INTRODUCTION
Operation management is an important criterion in company and this is something which
helps company to have a better manufacturing of products and services in right context as well.
In this competitive world it is required to provide the quality product and service to customers as
they are very much rationale in nature and they need better goods for the amount they are paying.
Although operation manager is that person who manages all the requirement of production
department as all such scenarios is related to that only (White, 2016). Bringing quality with
innovation and creativity can make them to attract lots of customer and they can attain their goals
and objectives as well. Assignment will include roles and features of managers and leaders in
different situation context and how operation management helps in attaining the goals and
objectives of company in better manner as well. Apart from all such which factors affect the
working of company.

P1. Roles and characteristics of leaders and managers
MANAGERS
Manager is said to be the person who manages all the activities that are being done by a
firm in order to make profit. Along with this, he/she also administers groups of employees in
order to hit desired targets of firm. They are those who bring various policy and procedure in
company so that effective work can be done and responsible for every working in organization as
well. Managers are also has responsibility to divide the task according to their department and
specific skills to complete the work on time (Lindström and et. al., 2012). Managers do have
various roles and features in organization when they perform their duty.
LEADERS
An individual who holds a position which is superior in nature in a field where, main
motive is to influence or control the employees so that they become more productive at
workplace. Along with this, they also forms vision and mission of the firm. They are those who
are part of managers and work under them and have roles and responsibility to bring out better
working from the employees so that company can attain their goal and objective too.

Although they work together as both have many responsibility in an organization and thus
they are master in their own work in company and direct the whole team to work with
motivation and having right direction of work in firm always help them to increase
performance and productivity too with earning higher profits as well.
Case study: - “Why great doers don't make great leaders”
According to such the great leaders are not born they are made and thus Wiseman- got
irritated with his team as they are not working in proper manner and thus it was required by him
to look forward and needed to take some steps further for such and some of those characteristics
are as follows:
Listen more than talk: Being as a leader it is must for the person to listen more in place
of directing or giving suggestions to subordinates. Along with this, it is also mandatory for a
good leader to ask questions instead of giving ideas to them. Questions should be asked by leader
in order to resolve problems that are important for them to resolve so that better results can be
gained. Leaders are such which has a feature of listening more than the talk criteria and thus they
have to perform in better manner and leaders are great leaders when they listen more of saying as
well.
Define the problems and get out of the way: Being as a manager in an organization it is
necessar for the person to resolve all the issue that are being faced by the team. Staff members
mostly have issues with management therefore, it is must for managing person to tell
subordinates that work in proper manner without including him/her in any particular task so that
productivity cannot get hamper.
Put people on charge: Great leaders are such which can make their employee to take
charge in better manner and such thing helps in reducing the conflict situation in organization.

come to know how much work has been done and how much is left. This also help to have a

Moderate situation: This is such situation which is having a stable thing in market and
such thing make them to have a great working in organization and even thus company looks
forward for working according to the situation of market as well. In such situation the manager
and leader both motivate and influence their employees to work in right direction and although
even organizations do work according to needs and wants of customers so that firm can make
them happy in better manner too. Moderate is stable situation which is very low and working
satisfactory in market so that they can earn higher profit and bringing various strategy and
decision which will help them to increase their performance and working condition as well. Firm
try hard to bring their company from moderate situation to fast changing situation as well.
Fast changing situation: This is such situations in which preference and needs of
customers do change with the time as well which make them to work hard and produce the
product and services according to the needs and wants of customers as well. In such situation the
market changes with the time and changes in high speed and although changes in technology is
also affecting them in various ways and it is required to change the working condition according
to time so that company can cope up with technology and demand of customer as well. Working
with such situation company can earn higher profit; therefore they can also achieve their goals

hit targets for a longer period of time. Therefore, it is essential for leaders to locate the areas in
which they can do better and make alterations so that more benefits can be earned.

Planning: It is being done by managers to have a proper working in organization and
