INTRODUCTION
In business, there are wide ranges of sectors of different categories of both small, medium
and large. The hospitality business sector is wider and approach which comprises of different
products and services such as lodging, room booking, food and drink or beverages etc. Main aim of
this report is to understand the importance of hospitality functions and operations. Four Seasons
Hotel and Resorts, an international and luxury hotel headquartered in Ontario, Canada. It has many
competitors such as The Ritz Carlton, Mandarin Oriental, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts etc. This
report comprises of roles within housekeeping department, importance of forecasting linen stock,
inter-relationship between housekeeping and other departments, importance of scheduling
maintenance or repair and importance of security.

P6 Examine key roles found within housekeeping department
In hotel sector, housekeeping department are those which is responsible for maintenance,
cleanliness, ensuring the quality of rooms, public areas, etc. to deliver better environment. In
relevance of chosen hotel, they too have housekeeping department with different roles and are
described below-
Cleaning rooms & public areas-
It is major role of housekeeping department of Four Season Hotel and Resorts in which they
wash toilets, rooms, wash basins in room etc. Also, they are responsible for cleaning terrace, floor,
elevators etc.
Linen management
It is another role which is being carried out by housekeeping department as in this they
manage and ensure the availability of clothes, storage, supplies, laundering etc. In relation of
chosen hotel housekeeping department regularly check the stock of every basic linen.
Laundry services-
In this role, department main work is to ensure clean intensity of hygienic washing of all
linen items & accordingly distributing items.

Forecasting play crucial role in hotel industry as it help in implementation of strategies and
tactics, decision making process etc. In reference of selected hotel, they do the forecasting of linen
stock & other guest supplies in order to ensure supply & demands of guests. Forecasting of these
amenities is important which is further explained below-
Forecasting of linen stock
Assist in managing inventory stocks- Through forecasting, it help hotel in examining and
analysing the number of resources or stock of inventory which is needed on daily basis.
Also, it assists in identifying of budget which is beneficial for ensuring needs & demands
(Melián-González, 2017).
Eliminates risk intensity- It is another importance of forecasting of linen stock in which
doing forecasting of linen stock help in reducing of risk within operations and other
activities.
Forecasting of guest supplies-
Guest supplies are those which are provided to guests ans increases the comfort level of
guests. Guest supplies include furniture, Wi-Fi, and other amenities. In relevance of chosen hotel,
they ensure that guest supplies are delivered in most efficient manner. Doing forecasting of such
supplies assists in providing better services and also increasing satisfaction of level guests at higher
scale (Oktazana, 2017).

hotel, housekeeping department make assure that these facilities are available to provide better

Resorts, they ensure hotel maintenance by up keeping of amenities such as TV, elevators, phone
lines etc.

Maintenance scheduling is important as it help in ensuring the functioning, machine smooth
working within business. In reference of selected hotel, the management of hotel ensure that repair
of work is also being done effectively. Guests and customers use amenities which reflects the need
of maintenance in hotel. It is important for hotel to schedule the maintenance so that it is easy to
make changes and provide highly effective services.

service is a critical process which is to be carried out with proper considerations. So, discussions
have been made about concept of accommodation service, different forms of ownership,
classification and grading system of hotel, front office functions. Then, roles within front office
department, roles of housekeeping department, importance of linen stock & guest supplies,
importance of inter-relation between housekeeping other departments, importance of maintenance
and security has been briefly explained. Thus, it is evaluated that it is crucial to be well aware about
