INTRODUCTION
The housekeeping department is one of the most important department in the hospitality
industry as most of the customers satisfaction comprises from this. It is important for the
organisations to forecast the requirement of linen stock so that the guest in the hospitality
industry does not get hampered. This report will discuss about the role and responsibilities of
housekeeping department along with its interrelationship with various department of
organisation. In addition to this, report will also includes the contribution of housekeeping
department in accommodation services along with role of facilities and securities.

It is very essential to provide better services to the guests so that comfortable stay can be
provided to them. For this, staff members of housekeeping department have to provide unique
facilities to their guests in their rooms and bathrooms so that they can take unmatchable experience
from the hotel. Some of unique supplies which provides importance of them in the hotel premise are
given as under:
Guest supplies Importance
Bedding and Bedside Supplies It is very essential to provide proper bedding facility to the
guests so that they can sleep in proper manner. It includes
bedsheets, bed covers, pillows etc. and a list of important
phone numbers of hotel staff so that if they face any problem
at late night the hotel staff have duty to solve it in proper
manner.
Hospitality Tray In this tray several elements are included such as tea, coffee,
sugar, milk, break fast products etc. is provided to the guests
so that they can prepare their own beverages in easy manner.

Bathroom attachments In it, they have to provide shower, bath tub with mixer of hot
cold water, geyser facilities on the wash basin etc. in the
bathroom. Some other things such as soap dispenser, toilet
paper etc. are also provided to guests so that they can easily
bath.
Linen Stock The housekeeping staff have duty to provide proper linen
stock in rooms of hotels so that needs and demands of
customers gets fulfilled.
Vanity Tray In it, some gel bottles, shampoo, hair conditioner are included
and provided to customers so that they can feel the bathing
experience in proper manner.
The housekeeping department have to forecast or analyse the demand of linen stock in
the hotel so that proper report of it can be given to the managers. If there is a shortage of linen
stock in the hotel so managers have duty to maintain proper stock of linen so that better
satisfaction can be provided to the guest in easy manner (Chiu, 2013).
P8 Importance of interrelationships between housekeeping and other key departments
There are various divisions within the premises of Holiday inn hotel which have to works
with cooperation so that organisation can get growth and success in the marketplace.
Housekeeping is also an important department which have to coordinate with various
departments so that better satisfaction can be provided to the guests. Interrelation between
housekeeping and other departments are given as under:
Housekeeping and purchase department: Purchasing department of hotel have
responsibility to maintain proper stock of various products such as vegetables, stationary,
supplies of guests, cleaning material etc. in the hotel premise so that better services can be
provided to the customers. It also provides supports to the housekeeping department in
purchasing of such products. With the help of purchase department, Head of housekeeping
department will easily determine the needed number of products which must be purchased.
House keeping with HRM: Human resource manager has responsibility to maintain
human resource in the firm therefore, managers of housekeeping department have duty to

coordinate with HR department so that in the case of requirement of new employees then the
need will be fulfil in proper manner and better services can be provided to customers.

guests
Proper care and maintenance is an essential thing because it helps the managers of hotel in
providing impressive impression on the mindset of customers. With the help of this, customer can
easily attract towards the services of hotel which will be beneficial for the firm in enhancing their
customer base. Therefore, it is very important to the managers of Hotel Holiday Inn to manage the
services in proper manner (Wirtz, 2016). Maintenance is also important for keeping the interior of
lobby and rooms of hotel because customers preferred those hotels which are fully equipped and
there is no problem of repair works. Some of maintenance works which have to consider by the
managers, are given as under: Carpentry and furniture maintenance : This kind of works will provide the best
experience of furniture maintenance to their customers in which they can include bed and
chair repair of hotel rooms, carpentry maintenance services etc.
Plumbing and electrical systems : These system includes two major systems which
provides ability to the staff members of holiday inn in providing best services to their
customers. Because no maintenance of these systems can provide wrong impact on the
brand image of firm. For this, Staff members of the hotel have to make regular
inspections of these systems so that if any fault can be determined then solved it
accordingly.
P10 Discuss the importance of security within a selected organisation
Holiday Inn is a well known British hotel which provides better quality of services to
their customers so that brand image of firm can be maintained in the mindset of customers. As
the firm is a part of hospitality sector so they have to provide safe and secured environment to
the staff members and customer through which the organisational functions can be run in smooth
manner (Barlow,2013). As various visitors are come and stay in the hotel and if management
will not provide proper security to them then it will reduce the customer base of the firm so the

managers of hotel have duty to provide safety and security to them. The main security aspect
which is related with the safety of customers are given as under:
Physical aspects-It includes safety and security of external environment of the hotel in
which they have to check proper lightening facilities on the floor and hotel premises,
fences around the areas of hotel, security at gate. So that physical aspect of security can
be maintained in proper manner. They can also use CCTV cameras in the hotel premises
so that evidence of any misshapen can easily identified
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from the above report that accommodation is the main factor of
hospitality industry which provides surety to the managers about comfort of the customers.
Different kind of guests are come in the hotel with their assorted needs so that the managers have
duty to consider such needs and provide effective services to them at their stay time in hotel. The
roles and interrelationship between housekeeping and other divisions are also essential so that
better services can be provided to the customers.
