INTRODUCTION
Operations and management is one of the most important part for each and every firm that is
operating in the market irrespective of the industry in which it is working as it helps the
companies to achieve its goals and objectives in an effective and efficient manner and that too
within a limited period of time (Barelli, Bidini and Ottaviano, 2016). Uber Technologies is a
company that is working in the industry since a pretty long time and thus has captured a
considerable amount of share in the market too and is spread in almost each and every part of the
world. In this report there is a detailed discussion about the various aspects of both a leader as
well as a manger, their role and functions, its impact on the working of the firm and its
environment. Apart from this the report also covers a comparison between the two and their roles
and characteristics. Further approaches, theories, decision making concept and other important
factors are also analysed and evaluated in detail in this report.

Both a leader as well as a manager carries a lot of importance for every firm as they are
treated as backbone of the companies without which business cannot run in an effective and
efficient manner. All of the above aspects are discussed below in a detailed manner-
Leader- A leader s a person that leads a group of people or an organisation so that it can
achieve its goals and objectives in a precise manner. They are very far sighted personnel’s that
carry the potential to increase and improve the profitability as well as growth of the firm by
making employees follow their guidelines and thus improving overall working of the company.
A leader has the capability to judge everyone’s potential and then work accordingly so that
employee can work with maximum of its capability. Uber Technologies is a firm that stands well
ahead of all of its competitors as it possess a team of expert leaders that proves beneficial for the
company in the long run.
Manager- Manager is a person that analyses and evaluates each and every aspect of the
firm in detail and then takes decisions that are in favour of that company. They are highly
educated and skilled workers that put all their skills so as to improve the conditions of the
company so that it can sustain in the competitive market condition for a longer period of time as

compared to its competitors that are prevailing in the similar industry. Uber Technologies have
identified this aspect in its early days and thus it recruits highly knowledgeable personnel’s in its
business so that it can add to the profitability and growth of the firm and that too in the long run
aspect (Gan and Zheng, 2019).
Both manger and leader possess various characteristics as well as there are many roles
that they have to play and all of them are elaborated briefly below-
Leader Manager
A leader has many characteristics that
include foresightedness, leading
qualities, motivation, etc. that helps
them to do all the things that other
person’s can’t do because of their
limitations. Uber Technologies keep a
eye on this aspect that their leaders are
performing as per set standards or not
and thus it helped the company a lot in
the current market that is highly
competitive in nature.
All the leaders have to play an important role
so that the business can accomplish the desired
objectives and goals that are set at the starting.
Uber Technologies have a experienced and
skilled team of leaders that is very beneficial as
it helps the firm to adapt to the changing
environment of the business (Hernández-
Callejo, 2019).
Managers are persons that are highly
skilled and possess a lot of
characteristics like good
communication, self assurance,
management skills, etc. and help the
firm to manage and take appropriate
decisions about various aspects that are
important in nature. Uber Technologies
is a firm that has a wing of mangers
that are highly qualified and helps to
add to the value of the firm in the long
run.
There are various roles also that
manager’s play that is to take necessary
decisions that are beneficial for the firm
to improve its value in the market. Uber
Technologies have a team of expert
managers that helps it to compete in the
market without facing much challenges
from its competitors.
