INTRODUCTION
Management is the coordination and organisation in the activities of business. Management and
leadership both plays important role in the successful organization (Beck, 2022). This report
discusses about the roles of management and leadership. This report also states about the
leadership practice and leadership style of the leaders, i.e Elon Musk and Steve Jobs and the
comparison between them.

Role of Management and Leadership
Management
It is the concept of planning and arranging or maintaining the organisational performance in the
most effective and efficient manner (Gurr, Longmuir and Reed, 2020). It is basically the
coordination of business activities. The persons who have a power to control the business or the
company is known as manager. Following are the roles of management-
Role of management
Planning - This is the most important function of management. Planning works as the
foundation of the business. Everything require planning. It is the primary duty of manager
to create a plan. This includes setting the goals, decision making process, direction
process, and it also decreases the chances of risk as well as delegating of responsibilities
and allocating resources.
Controlling – It simply helps in controlling the company's performance. Managers
guides their subordinates to achieve the organizational goals and monitor their
performance. It is basically the control over the organization. This is the process in which
the managers instruct their subordinated to achieve the predetermined goals of the
company. Controlling is the key of the successful management process.
Directing - Directing is the process that directly influence, guide, supervise and motivate
the staff members of the organization for the accomplishment of the organizational goals.
With the help of this role, manager leads subordinates in organization.
