INTRODUCTION
Management is termed as collection of different activities that are performed in
organisation to achieve targeted goal as planned by organisation. For managing different
activities a manager has to play active role in controlling activities in organisation in efficient
way. A manager has to make sure that he adopt a potent management style that is required in
controlling activities in organisation. This report is based on hotel ''The Milestone Hotel and
Residences ''. It is as five star hotel located in Kensington Court, Kensington, London, UK. The
place is located in posh location in UK established in 1884. So having long historical background
the manager have to make efficient planning in leading the workforce (Beck, Demirgüç-
Kuntand and Levine, 2010). In this report several motivational theories are discussed for better
implementation of their theory in business structure.
TASK 1
1.1 Comparison between different management style
Management is an important factor that that is to be considered very seriously as it help
in managing different managing different activities of a business. Managing business activity is
essential for different types of organisation of any size. Proper management leads to formulation
of strategies and execution of planning in effectual way. For better management a manager must
concentrate on several activities inside organisation that includes human resource, financial
activities, marketing and promotions etc (Ogunlana, 2010). An effective manager is an assert for
a company as he will be able to carve out more output by utilisation of minimal resource.'' The
Bently Hotel London'' is the biggest competitor of 'The Milestone Hotel and Residences ' in
Kensington area. Both the company have different management style for execution their
business activities in competitive business market. Compression between their style of
leadership are given below.

1.2 Characteristics of leader
Leadership is a important factor for managing business activities of organisation. The
person leading the workforce ensure that all the employees are goal oriented and working in uni
direction way to achieve business objectives. A leader must have objectives and principles in his
own behaviour also so that he can transfer positive environment in organisational culture of
organisation (Bianchi and et al, 2011). 'The Milestone Hotel and Residences ' is having 44 guest
rooms, 6 strays and 12 suites hotel have number of people in managing their business activities.
For managing employees a leader must posses several skills and abilities. Some of them are as
follows -
Creativity Skills A leading person must have creative thinking in his management
activities. Infusing innovative ideas in business activities will allow organisation to
introduce creativity in their business practice. This will aid them to have competitive
advantage. 'The Milestone Hotel and Residences' is doing in renowned area so creativity
I business activity will help hotel to fetch more customer in business activities.
Flexibility - Leader must be multitasking in nature, he can be able control different
activities that are performed inside an organisation. A active leader is an assert to hotel as
he can do proper analysis and take quick response to market change to earn more profit.
Leadership style performed in 'The Milestone Hotel and Residences '
Action oriented leadership – The leader is responsible of different kid of activities that
are performed in hotel. From workforce management to maintain different activities the
final decision lies with leader only (Nandiyanto and Okuyama, 2011).
Laissez-faire- In this style of leadership employees are given freedom to express their
thoughts and perform their activities according to their own way. This helps in generation
of ideas and creative thoughts. Giving more freedom to employees lead to generation of
more faith of employees towards the organisation.

Leadership style in ' The Bently Hotel London''.
Democratic style- In this a manager are responsible for motivating their employees. It is
essential to inspire employee because al the decision lies with organisation so there are
chances that employees may feel depressed.
Autocratic style of leadership- In managing business activities leader take final decision
in implementing innovative ideas in business activities. Most of the activities related to
activities in organisation are taken by leader only (Desimone, 2011).
1.3 Evaluation of communication process
Communication is a way of transferring information from one person to another. A good
communication practice will aid in proper transfer of information in the organisational
structure. A good communication practice will generate better relationship between different
sector of organisation. Proper communication practices in The Milestone Hotel and Residences'
will aid the to to grow in business structure. It follows a systematic process for transfer of
information that is underlined below -
Sender- A person want to pass some kind of information
Ideas- Information includes ideas and views
Encoding- The information in encodes in a form before it is transferred
Communication channel- It is a medium through which information is transferee
Decoding- The information is decoded and transferred to receiver
Receiver- A person receives the information
Feedback- After receiving the information the sender gives his views and reply

communication strategy for transferring of information in different sector of their hotel. It
is concluded that passing direct information to their employees will allow them to pass

follow formal way of communication.

gestures and actions. Hotel must ensure that their verbal message must meet their actions
properly (Mitchelmore and Rowley, 2010).
Barrier of communication – It means hindrances that are generated in communication
practices
Physiological barriers- This kind of barrier are created due to receivers physical domain
. It determine understanding and responsive capacity of a person.
Physical barriers – These kind of barriers arise mainly due to geographical boundaries.
In hotel business these kind of barriers may arise due to different types of travellers
resides in hotel.
Attitudinal barriers- This arises due to attitudes and behaviour of a person. Having
positive approach will enhance potent communication between different people in
organisational culture.
1.4 Organisational culture and change in 'The Milestone Hotel and Residences'
Culture in organisation depends upon types of activity and function performed in the
organisation. Different organisation follow different types of practices that help them to have
smooth flow of business activities (Godefroid, Levin and Molnar, 2012). A better internal
organisation al culture will help in proper workforce management and provide better hospitality
to customer that comes from different geographical region. It help in understanding better cross
culture practices that will increase productivity of organisation. 'The Milestone Hotel and
Residences ' can use several types of culture in smooth flowing of business activities
Power culture – It is about understanding different culture as fast as they can, that will
help hem in making better coordination and collaboration with employees. This activity
will also help in better utilisation of resources.
Role culture- In this every employees have are given different roles and responsibilities
according to their skills and knowledge so that organisation can get best result for their
planned action.
Task culture- It is important to assign task in a proper manner task must be given to
employees by proper judgement of efficiencies and potential of employees. TASK 2

personal own growth and development. Hotel provide best self development seminars
for developing own skills and abilities (Koenig and et al, 2011).
