Health and Safety Legislation or Regulation
These are the regulation that are followed in the workplace. These laws abide the
employers to follow certain rules under which the employees of the organisations are provided
with the safe environment for working (Salguero-Caparrós and et.al, 2020). These laws put the
employers responsible for the use of inappropriate equipment’s and causing any incidents that
can cause harm to the employee. The laws cover:
The regulations demand for proper ventilation system at the organizations.
Ensuring the maintenance of the equipment’s.
Proper lightening at the work places.
Providing employees with the facilities like restrooms, changing rooms as well as
meals.
RIDDOR (The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulation 2013)
Purpose
Under this law the employers of the NHS are required to keep reports and records of the
accidents related to work and serious injuries or deaths.
Importance
It is used to keep the employees and the employer’s safe at the welding and machine
shops.
It holds the employers of the shop or the organization responsible for neglecting the bad
working behaviors at the work place.
The records kept under RIDDOR help the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) of UK
government to understand the rising problems and risks that help them to prevent such
accidents and incidents from happening (Agius, 2020).
Requirements of reports
The deaths in the workplace excluding the suicides.
The injuries that cause the employee at the shop to take break for seven days and cannot
complete their normal duties.
The incidents where the people outside the shop get injured and reported to hospital. The
report need not to mention the people who went to hospital as a precaution and are not
injured.
Specific injuries, incidents of gas, dangerous occurrences as well as occupational diseases
are reported.
Responsibilities
Employees
The employees at that NHS can share the experience of witnessing the incident to the
senior employers at the NHS, the employees are not allowed to report the incidents by
themselves. In case where the employees want to take the case further they need to fill
another form of HSE.
Employers or managers
The employers are responsible for reporting the records correctly about the incidents. The
employers need to fill the HSE form and log details of the NHS records like the accident
