Task 1 P1- Define and compare the different roles and characteristics of a leader and a manager In order to have the comparison between the Manager and the Leader, this is important to understand the who is a Manager and leader. So the definition of the Manager and the Leader is as followed Manager- Manager is the person who helps the management to analyze the situation and then set up the objectives accordingly by which the managerial activities take place in the TESCO. Leader-Leader is the person who helps the management to implement the practice effectively with the help of the getting the respective teams involved in the management to achieve the objective effectively (Krajewski, et. al., 2013). management in order to run the system and maintain the structural values of management. This is not necessary that every leader would be a good leader as the manager needs to work on different aspects and if the manager is able to do this effectively still he or she would be a manager. But in order to be a manager, this is important to be a good manager because this is the most important aspects which are to be followed in themanagementproperlythenonlyan individual can be a good leader (Schönsleben, 2016). 5
M1- Analyze and differentiate between the role of a leader and function of a manager by effectively applying a range of theories and concepts Manager and the leader both are important for the TESCO in order to make the work done effectively in the management because there are different condition and the scenario in TESCO which comes wherein it is not clear which situation will come at what time so in order to control and manage such situation which is uncertain proper managerial activities must be followed in the management. This is something which is possible with the help of the proper coordination in the management which can get implemented by the coordination of the leader and the manager because the manager plans to manage things and the leaders help to implement the plan by making the work done with their respective teams (Binz, et. al., 2013) 6
Task 2 P2- Examine examples of how the role of a leader and the function of a manager apply in different situational contexts Roles and FunctionsManagerLeader Helps to increase the productivity Themanageranalyzesthe situations and makes policies and set the objectives so that everyone would beware of his or her job and responsibility.Thishelpsto increasetheproductivityofthe management. At the same time, the leaders help themanagementtomakethe work done which is important so thatproperguidancetothe employee so that employee can workeffectivelyinthe management and by that means productivity get increased. Handling hurdlesThere are different issue comes in while practicing the business values in the TESCO. These hurdles are handledbythemanagerby analyzingthesituationand providing the appropriate solution to the problem. The leader also helps to resolve theissuesinthemanagement becausetheyarethedirect connection with the team or the employeeworkingforthe TESCOandthatisthereason theyarethemostappropriate source to know the depth of the situation many times. MonitorManager helps the management to monitor the different situation by which means proper control to the managementtakesplacein TESCO. 2013). P3- Apply different theories and models of approach, including situational leadership, systems leadership and contingency (Source: Situation, 2017). This leadership was introduced by Dr. Paul in 1960. This theory talks about different kinds of the leader and manager in the management. That is something which is depended on the situation to situation and according to the behavior of an individual. Like a salesman in TESCO is his or her leader while performing the job and same as with others. Every individual works or completes 8
the objective of TESCO according to his or her way of working. This is something which is impacted by the individual way of working or taking thing or situation accordingly. Basically, the idea here explains that every individual manages himself and herself accordingly based on situation to situation (Binz, et. al., 2012). Scientific managementtheory- This theory is also known as Taylorism as Mr. Fredric Taylor was the founder of this theory. Scientific management theory is a management based theory in whichitbelievesinincreasingtheeconomicefficiencyoftheTESCOsothatproper development of the TESCO can take place effectively in the management. This theory also believes in improving the productivity of the employees, especially the labor of TESCO (Pohl, 2014). (Source: ToolsHero, 2017). Behavioral theories- This theory believes in the focusing on the study which includes the behavior of leader in which all the aspects related to the behavior are monitored and analyzed by that means the potential of a leader gets clear and this is how the capacity of a leader can be utilized. 9
M2- Assess and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to situations within the work environment The difference equations in which husband needs to be attentive and needs to analyze the whole situation in which the resolution of the problem comes into the picture. The most effective aspect of these practices as a strength is that it gives the effective move to the TESCO in both of the ways like it provides the solution of the problem as well and at the same time the employee of the TESCO is also satisfied and this is how the effective move takes place in the TESCO. But at the same time such practices are too time-consuming because there are other aspects also which is to be controlled and managed by the management team and the leaders so if the conflict should be there are issues would be there the environment will get hampered because of such problems and issues however the situation would be resolved but still that reflect on that issues and complex would be there for some time in the TESCO and that is something which is bad for the TESCO culture (Davidson, 2013). 10

D1- Critically analyzes and evaluates the different theories and approaches to leadership in given contexts All the theories of the management give the positive impact of the business in which it becomes easy to understand what can be the appropriate solution to the problem which is important to be analyzed in the management. This is something which can lead the management to the best of the practices by which means the productivity of the TESCO will get increased. This is because all the theories are providing some values to the management which can be utilized to manage certain thing in the TESCO like understanding the different individual behavior and analyzing the potential (Stagni, et. al., 2012). Like example, situational leadership theory helps to understand the potential of an individual but at the same time, this is not necessary that the potential of the employee is enough to achieve the objective of the company. In Scientific management, theory production is improved which allow having successful economical values in the management but at the same time, other aspects are ignored which is bad for an organization. Behavioral Theory also makes it clear that what sort of approach is there of an individual which helps to understand the cultural values of the organization but at the same time this is not necessary that the prediction is correct situation might be different. 11
Task 3 P4- Explain the key approaches to operations management and the role that leaders and managers play Managing the resources- Different resources which are required to be included in order to make the work done in order to achieve the objectives effectively these resources are to be managed accordingly and that is something which is been done by leaders and the managers of TESCO. Taking financial decision- The different situation in which the point is to be raised or other activities in which Finance is required. So this is important to analyze the requirement of that situation whether it is important or not according to the importance of that situation financial decisions are made. But before that this is important to understand the criticality of the situation and that is something can be done with the help of the coordination of the leader and the manager. Setting Up goals-one main objective of the TESCO is to be achieved and in order to achieve that there are different objective set. This is something which can be called as some objectives in order to achieve the main objectives and these objectives are divided into a different individual. So the manager takes the initiative in order to set the objectives for different individual and the leader helps to achieve those objectives actively. Maintaining communication- The proper communication process is being followed in the management with the help of the manager and the leaders. Leaders help to understand the management that what sort of issues are there and what sort of challenges are being faced by the team or different individuals and this is how the management comes to know about all these issues and that is something which is being done with the help of effective communication process which helps to maintain the coordination in the TESCO (Weitz, et. al., 2012). 12
P5- Explain the importance and value of operations management in achieving business objectives Operation management works to improve the working capacity of a different individual by which means the productivity gets increased. ProperengagementofthedifferentindividualismanagementbytheOperation Managementandthisishelpfultomaintainthepropercoordinationwithother departments. Operation management helps to generate the revenue for the TESCO and that is something which is important too. This becomes possible with the help of increasing the quality of the product with the cost-effective strategy. Operation management helps to provide the demand value to the management and with the help of this TESCO make decisions that in future how much production is to be done. Operation management also helps to inform about the challenges in production so that cost-effective strategy can be made Operation management also helps to inform about the challenges in production so that cost-effective strategy can be made (Prahlad, et. al., 2012). 13

M3-Evaluatehowleadersandmanagerscanimproveefficienciesofoperational management to successfully meet business objectives In every TESCO they are different aspects which are to be implemented effectively and that is something which is possible with the help of proper planning and management. There is also possible once this planning is being implemented successfully. Show the leaders and the managers are the key for the TESCO that helps to manage all these aspects and without them, this is very tough to implement such practices into the TESCO. Managers make Strategies and plans and with the help of these Strategies and plans objectives are set then the leaders make work done with the help of their respective teams and this is how the efficiency of workers get increase because everything becomes effective and clear to handle as everyone is aware of his or her job responsibilities (Hosseini, et. al., 2012). 14
Task 4 P6- Assess the factors within the business environment that impact upon operational management and decision-making by leaders and managers There are different factors within the TESCO which affects the decision making and the operation management and these factors are as follows: Strength of the employee- The most important factor because the employee is the important asset of the TESCO and all the task and objectives have to be achieved with the help of employees of the TESCO all day so the strength of the employee helps to make thedecisionandimpactsthemanagerialactivityoftheTESCOandoperation management. Strategic risk-If any strategy is being made according to the market it is to be done which means that what market needs and what is the Desire of the customer that is all key aspects are included while making the strategy but as the market behavior keeps on changing there is always a risk implementing the strategy so the risk behind the strategy also affects the operation manager left activities and decision making by leaders and managers. Employee risk- As discussed that the employees are the Asset of the TESCO taking tough decisions against them can lead the marginal Activity the loss so that is also something which affects the decision making and the Magic activities in management operation. Experience- Princess another factor which affects the decision making process in the TESCO because if a proper experience is there for any situation decision would be strong otherwise that may lead the TESCO to somewhere else which cannot be effective (Peng and Lai, 2012). 15
Technology- Technology is especially affecting the operational management or the managerial activity in operations because the technology keeps on increasing and it is important to implement all the necessary Technology in the TESCO so that TESCO can meet the business needs and this is how the decision making is also affected by the leaders and managers. (Source: Pngall, 2016). Cultural environment- Cultural environment is also important to be effective because this is something which can affect the activities and the other actions which are being taken by the Management and TESCO like decision making of strategy designing. TESCO is caring ineffective and cooperative TESCO culture and the work could be effective and cooperative as well. (Source: KAEFER, 2016). 16

M4- Analyze how these different factors affect the business environment and wider community Such aspects discussed above important to be implemented in the management effectively and this is important to make sure that these all aspects are updated and analyzed time to time because this is important to understand that what is the need of the market and what is the need of a business these two aspects helps to manage all the activities of the TESCO accordingly and this is how the business take space effectively in the market. The factors above helps to understand that whether the activities which are being followed in the TESCO is effective or not and in case if it is not what sort of action needs to be taken. Such practices help to make the effective business environment and wider community which helps to enhance the business values in the market (Brogi, et. al., 2015). 17
D2- Critically evaluates application of operations management and factors that impact on the wider business environment The positive aspects of such values are that these values help to understand what sort of action needs to be taken according to the situation. This also helps to pay the TESCO to make effective move like for example if the employee is not satisfied because of any reason or any other issues is there in TESCO, the management takes the initiative to resolve the issue with the help of managers and the leaders and once the issue is resolved TESCO moves to achieve the objectives of TESCO which is possible with the help of proper satisfactory resolution of the problem. So in one resolution, two aspects come into the picture like management gets the effective move to achieve the objectives and also gets satisfactory of the employee. At the same time there are some negative approach as well like for example the technology which is kept on increasing and this is very expensive for the TESCO to implement the technology day by day or time to time because the technology is not going sustain it is keep on increasing and it is to be implemented and the operational activities and the managerial activities. 18
Conclusion The report concludes with the facts which explain the value of the leader and the manager in the TESCO. There are different aspects which are important to be implemented in the TESCO which explains the factors that how important the coordination is there to be implemented in the management and that is something which is been possible with the help of the proper efforts of managers and the leaders by which the employees get to know that what sort of actions are to be taken what sort of objects of their of the TESCO and how these practices is to be followed in the management. The whole procedure of TESCO is being for that with the help of the effective efforts of managerial activity just being controlled by managers and leaders. Such condition is to be implemented to effectively in which all the employees of the companies are valued so that work can be done with the proper cooperation of all the employees. 19
