INTRODUCTION
Health and social sector is that sector in which there is a complete focus on the service quality
in order to take care of the sensitivity of the sector. All people working in the health and social
care sector put extra care and focus on the careful actions and take care of all carelessness in
the organisation (Aveyard, 2014).
Health and care sector should be careful in recruiting the staff and workers for the hospital like
King’s Nursing home. This assignment will spread awareness about the importance of the
human resource management in the staff recruitment that carries the ability of responsibility
and roles which are required in the HSC sector. This assignment will also focus on the effect of
the organisational factors, management styles, legislation and policies on the team
effectiveness. There will be the suggestion for selecting the individual for the post of the
operation in the King’s Nursing home. Further, there will be the explanation of the theories for
the effective leadership in the workplace of HSC, also there will be the evaluation of the self-
development effect on the approaches of the management. Moreover, the promotion and
monitor of the worker development in the HSC sector will be examined.

TASK 1 – CASE SCENARIO
1.1 PLANNING THE RECRUITMENT OF AN INDIVIDUAL TO FILL THE POST IN A
KING’S NURSING HOME SETTING
We have to consider some important factors while recruiting the employees for the King’s
nursing home which are described as:
Outlining the requirements
Finance and fund requirements
Government policies
Advertising or external recruitment
Outlining the requirements: The most crucial factor that needs to be considered by the King’
Nursing home is describing all the requirements in a clear way. This step includes the find out
the need that should be fulfilled immediately in terms of the recruitment and outlining the type
of skills and specialization required for the fulfilling the vacancy (Cappelli and Keller, 2017).
Recruitment finance and cost required: This process need to focus on the amount of the cost
and fund needed for completing the process of the recruitment. Like King’s nursing home need
to give advertisements for the vacancy of the post. And also they have to arrange the funds for
giving the salary to the new candidates.
Advertising and external recruitment: Firstly King's nursing home will focus on the internal
recruitment if still there are any vacant posts left then they will do external recruitment
through campus recruitment or completing the recruitment process itself in the care home.
They have to give advertisements for the same.
Government policies: While conducting the recruitment process and hiring the candidates the
King's nursing home should also consider the government policies prevailing in the area like
wages policies, child Labour etc. (Cappelli and Keller, 2017).

1.2 EXPLAIN VARIOUS KEY LEGISLATIONS AND POLICIES YOU HAVE
EMPLOYED TO ENSURE THE SELECTION OF THE ‘RIGHT’ INDIVIDUAL FOR THE
JOB
The selection process of the King's nursing home should be conducted while considering the all
key policies and key legislation prevailing in the market by the government. Following are some
policies and legislation which should be ensured by the HR officer while the selection of the
right candidate (Cascio, 2018):
Employment policy & legislation employment relations act 2004: According to this act,
all the employees and staff should be given the same salary at same job profile and
there should be no partiality on the basis of race, age etc.
Sex discrimination act 1975: According to this, while ensuring the selection process of
the skilled and right candidate there should not any type of discrimination like indirect
or direct discrimination.
Equality Act: This act ensures that every individual has a same and equal right for doing
a job in the organization and should not have any discrimination on the aspects like sex,
age, disability or socioeconomic factors (Hakim, 2016).
Freedom of information act: The individual who is selecting for the job have an full
freedom of asking the full information about the job profile, company operations,
working hours, nature of the job, job specifications and descriptions, contracts etc.
Apart from these, King’s nursing home need to provide good quality care services and they
need to ensure all legislation and policies while recruiting the employees.

1.3 EVALUATE DIFFERENT APPROACHES FOR THE SELECTION OF THE BEST
INDIVIDUALS IN KING’S NURSING HOME
For recruiting the most suitable and eligible employees, different methods, steps and
approaches can be used by the King’s nursing home. Optimum selection of the best individual
can be ensured by the adoption of the following approaches (Daly, 2015):
1. Firstly the capable candidates can be selected within the pool of various candidates by
preparing the Performa of the job profile which will include the job description, specification of
the job profile, specifications of the persons.
2. Moreover, after the selection of the eligible applicants, there will be the test conducted by
the managers of the HR department to test the capability of the selected candidates and
different attributes of the candidates.
3. Apart from the conventional and theoretical method, there will be the conduction of the
practical test which will judges the abilities of the candidates in the aspect of quality and giving
care to the patients (Valentine, et al.2014).
4. A non-clinical and clinical staff of the King's nursing home is endowed with the number of the
activities like managing the data of the patients, assisting the professional doctors, fulfilling the
requirements and need of the patients on a timely basis and taking the decision in the case of
the emergency. All these traits and qualities should be possessed by the applicants
(Chandrashekar and Sahin, 2014).
