Introduction
One of the biggest events to be conducted in the entire world is the major sport event like
FIFA World Cup. The event is held every 4 years and the entire management of the event
happens at a grand scale. Therefore it is very necessary that the event be held in the most
appropriate way to propagate the events in the program be held feasibly and effortlessly (Stark,
2015). The following report would thus be focused on the lean management of the event of FIFA
World Cup that is to be held in the year 2022 in Qatar. The report would focus on the appropriate
usage of the components and processes for the usage of them to manage the stakeholders of the
event effectively. This would be conducted through the various implementation of Lean Project
Management and the usage of different theories from PMBOK, PRINCE 2, OPM, Agile
methodology and Lean Six Sigma. The above mentioned methodologies would be used to make
sure that the FIFA World Cup 2022 lives up to its reputation as well as use effectively maintain
the utility of various components of the event management to make the project a huge success.
2. Usage of processes for effective stakeholder management
There are various stakeholders associated with such a huge event like the FIFA World
Cup 2022, both internally and externally associated with the project, who would be directly or
indirectly be affected by the outcome of the entire event. This part of the report would conduct
the identification of the stakeholders along with their roles and responsibilities to make sure that
the entire event is managed effectively. It would be easier to maintain the feasibility of the entire
project when the external and internal stakeholders are identified (Rivera & Kashiwagi, 2016).
The roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders depend upon the interests they have within the
project as well as the share of involvement they have within the project. The stakeholders would
also include the spectators who would come from various parts of the world to witness the event
as they would be at the receiving end of the entire project outcome and directly affected by the
outcome as well. In addition to that, the participants, the non-participant staff, the nations who
would be at the non-participating end, the team members of each nation and the people in
responsibility of the team members (Sunder, 2016). Along with them, the people in responsibility
of arranging the event, the financers and the sponsors are also included as the stakeholders of the
entire event.

The stakeholder management of the entire event would depend upon the methodology
developed to identify the stakeholders of the entire event, analyse the stakeholders to find out if
there has been any next steps to make sure the stakeholders are performing their duties well. The
next step of the stakeholder management involves the prioritising the stakeholders according to
their needs from the entire event and finally they can be engaged with their particular
involvement with the event (Badiru & Osisanya, 2016). Since, FIFA World Cup 2022 is a huge
event having an international approach, it is essential that the stakeholders are managed as the
above mentioned technique as well as they should be made aware about their roles and
responsibilities through effective communication. The process of effective communication is
also necessary throughout the entire event to understand the progression of the event and the
ways by which each of the stakeholders are engaged within the event (Orzen & Bell, 2016). The
event should also be arranged and managed in such a way that feedback from the stakeholders
are taken to identify the issues they have with the event progression so that proper measures can
be taken to make the stakeholders be engaged in their respective roles and responsibilities.

are various possibilities that there would be
obstacles to be witnessed after the project is
commenced, but there are ways by which they
can be avoided as per the methodologies
explained in PMBOK for effective stakeholder
management. There could be other risks of
time constraints and availability of resources
cropping up during the project progression;
however, the proposed methodologies have the
ability to assess the availability of the
resources to find out the effective work done
and the process is handled with effective
management procedures based on the resource
analysis (Svejvig & Grex, 2016). All this
would be feasible enough to put through with
the implementation of effective communication
procedures and standards set through the entire
event amongst the stakeholders of the event.

2.2 Correct identification of critical stakeholders
The approach of the FIFA World Cup 2022 is global since the event involves the
participation of various teams from all across the world (Sohi et al., 2016). The Event is going to
take place in the beautiful country of Qatar and similar to all the other editions of this global
event, it would be a constituency of stakeholders all over the world like the teams participating in
the event. The range of the stakeholders is wide and thus it is necessary that the stakeholders are

2.3 Engagement of stakeholders
According to the methodologies described in various project management methodology

3. Areas to implement lean project management
After successful identification and implementation of the critical stakeholders throughout
the entire progression of the project, it is necessary that focus should be generated towards
implementing the best practises to make sure that the stakeholders are assessing the roles and
responsibilities assigned to them in the proper way (Brioso, Aguilar & Calderón-Hernandez,
2019). The application of the Lean Project Management in this case of the event of FIFA World
Cup 2020 for effective implementation of the Project management team can be followed in the
process as below:
Focus to the customers: The primary customers for the event of FIFA World CUP 2020
would be the spectators who would be watching the game in person at the venue as well as the

4.2 Organizational Project Management (OPM)
OPM or Organizational Project Management should be utilized carefully within the FIFA
World Cup 2022 event management project to successfully handle different units within the
sporting event (Browning & Ramasesh, 2015). This global sports event has different categories
of portfolios which can be managed by using this project management methodology which are
created and implemented in the project can be evaluated with the help of this project
management methodology. Along with that Alignment of the goals of this project according to
international standard is possible with the help of this project management methodology.
4.3 Agile Practice
This includes the project management methodologies implemented for the FIFA World
Cup 2022 that includes the training of all the stakeholders who are associated with the project

teams of every nation.
