In this assignment explained about the aims, plans and various concepts such as time scale and various types of research that like qualitative and quantitative. Positive impact of Globalization to the businesses in the UK Globalization is a force that shapes the contemporary world and create impact on business, environment and society. It is an ongoing process that is linking people, cities, religions and countries more closely together than they have ever before. It create positive impact to the business of UK (Basu, 2014). Economic Impact-Globalization involves the increased integration and interdependence of the global economy. It create positive impact on the business of UK and the benefits include greater competition, lower prices and economies of scale. There are various economic factor that create positive effect on the business of John Lewis, they are as following, Increased trade-Globalization provide opportunities to the companies to operate their businesses in various countries for example, UK has a comparative advantage in good such as financial services. Cause of globalization Lewis also operate its business internationally and increased its sales and trade by providing better quality products according their consumers needs. Increased competition-Globalisation leads to increased competition in businesses. In Lewis, this competition can be related to the product and services, cost or price, target markets, technological and others (Binder, 2016). It is beneficial for the Lewis because it provide good 3
quality product on relevant price that can be easily pay by the customers. Now these customers are ready to pay for good quality that affect the economic condition of this organisation positively. Tax avoidance- Globalisation has enabled firms to shift production from high tax countries to low tax countries. For example, Lewis have taken advantage of low tax rates in countries of Bermuda, Luxembourg and Ireland. Tax avoidance create positive impact because some countries have low tax rate and company pay less amount for that which create positive impact on the organisation economy as well as the UK(Bloch, Blumberg and Laartz, 2012). Culture Impact-Culture basically refers to characteristics of attitudes, values, beliefs and behaviours shared by members of a society or population. It refers to the life and work of persons, families and societies. Globalisation create positive cultural impact on Lewis, for example, if this company provide products according consumers needs such as in Pakistan people prefer full, long and body covered dresses according their culture and the people also prefer heavy jewellery. By providing that kind of costumes and accessories to them it can fulfil their demands and create positive impact in the organisation and country's economy. In British countries people like formal, short and trading clothes and light or fashionable accessories or company can fulfil their need according them. Ethical Impact-In globalization, companies expand its business one country to another and for operating business one country to another, the government of that country designed some rules and regulations that are necessary to follow by every companies if they do their business globally. For example, Lewis operate its business internationally in a legal way by following all rules and legislations of the UK government. It is a positive impact on the business of the company because no one creates illegal barriers for it such as file case and others. It helps the company to attract customers for their business in various countries and increase sales and profits that is a positive impact on the company and country's economy (Brady and Davies, 2014).
