INTRODUCTION
Manager manages all the aspects of business activities in such a way that it contributes in
attaining goals and objectives of an organisation. This report is based on the case study of ABC
Company which is a recruitment organization and it is, facing problem in management and
leadership. The present report depicts about the importance of business process to deliver the
best possible outcomes and suggest the plan for area of responsibility to effectively implement
the operational plans. It needs to monitor appropriate systems to improve organisational
performance and manage health and safety in the workplace.
TASK 1
1.1
ABC Company, have framed mission, vision, objective of the organisation to provide
direction to the workforce.

others so that they can reach their recruitment goals and creates lasting
relationships with our clients on the basis of integrity, trust and mutual

ABC Company follows tall organisation structure where there are 4 levels of
management and each level is accountable to the higher level and follows role culture. There is
small span of control under each manager who is in charge of small group of people. Generally,
this organisation structure faces challenge to quickly respond to market changes as each
department is interlinked with each other. Under the current scenario, President along with its
team plans out strategies for the organisation with regards to mission, vision and objective of an
organisation (Kim and Ko, 2012). Team includes managers and decision makers and a person
who have the knowledge of legal framework of an organisation. Further, this strategy is
implemented by the Accounting, marketing, HR head and Entry Level. These departments
manage their respective department and are empowered to take decision but along with that they
have to comply with the laws and regulation framed by government of UK.
Company follows power culture, where decisions are taken by one or a few people and
does not involve large number of employees. But this culture overcomes the drawback faced by
the tall organisation structure, where decisions are not made quickly so the president and vice
president takes the decision and enforce them on the staff members. However, ABC Company is
not able to take benefit of hiring skilled staff members, it de-motivates the employee and
therefore company is facing the problem of high staff turnover.

ABC organization can attain the goals and objective of the organisation by providing
quality services to their clients i.e. they should render best possible jobs to the candidate as per
their skills and interest and give suitable candidates to the companies as per their needs and
requirement. The organisation follows the fixed process to deliver quality services to the client
and candidates (Lacey, 2011). All the departments have to work in coordination to attain
optimum results for the company. They have adopted a fixed method to operate their
functioning. Upper department have framed the strategies to deliver satisfactory services to the
client and candidates. For that, they have adopted the fixed format for their functioning which is
depicted below:

Entry level department have installed the software which maintains the list of the company
which have vacancies including the number of vacancies, job profile, and urgent requirement or
for future date. As per their requirement, marketing department advertises the vacancies in
newspaper and upload them in different job portals websites such as Timesjob.com, Shine.com.
Etc. Here, the desired candidates are screened as per their experience, qualification, skills for the

different job profile. If they found suitable candidates then they contact them through telephone,
mails and messages and call them for interview. HR department receive CV and conduct their
interview to ensure that the job profile matches with the qualification and experience as well as
check their background (Magal and Word, 2011). They give a brief about the companies to the
candidates that match their skills. The candidate chooses the organization in which he/she likes
to be placed. Then, face to face meeting is organized between client and candidate. The
placement company gives confirmation to the suitable person after having a word with the client.
This method is best for the organisation as it satisfies the requirements of client and candidate.
1.3
By adopting this process, ABC Company can provide satisfactory services to the client
and candidates. The placement Company has contract with many best companies of UK.
Through marketing, they can get the best possible candidates for client which suits the
requirement of the company and helps them to earn future returns. This company have chosen
the best marketing plan to receive variety of options. It makes them aware about wide range of
candidates who can apply for the job. The elements which are involved in building quality
gateway focus on the output of the processes:
Software that keep track record of all the companies: Entry level department maintains the
software which keeps track record of all the companies that have tie up with the ABC company,
along with the details of number of vacancies, job description, job profile, etc. They try to create
good public image through which they can link with renowned and reputed companies (Smith,
Gonin and Besharov, 2013). Making aware about the vacancies: ABC organization advertises the vacancies in the
newspaper and the website through which they can receive the desired applicants. They
also contact the appropriate candidate through E-mail, Messages and call.
 Arranges interview with the company: After analyzing the candidate by taking
interview, they shortlist the few among them and arranges their interview with the
company. The placement company gives a brief about the firm to the candidate as per
their skills and abilities and also gives him the option to choose the organisation in which
he/she wants to be placed (Pascalau and Rath, 2010). This process satisfies the customer
as well as the client.

TASK 2
2.1
ABC Company is facing the problem of ineffective management and leadership style; it
results into increasing employee turnover and delay in operations. It is required to work on its
management and leadership style to link out with more reputed clients and provide them
satisfactory services (Lutchen, 2011). For that, the leader has to adopt participative leadership
style. This leadership style is a style states that leader allows its subordinates and colleagues to
participate in the decision making process. This style helps the management to make aware the
employees about the problems and challenges faced by the ABC Company. It will motivate the
workforce to take active part to attain objective of the organization (Kumar, Petersen and Leone,
2013). When the President and Vice president makes strategies for the ABC company, they
should involve marketing, accountant, HR manager and Entry level managers as they are the one
who deals with the candidates so they better understand the demand in the market and thus helps
them to make informed decision.
This company follows role culture where the employees are assigned a particular role or
job. Recruitment Company has to perform various tasks and this culture assists the organization
to divide the company without unnecessary duplication of work (Evans and Lindsay, 2013).
When everyone is assigned with the particular task as per its skills and expertise, it will reduce
the chances of errors and mistakes in the operation (Barringer, 2012). For instance, HR
department will be engaged in selecting the desired candidates for the organisation. This aids the
management to keep an eye on every part of the company and manage the business activity to
achieve the best possible outcomes.
2.2
The ABC Company have framed SMART objectives which are depicted below: Specific: The firm have framed the objective to recruit and select the best personnel for
the client by overcoming the ineffective leadership and management. Measurable: This objective can be measured by comparing the past profits with the
current profit of the company. The profit of the firm will increase only if they are able to
provide satisfactory services to the client and candidates. Then only, they will link and
get connected with the renowned and reputed companies which will ultimately contribute
in the revenue of the company.

 Attainable: This objective can be attained as the firm has required skills, abilities and
financial capacity (Ekinsmyth, 2013). It only needs to allocate and assign jobs and
responsibilities. Realistic: This is a realistic objective of the Company as the workforce is willing and
able to work for the plan. Further, the employees of the ABC Company are capable
enough to accomplish this goal. President and Vice president have planned out this
strategy after evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of staff member and have been
found that this objective is a realistic one (Ekinsmyth, 2013.).
 Time-related: Objective is irrelevant, if they are not time bound. ABC company have
decided to attain the above mentioned objective in one year, If all the organisation work
together, this goal can be attained within the time frame.
2.3
Management is required to plan out the system which would assist them to achieve the
objective efficiently and effectively which are given in brief:
Finance department should allocate the funds in a proper manner in each activity as this
would avoid wastage of funds and fix the budget (Kim and Ko, 2012). Each department have to
organize business activity by considering the budget allocated. This helps the organisation in
optimum utilisation of funds.
Company should adopt the Performance appraisal system to encourage employees to
improve their efficiency level. This will make the management aware about the areas of
improvement that would require training. The ABC Company should provide incentives and
bonuses on the basis of their performance (Lin-Hi and Blumberg, 2012). They should develop a
system where employees should give rating to their performance as well as the leaders will give
rates as per their performance and behaviour. This will assist the company to analyze and
evaluate the strength and weaknesses of each employee and take steps to improve the
performance so that they can contribute in a better way.
Leadership: ABC Company should change its leadership style to the participative
leadership style as this will provide better direction and guidance to the workforce. It will
motivate employee as they feel themselves important part of the organisation. Staff member will
follow the pathway of the leader so he/she should perform his activity with care as it will directly
affect the performance of employees (Maon, Lindgreen and Swaen, 2010). Leaders should build

friendly relationship with the staff so that they can present and discuss their problems and
challenges faced by them and leader can either resolve the problem himself or transfer it to the
higher level of management.
2.4
President and Vice president have formulated strategies and they have then designed plan
to attain those strategies (Sadiq and Governatori, 2015). Management and the team work in
corporation to implement the plans. The functions of management do not stop here, they need to
monitor and control the actions of employees to determine whether the plan is working as per
the plan designed. This will help the company to identify deviation and take corrective actions
accordingly. The ABC Company have taken the following tools and technique to monitor and
control the action plan.
They should develop the system in such a way that work of one person is automatically
checked by another. This is known as the internal check (Wikström and et.al, 2010.). It will
assist the management to identify the errors as soon as possible and take corrective measures.
They should set the benchmark and standard of their performance and then consistently
compare the actual performance with the standard one and identify the reason of such deviation
and take steps to reduce the gap between the actual and the standard performance.

In order to assist the ABC company in carrying out its operational plan a techniques has
been proposed namely Critical Path Method. This is the prominent technique in which the said
company is using a set of scheduled steps which assist the firm in conducting its operations in
the respective manner. The above demonstrated smart objectives can be used by the firm and for
this purpose another procedural plan can be laid so as to assist the company in undertaking the
following sequence of steps which will successful accomplishment of project along with the
prescribed quality.
TASK 3
3.1
In order to increase and improve the productivity of any organisation, quality is of utmost
importance. Quality of product and services offered by the company brings in new clients,

customers and repeat sales. There are various methods to control and monitor the quality of
services. Some of the methods which are adopted by ABC Company are as follows:
Quality Conformance: This system deals with quality specification of goods and services
offered by the organisation. The ABC Company ensures that services offered to its clients are as
per the specification they want. Addition to it, quality assurance department of the company sees
that they meet the standard target which has been set by the firm (Barringer, 2012).
Total Quality Management: It states that every employee in the organisation is
responsible to deliver quality services to its internal and external customers. Every member of
ABC Company ensures that the work is completed on time and with the required quality. This
will help the organization to reach its benchmark set by company and will assist in
accomplishing other task of the corporation.
Quality Management Systems: It is a system to co-ordinate activities of different
department of organisation to achieve its goals and objective thereby increasing the overall
performance of individual. Managers of ABC company monitors and manage the activities of all
staff members so that quality services can be provided to its client members (Cartwright and
Cooper, 2012). ABC also complies to some of the International standards listed as ISO 9000-
quality management which deals with the customer’s need and satisfaction.
3.2
In order to maintain the quality of product and services in the organisation it is essential
to build quality culture. ABC Company creates quality culture by using TQM system. Further,
mere adaptation of a system is not the only task of the management. They have to keep a track of
the particular process. This can be done with the assistance of proper monitoring of activities,
evaluation of the system and then developing it by making corrective actions.
Therefore, the TQM system needs to be monitored by the manager of ABC Company.
For this purpose, it is essential that the manager ensures services rendered to its clients are as per
the specification. TQM is a philosophy which enables the organisation to meet its client’s needs.
With the help of effective leaders and managers, ABC can meet its set benchmarks on time with
the prescribed quality as desired by the customers.
After successful monitoring the system, it is essential that it should be evaluated. This
will enable the managers to make prospective changes in regard with any deficiency of the
system. Further, this can be done with the help of evaluating one's own performance. Employees

will be motivated, if they will involve themselves in the improvement process (Ekinsmyth,
2013). This will ensure the quality of services provided by them thereby enhancing the quality
culture of ABC Company.
Lastly, steps can be taken to modify and develop the system. Corrective actions shall be
taken by the management, if the clients are not satisfied with the quality and performance of
services. With above steps, ABC can create a quality culture for the betterment of organization.
3.3
With the constant improvement, a company can achieve its desired aims and objectives.
It is desirable that organisation should continuously focus on innovating and bringing in new
policies and practices for the betterment of the corporation. As per the current case scenario,
ABC should emphasize on the following points to improve the operations:
 The company shall start training sessions for new employees. This will give a better
understanding of the work that employee needs to do.
 Secondly, company shall start up with open meeting sessions which will bring in new and
innovative ideas and suggestion from the members of the company. This will cause the
organisation to achieve its goals and objectives (Evans and Lindsay, 2013). For instance,
the specific objective of the ABC Company is to increase the number of clients and
deliver fast services to its clients. This can be accomplished by introducing team working
in the office. With the group efforts of people, it is easy to attain the desired target.
 Thirdly, the company should make efforts to provide quality services to its client and
make sure the requirement of clients is met. Along with it, ABC should review the
competitor’s performance and make efforts to compete with them. Therefore, clients
should be considered as a superior.
 Lastly, it should focus on improving the leadership and management styles adopted by
the organization. Company can adopt democratic style of leadership to improve the
relationships of the company. With the help of this style, ABC gives power to its
employees to take part in the decision making process of the firm (Henneberg, Naudé and
Mouzas, 2010).

3.4
Changes are a part of the firm and in order to compete in the market company need to
keep on changing with the current environment (Pascalau and Rath, 2010). Some of the changes
which can be proposed by ABC Company is to improve its operations which are enlisted below:
 As per the case, lots of employee has left the organization for various reasons. This can
be resolved by proper manpower planning and implementing them in the organisation.
With manpower planning, company can recruit new employees at the right time. If the
organization does not want its current employees to be the part of the system then it can
start-up with the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS).
 Secondly, the managers of the ABC organization can outset brainstorming sessions which
will help in bringing new ideas and suggestions from employees. These ideas and
thoughts can be implemented in the firm by the managers (Kim and Ko, 2012).
 Thirdly, company can expand its business in new areas such as HR outsourcing. This is a
trending business activity which can be adopted by many companies. Similarly, ABC can
outsource HR work by hiring manpower as a recruitment team. This will generate
revenue for the company and employees can be enlightened about various activities like
payroll and employee engagement.
 Lastly, company can outsource its business in various developing countries where it is
cheaper to carry out business activities. In order to expand, ABC must open newer
ventures in developing countries where there is a large demand for recruitment activities.
It is the responsibility of management to decide the potential country where it can grow
its business and earn huge benefits.
TASK 4
4.1
It is important to analyze the risk at workplace to reduce and minimize danger. It is the
responsibility of ABC Company to protect the health and safety of employee in compliance with
Employee Health and Safety Act 1974, Factories Act 1961, Employment Act 2002. Steps
undertaken by ABC Company for the risk assessment with reference to legal laws and legislation
have been elaborated below:

 First of all, risks are required to be identified for the purpose of employee's safety and
health. Further, plans are presented on how to avoid or minimize the risk. For example,
precautions can be made in advance for employee getting injured or in case of fire
accidents or any unforeseen event (Kumar, Petersen and Leone, 2013).
 Secondly, it is essential to identify the person at risk or the employee who may get
harmed. It is the duty of the management of ABC to formulate plans and take corrective
actions to protect the worker from getting injured.
 Third step deals with measuring risk and determining control actions to reduce it. It is of
utmost importance to measure the risk regarding employee protection and prevention of
risk shall be done just after identifying the hazard that is likely to occur (Lacey, 2011).
The management shall evaluate the risk and suggest the best possible method to remove
or eradicate the risk.
 After this, the findings shall be recorded and presented to the management which shall
take respective actions in this regard.

 Lastly, the management of ABC shall review the risk assessed for the future prospect to
make corrective actions if needed. This will help the company to improve.
4.2
Management is responsible to take care of health and safety of the employee's of ABC
Company. In regard to the various legal and regulatory acts, corporation can make following
reservations in respect of employee health and safety:
 It can provide training to its workers on fire fighting and to deal with the other situation
when there is no help from other source. Along with the life of employee, it can also save
the organization from the harm.
 Further, a register can be maintained to record the medicines provided by the firm to
workers. This will provide an idea of using medication in the office and assist the
management to keep stock of those medicines that are mostly provided and preferred by
the members (Lin-Hi and Blumberg, 2012).
 Basic training on using first aid shall be imparted to the floor line employee so that they
are not reliable on doctors all time. Further, in case of emergency they can help
themselves.
 Lastly, management can conduct sessions on using different automatic machines and
equipments. It will ensure that workers do not face any trouble while accessing the
automatic doors and machines.
4.3
To make a workplace safe and free from all harm, it requires formulation of policies and
procedures and should timely review the same. It increases the company’s accountability and
transparency and is cardinal to quality advancement and quality assurance programs. Some of the
ways through which health and safety regulations at ABC can be reviewed are discussed below:
 Audit, inspection and reviews are few methods to ensure health and safety of members at
the organization. ABC can conduct safety audit to make sure all health and safety
regulation acts and corrective actions shall be taken if any point has been missed out by
the company.
 It can also hire external auditors who are well-known with the audit process of ABC
Company and suggest some measures by which more relevant policies and procedures
can be undertaken in the firm (Lutchen, 2011).

 A checklist shall be prepared by the OHS team of ABC Company which will ensure that
the company has included all relevant points in its policies and procedures and they have
not missed out anything.
 It can review the policies by conducting meetings with consultation firms and check on
the list of all health and safety procurements that can be made by the company.
This will ensure that the workers are safe and secure at the workplace and a feeling of self
content is found in worker which will enable them to increase their productivity.
4.4
Ways in which health and safety policies and procedures can be implemented in ABC
Company are illustrated below:
 Workers of ABC must inform about the health and safety hazards that are likely to occur
in the organisation. They must be aware about how to act in different situations which
might arise in the future.
 They shall be trained to use different appliances like fire extinguisher, emergency exits
and must have knowledge about location of medicines and first aid boxes kept in the
organization (Magal and Word, 2011). Therefore, employee can use different things in
the emergency situations.
 In order to acknowledge, proper training is imparted to all employees and the company
can conduct an examination test to ensure that people have utilized the training session
properly. Test based on the previous training shall be conducted and if any member fails
in the examination, it needs to be trained again. This will give a relief on part of the
management that people are well trained and employees will be safe if any unexpected
event occurs.
CONCLUSION
This report deals with various aspects of management and their interpersonal relationship
in ABC Company. Therefore, with the completion of this study we can conclude that with the
proper management and democratic leadership style the company can achieve its aims and
objectives (Maon, Lindgreen and Swaen, 2010). Additionally, with effective monitoring of
activities and providing quality services to its clients, company can overcome its deficiencies.

Moreover, making risk assessment and providing health and safety benefits to employee creates
a healthy environment which in turn increases the overall productivity of the firm.
