Determination of concept and scope of Consumer Rights Act,2015
The Consumer Right Act states that all products and services provided to consumers
should be of good and high quality. This Act helps in consolidating the existing consumer
protection law legislation and provides several rights and remedies to consumers. This Act was
introduced to the Parliament by Jo Swinson MP on 23rd January 2014. The various legislations
which are included in this Consumer Act are Unfair Terms in Contracts Regulations 1999,
Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, Sale of Good Act 1979 and Supply of Goods and Services Act
1982. The concept of The Consumer's Protection Act is that it will help the consumers to get
good products and services. This will help the companies to take care of consumers rights and
protection in purchasing any product. Basically the Consumers Protection Act consists of various
definitions for a consumer. According to this act, a consumer is a person who has a purpose for
individual trade, craft, business or profession. This Act states that goods should be able to
provide satisfaction to customers, they must be fit to the purpose of consumer and defective
goods should not be given to people1. Such products must be given back to the retailer within 30
days. The digital content which includes software, videos and goods related to software should
not harm system of any individual or customer. If there is any case when the system is damaged
or broken it is the right of consumer to get it replaced or repaired. The services offered to
consumers must be given with care and skill. The Consumer Protection Act is an important Act
that helps individuals to protect them against any harmful or threatening service or product. The
concept of this Act is simple i.e. to provide effective services and products to people so that there
is minimum case of customer dissatisfaction and different companies are able to sell their
products to customers in a proper manner. The scope of this Act is that this helps it will help in
overall effectiveness of the market including consumers as well as retailers, suppliers and
manufacturers. If consumers are not happy with any service or product they have the right to take
action against the retailer or shopkeeper and ask him to provide refund or replace the product.
This Act is abide by the Government of all countries for maintaining harmony at marketplace.

A customer expectation is defined as the perceived benefits or value which a customer
seek while buying a product or experiencing ant service. These are defied as the result of
learning process and this is an important factor for any industry to know what are the actual
