from same industry or trade (Nukala, Callaghan and Bawel, Microsoft Technology Licensing
LLC, 2015).
3. Different categories of events along with their features and current trends.
Events can be categorized as:
Social life-cycle events: These events include golden wedding anniversaries, weddings,
bar mitzvahs and many other events which mark passage of time with the celebration of each
milestone. Within the wedding industry, it is uncommon for hosting an event which lasts for
around three or more days along with the actual ceremonies (Three Trends Changing the Events
Industry, 2018) . These events are being managed by organizations like Butter & Company,
The Waldorf Hilton, etc.
Sport events: Before, during or while following the big game events, they are being
used to create attraction by capturing and motivating spectators regardless of what will be the
outcome of event to support their team. Proliferation of events like postgame fireworks, pregame

Growth of third-party meeting planners: In this case, planners are leaving their
own association to have their independent corporations. They are starting their event
companies as this is one of the growing sectors at present scenario.
Enhanced use of technology: Fax, e-mail, internet, in-room technology, video
conferencing, barcode for security of guest room and inventory control along with other
equipments.
Wearable tech and sensors: Wi-Fi, iBeacons, GPS, near field communication (NFC)
and Bluetooth assists event organizers to collect information with respect to experience of guests,
roam and interacts at events. After this, this information is given back to the central CRM.
Virtual reality (VR) experiences using VR headsets: Virtual tour and product demos
can enhance the potential of marketing by allowing customer to involve themselves with an
event before it is being attended. This is used by organizations like Butter & Company, The
Waldorf Hilton, etc. to render their guests with unique experience.
4. Analysis of current event trends to explicate how events adpted to remain innovative.
An innovation which can be done in events can be sustainable event management which
is the process for integration of social and environmental responsibility issues within event
planning. In this organization like Butter & Company, The Waldorf Hilton, etc. must
consider the values as well as needs of various stakeholders who will be affected by event.
This method will lead to reduction in solid waste. Within sustainable events latest trends
are being used with respect to technology which assist attendees to have enhanced results
by usage of hybrid events and mobile apps, example of this is Event sustainability
specialist, Shawna McKinley. By this organisation like Butter & Company, The Waldorf
Hilton, etc. can save money or budget for event. This can be attained by making design for
reuse branding and waste wide and beverage planning. Furthermore, by reducing the
environmental impact, it will also lead to sustainability of organizations like Butter &
Company, The Waldorf Hilton, etc. If these organizations are not much dependent on
natural resources compared to competitors then it will be difficult to deal with the costs
due to climatic changes. Thus, it will lead to longer term sustainability and profitability
within the market (Rogers and Davidson, 2015).
Document Page
Organisations like Butter & Company, The Waldorf Hilton, etc. need to consider at
footprint of an attendee (visitor to an event conference or party). On an average, one guest
discards around 1.89 kg of waste every day. This is comparable to 2.6 weights of compact
cars days. Even by making use of enhanced recycling and composting programs at venue,
when there are around 5000 attendees the still lots of waste will be ejected. By taking into
consideration what can be imposed in appropriate manner and what can’t, must be
acknowledged and should disposed off in the same manner (Kripalani, Tripathi and
Tanesheri, Microsoft Technology Licensing LLC, 2015).
The carbon footprint can vary depending on type of event. Like a local conference will
have less number of air travelers as compared to attendees on train and car journey (New
Sustainable Event Management (2018 Edition) . The ways in which organisation like Butter &
Company, The Waldorf Hilton, etc. can shrink carbon footprint includes:
Rendering hybrid, virtual and remote options for attendees, centralized locations which
will balance out the travel and which must be closer to the preponderance of participants.

Green venues and hotels that is making initiative must also make use of green energy
purchasing (Stoldt, Dittmore and Branvold, 2018)(Nukala, Callaghan and Bawel,
Microsoft Technology Licensing LLC, 2015).
Incentivizing pooling of car for attendees and by elimination of in-event travel by making
walk able event for the neighborhoods.
The biggest problems which this sector is going through are that 41% of waste goes to
landfill and this must be avoided. It can be attained by:
Event organizers need to ensure that venue, destination and caterers which are
selected by them have enhanced compositing and recycling programs.

waste station, signs and must monitor to assist attendees and exhibitors to sort
their waste (Vance and Paik, 2015).

and enhanced facilities as well as burden to organize & maintain things also comes to an end.
DIY Events and meetups are growing: Websites such as meetup have established entire
sub industry for events. Though maximum of them are small local gatherings which do not
generate high revenue for specific brand. A considerable example for this is WordCamp which is
widely used to bring collectively WordPress developers to share their solutions as well as ideas
for their probable clients. More websites are popping up to service DIY events which renders
various planning advices (Getz and Page, 2016)(Vance and Paik, 2015).
Virtual reality experiences enhance events: In sporting industry, the virtual reality will
completely change the event attendance within coming future. It is a distant possibility virtual
realiry will provide an opportunity to people who may otherwise will not be able to be a part of

an event. Like people opt for watching sports events at home rather than going for playground as
tickets may be either too costly. Apart from this, virtual reality has potential for enhancing events
such as trade shows.
Organizations like Butter & Company, The Waldorf Hilton, etc. can make use of
technologies as it will is crucial to analyse the potential partners with respect to ways in
which tech can be merged with latest systems and also takes into consideration the
experience in scaling of events which are being organized by them (Gregory, 2015). By this

ons to an event. By these organizations like Butter & Company, The Waldorf Hilton, etc.
can enhance attendance as well as develop a new revenue streams within events.
