievement of the goals and objectives of the
organisation. Nassereddine, and Ahmad, (2019) believes that the roles of the leader and
manager is same as the manager has the responsibility to monitor and evaluate the performance
of the employees as it helps the manager to recognize the areas of improvement that is required
in the employees. In order to improve those areas , the management focus on organizing the
training and development programs which help in increasing the area of knowledge and also
helps in personal and professional development of the employees. According to the
Nurmamatovich, (2022) the role of the management is supreme as with the help of efficient
management, the organization can achieve the goals effectively and also avoid the extra cost that
is incurred by the management which can be utilized in other areas where improvement is
required.
It is very important for the company to have strong organizational culture which helps in
building more knowledgeable employees and also helps the company to gain competitive
advantage in the market. In order to achieve this target , the manager and leader plays a very
significant role. If the leader has all the required leadership skill and knowledge then it can be
helpful in creating favourable working environment and also with the support of the leader the
employees can give their best in achieving the objectives of the company. On the other hand the
manager should have the necessary skills such as effective communication skills which helps in
building effective bond with the employees and also motivate and encourage which reflect on
their performance, and they can contribute effectively in achieving the objectives of the
company. For long term substantiality in the competitive market it is necessary that the
management of the company should be effective. On the other hand the managers and leaders
should have effective skills as it helps in motivating the employees and also helps in effectively
achieving the targets of the company. With the application of effective leadership style and

willing to become manager of the British multinational organisation which based in the UK

named as Tesco. Tesco is leading the national as well as international market in effective
manner. In the current period the organization is continuously acquiring the success and
generating higher revenue from the markets. The organization Is growing rapidly due to the
efforts of human resources management and the manager of the organization as the individual
person keep motivating the employees of the organisation. In context to that as I am having
good leadership skill, I target the human resources department as my profession in the future. In
my opinion being manger is the very difficult task for every individual person because a
manger or the leader is responsible for different function and operation of the company.
Basically, the manager or leader play vital role in encouraging and motivating the workers of the
company.
Leadership and management skills required in the human resources manger
The leader is the responsible for the success of the company. The management provides certain
benefits to the workers of the organization in order to increase the employability and encourage
the workers to contribute in the production ( Gandolfi, and Stone, 2018). The management skills
refer to the capability of managing the function of the organization due to which the company
can deal with different challenges and solve the issues of the employees. With the assistance of
the management skills the manager of the company can accomplish the goal and missions and
vision of the organization in effective as well as efficient manner. The leaders and management
play vital role in the function organization it required skills and knowledge in effective as well
as efficient manner.
Team development: In order to manage the people of the organisation the manger require the
team development skills in which the manager of the organization coordinate and cooperate with
the workers in order to bring the productivity and provide comfort to them .
Communicational skills: Along with that the manager of the company should require good
communication skills in order interacting with the employees if the company and deliver
transparency and clarify the policy and procedure of the company in effective manner. Due to
that the manger can develop the understanding among the people working in the firm.
Motivational skills :for managing the large numbers of people and function of the organization
the manger required good motivational skills due to which the individual person can motivate the
workers of the organization. With the motivational skills the manger can provide sanctification
to the workers of the company by delivering rewards, feedbacks, bonuses , comfortability,

flexibility etc. along with that the individual person convince the employees to increase the
employability and performance in context to increase the production of the company.
Problem solving skills: it is the most demanding skills which is required in the manger or the
leader of the firm . These skills are responsible for solving the personal as well as professional
problem of the members working in the firm in order to enhance their performance. With the
help of this skill the manager of the company can detect the issue and deliver the quick solution.
This skill plays major role in solving the conflict among the workers as well as contribute in the
process of decision making for the welfare of the company ( Hansen, and Pihl-Thingvad, 2019.).

Human or interpersonal skills: it is another skill due to which the manger interact with the
employees of the organisation. Basically, it is the most effective technique the manger should
have in order to involve the workers of the organization in the process of decision making. Due
to this skill the individual person can deliver the transparency and able to build trust among the
peoples. Due to this skill the responsible person increases the potential and capability of the
worker to perform the task with all the efforts of the individual person. Moreover, the manager
can provide the guidance to the workers for performing the job role and responsibility in
adequate manner.
Decision- making skills: for the welfare for the organization, it is important to have the
decision-making power because the manager of the company is responsible for making essential
decision on the behalf of the company. The decision-making skill help in representing the
organization in the domestic as well as international marketplace . Along with those effective
decisions of the company encourage the workers and attract the potential customers. Due to the
decision-making skill the manager of the organization brings the creativity and innovation in the
organization ( Al-Malki, and Juan, 2018.)
Time management skills: it is the most productive approach which contribute in the process of
planning, organizing, managing, staffing, and operating the function of the company. The time
management is the plans of action that allow the workers to meet the goal of the company in
efficient time that will satisfy the customers. Along with that this skill help the manger in
meeting the requirement of the employees on time.

Assessment of leadership style
I attend the lectures in order to enhance and improve my skills and knowledge in effective as
well as efficient manner. During the lecture when the teacher is providing information to the
presented student in order to enhance their performance and help in developing the best career
path the teacher discuss various leadership style. The leadership style I can consider in the future
for improving and leading the members of the organization ( Adnan,. and Valliappan,, 2019).
During the lecture I determined that I am having the laissez-faire or degradative leadership style
as I easily trust on the people and believe in empowering the members of the organization as
they also contribute in the production of the company in effective as well as efficient manner. In
order to treat the employees of the organisation it is important to treat them as the assets of the
organisation rather them treating as the liability of the organization. In my opinion it is the most
convenient way to encourage the employees of the organization as this leadership style worked
as the rewards and promotion of the employees. Basically, I observed in the lectures that the with
the help of this style the leader give strength and meaningful job satisfaction to the employees of
the organisation. Along with that I am having the transformational style of leadership which is
discussed in the lecture. I personally believe in this leadership style because the taste and
preferences of the human is continuously changing so it is important to bring changes in the
workers too. I am capable enough to deliver feedback to the other people as I am good at
observing the people and believe in continuous improvement. Through the lecture I come to
know that with the help of this leadership style the individual person can bult the positive
culture in the organisation which encourage the people to increase the productivity and
profitability of the organisation. Due to that the teacher deliver information that the leader used
this style for bringing the creativity in the organisation ( Wen, et.al 2019.).
For the profession like human resources manger the communication and motivational skills id
vary important for leading the employees of the organisation in effective as well as efficient
manner. after the lecture and the personal observation, I concluded that I am having good
leadership skills which includes communication and motivational skills. due to communication
skills, I can perform better in the career and enhance the productivity. along with that I observe
that I am also having the problem-solving skills though which I can provide the better solution to
the employees of the organisation and help the workers to perform better in their personal as well
as professional life. For the better future opportunity, I should consider my strength as

competitive advantages due to that I can acquire the continuous success in the marketplace.
along with that I am having good logical skills which I can used in the problem solving. Apart
from that I need to focus on these skills for surviving in the profession for the long period of
time. With the strength it is also important to determine the weakness in order to deal with the
challenges and my biggest weakness is that I am not good at numerical term. Along with I need
to focuses on the numeracy in order to evaluate the performance of the employees and the profit
is generated by the company. it is important to have the good numeracy skills which is worst part
for me because I am bad in the maths which I determine after observing the previous record of
