INTRODUCTION
Managing and developing people in the hospitality industry helps businesses to increase the
effectiveness in the productivity and growth of the organization. Human resource management of
the hospitality play vital role in the development and growth of the business in the market. This
enhances the level of effectiveness and growth of the organization in the hospitality industry.
Hospitality industry enhances the level of effectiveness in their services that helps to gain better
growth and effective profitability in the market. This report is based on Whitbread organization
based in Houghton Regis. The organization is largest hotel chain in UK, and operates with over
785, hotels and 72000 rooms. This report includes information about analysis of systematic
approach to the performance management process as a part of human resource development
within hospitality industry. Also this includes information about stages of team development for
certain of high performance within hospitality industry. Also this includes information about
leadership in 21st century within hospitality industry. In the last it includes information about
causes of conflict, conflict management skills, and strategies within the leadership development
process.
MAIN BODY

human resource development within the hospitality industry.
Performance management refer to setting of all the goals and objectives of the work in
order to fulfil the effective performance at the work place. A well run performance management
provide effective goals and objectives to the human resource department in order to gain
effective growth and profitability in the market. It provides effective opportunity to the
employees to discussion and feedback with the supervisor in the business. In hospitality business
it provides effective growth and achievement of gaols and objectives to the employees so that
they can provide effective outcome to the business. Below are various approaches to the
performance management process within the human resource department of Whitbread.
Job description: It is the first step that human resource department of Whitbread follow in
order to analyse expectation of job role. It is the document that informs the new employee of
Whitbread what job they have to perform and what is the expectation of the company from their
job role. It define all the responsibility and goals of the business needs to achieve in order to gain

better growth and proficiency in the hotel business. It provide effective insight to the employee
about the responsibilities and work they needs to fulfil in order to gain better growth and
proficiency in the business.
Assessing performance informally: the main motive of performance management is to
assess performance informally so that they can effectively review schedule work and team
performance in the business. In the context of Whitbread human resources department of the
hotel ensure that their analyse performance on daily basis so that effective training and
development can be provide to the Employees. They also convey goals and objectives of the
company to the Employees so that they can contribute in the achievement of those goals in
objective in effective manner. Assessment of performance is important to measure the growth of
employee within the organisation and need to provide them training after mentoring their
performance. Also performance management ensure that they provide effective training program
to their employees performing underperformance this can this can help organisation to gain
various goals and objectives and effective performance of employee with an organisation.
Reward: this approach followed by the Human Resource Department of Whitbread in
order to achieve effective performance after analysing the performance of employees. Human
Resource Department ensure that they provide effective reward system management to their
organisation so that they can motivate and encourage employees towards achievement of
organisational goals and objectives. They award people for learning new skills, new assignment,
better growth, and effective performance in the organisation. It helps the business of Whitbread
to achieve goals and objectives and performance of employees. It enhance the level of employee
motivation and loyalty towards their organisation, also this help in achievement of effective
performance by the employees.
Training and career development: providing effective training and career development
to the Employees helps to achieve effective performance within a business organisation. Also it
attracts talented and skilled employees towards the organisation. Effective training and
development programme of Whitbread ensure that employee working within organisation can
perform their jobs in effective manner and provide Hotel effective for manner and growth. they
ensure that every employee in the organisation can achieve self-development career
