organizations, it can be observed that they plan the strategies that would enhance the wealth
of the shareholders or the owners along with which it may have profit orientation (Bryce,
2017). However, a detail literature review on the Strategic managements of the non-profit
organizations will be done in this assignment.

At the very beginning of conducting a literature review the research scope has been
identified and as far as this assignment the specific research question has been find out which
is the ‘Strategic management in non-profit organizations, e.g. charities and NGOs’. The

to their donors instead of treating donors equally. The underlying assumption of this strategy
is that different and preferential treatment of donors according to their donation amount
positively affects fundraisingperformance. We conducted a propensity score matching study
to analyze the fundraising strategies of seventy-three cultural organizations in Germany. The
empirical findings are discussed and complemented by qualitative data from twenty
interviews with fundraisingmanagers and private donors. The results show that, in terms of
fundraising performance, nonprofit organizations that apply a donor priority strategy
outperform organizations that treat donors equally. A donor priority strategy ultimately leads
to a 125 euro higher total revenue per donor and an 87 euro higher profit per donor due to
cost savings via better use of fundraising resources.

nonprofit hospitals, yet fundraising can sometimes be one of the more troublesome aspects of
management for nonprofit organizations. This study utilizes an organizational effectiveness
and performance framework to identify groups of nonprofit organizations as a method of
classifying organizations for performance evaluation and benchmarking that may be more
informative than commonly used characteristics such as organizational age and size. Cluster
analysis, ANOVA and chisquare analysis are used to study 401 organizations, which includes
hospital foundations as well as nonprofit hospitals directly engaged in fundraising. Three
distinct clusters of organizations are identified based on performance measures of
productivity, efficiency, and complexity. A general profile is developed for each cluster

their needs. Most importantly, neoliberalism dampens the sector’s motivation to challenge the

their impact on performance. To bridge this gap, we conduct an exploratory multiple case
study in ten health and social services NPOs. The case study data indicates a shift toward a
dominant strategic orientation in the configuration of HRM. Our article makes a central
contribution by uncovering a third way in which NPOs seek a specific configuration of HRM
to confront the challenges they face in their internal and external environments.
