Assessment 1INTRODUCTIONThe application of management of project for creation and expansion of large scaleevents is referred to as event management. It is engaged in the process of identification of targetaudience, study of the brand, planning the logistics, coordinating the technical aspects anddevising the event concept before the event is actually launched (Rogers and Davidson, 2015). In16/17 in United Kingdom, the amount which was spent on events was around £39.1 billionwhich contributes to approximately 35% to the visitor economy. This sector is 16th largestemployer within UK. Events can by anything like parties, conferences, weddings, gettogether or symposiums. This report is based on Butter & Company and The WaldorfHilton. Butter & Company is a full service team which offers event design, catering,staffing and decoration for elegant events which have the capacity of around 4 to 400guests. They are specialised in buffets and weddings. The Waldorf Hilton was started in1908 which is present in enviable location which makes it suitable for both business andleisure. They provide the different packages for events. This report contains variousdimensions and categories of events by making use of examples, current trends in eventsand their analysis with respect to innovation. Furthermore, a critique to development ofevents in different categories and design for room layout has been provided.2. Examine various dimensions and categories of events.Events refer to planned management of occasion which occurs in between customer andspace provided. This sector is basically known as MICE which comprises of meetings,incentives, conferences and exhibitions but they are also known by other names also whichinclude events, catering, banqueting and conference. Organizationlike Butter & Company, TheWaldorf Hilton, etc. provides the space for carrying out various events on the basis ofrequirements of person. The events can be classified into different categories depending uponthe needs of individual:Mega events: These are the events which have worldwide exposure as well as audiencewhich have relevant impact on social as well as economy (Kripalani, Tripathi and Tanesheri,Microsoft Technology Licensing LLC, 2015). They are considered as one of the most awaited

and must-see events. They include: FIFA World cup, Olympic games and USA NFL SuperBowl.Hallmark events: These events occur at same location whenever they occur in a year.They are usually synonymous with respect to location. These events include Sydney Gay MardiGras, Tamworth Country music festival and many others.Major events: These events can attract more number of visitors and also have largemedia coverage. Apart from this, they also provide economic benefits to country. They includesboutique style events which have restricted following (Stoldt, Dittmore and Branvold, 2018).These are not must see events for everyone. This includes AFL grand final, goodwill games, etc.Minor events: The events which are carried out by local government are known as minorevents. There major objective to have cultural, social and entertainment objectives. Example ofsuch kind of objectives is NSW, Man from snowy river bush festival in Corryong and manyothers.Apart from this there are certain corporate events within MICE industry, they are mentionedbelow:Meetings: This comprises of various gatherings for sharing information and decisionmaking. This may also comprise discussions and presentations. These can be a business meetingsor personal get together.Incentives: These comprises of reward for high level achievements or performancewithin an organization. In this experience is offered to employees which would not haveotherwise.Convention: This includes formal gatherings among people who belong to the sameoccupation and industry. These can be small parties which are organized for employees within aindustry.Exhibition: This includes a promotional events in which visitors are informed aboutservices and products which are available within the industry. They basically include people

Different categories of events along with their features and current trends.Events can be categorized as:Social life-cycle events: These events include golden wedding anniversaries, weddings,bar mitzvahs and many other events which mark passage of time with the celebration of eachmilestone. Within the wedding industry, it is uncommon for hosting an event which lasts foraround three or more days along with the actual ceremonies (Three Trends Changing the EventsIndustry, 2018) . These events are being managed by organizations like Butter & Company,The Waldorf Hilton, etc. Sport events: Before, during or while following the big game events, they are beingused to create attraction by capturing and motivating spectators regardless of what will be theoutcome of event to support their team. Proliferation of events like postgame fireworks, pregamegiveaways, musical shows and even promotional events like trivia contests during the game.These events are not organized by organizations like Butter & Company, The Waldorf Hilton,etc. as they are large scale events and require much more space.Trade shows: A trade fair (trade exhibition, show or expo) is an exhibition which isorganized in such a way that organizations can showcase and exhibit their current services andproducts. In this organizations meet with their potential customers and industry partners, analysethe activities of rivals and evaluate the latest market opportunities as well as trends. These eventscan be organized by organizations like Butter & Company, The Waldorf Hilton, etc.depending upon size of the event (Getz and Page, 2016).Trends in the meetings industryContinued globalization: This is the international consolidation of big business and isthe growing trend in which countries are allowed to transfer services and goods across nationalboundaries. This requires more number of meetings as well as conventions for this a space canbe reserved within Butter & Company, The Waldorf Hilton, etc.

Growth of third-party meeting planners: In this case, planners are leaving theirown association to have their independent corporations. They are starting their eventcompanies as this is one of the growing sectors at present scenario. Enhanced use of technology: Fax, e-mail, internet, in-room technology, videoconferencing, barcode for security of guest room and inventory control along with otherequipments.Wearable tech and sensors: Wi-Fi, iBeacons, GPS, near field communication (NFC)and Bluetooth assists event organizers to collect information with respect to experience of guests,roam and interacts at events. Analysis of current event trends to explicate how events adpted to remain innovative.An innovation which can be done in events can be sustainable event management whichis the process for integration of social and environmental responsibility issues within eventplanning. In this organization like Butter & Company, The Waldorf Hilton, etc. mustconsider the values as well as needs of various stakeholders who will be affected by event.This method will lead to reduction in solid waste. Within sustainable events latest trendsare being used with respect to technology which assist attendees to have enhanced resultsby usage of hybrid events and mobile apps, example of this is Event sustainabilityspecialist, Shawna McKinley. By this organisation like Butter & Company, The WaldorfHilton, etc. can save money or budget for event. This can be attained by making design forreuse branding and waste wide and beverage planning. Furthermore, by reducing theenvironmental impact, it will also lead to sustainability of organizations like Butter &Company, The Waldorf Hilton, etc. If these organizations are not much dependent onnatural resources compared to competitors then it will be difficult to deal with the costsdue to climatic changes. Thus, it will lead to longer term sustainability and profitabilitywithin the market (Rogers and Davidson, 2015).
