development is a life long process and helps an individual in pursuing their ideal job as well as
make informed decisions. it is important for an individual because it enables them to learn better
and improve their overall capabilities. Apart from this, career development also helps in
managing time effectively and reduces the level of staff turnover within the company (Ali and
et.al., 2020). This report is a reflection which is based on career development and learning as
well as high performance individuals and teams. It includes a personal SWOT, a skills audit as
well as a personal development plan (Wyllie and et.al., 2019). Apart from this, it also includes an
evaluation of the various concepts that are associated with career development strategies. Lastly,
the report also includes an evaluation and application of a range of strategies that lead to ‘high

Question 1.1
I have worked as the manager of Housekeeping department in Pembury Hotel in the last
12 months. The job was tough and required me to ensure that right people were hired to do the
right kind of job. In order to hire experienced and qualified candidates for the company, my team
members and I decided to divide different sections so that each of us had only one task at hand.
But, when all of us sat down to divide the tasks, it was analyzed that some of the candidates who
had been shortlisted by some of the team members lacked the experience that was required by
the vacant positions. During this situation, I felt that the shortlisted candidates would not be able
to perform the job. As a result, I got frustrated and stressed about the situation and thought that I
should have taken the responsibility myself and shortlisted the applicants by myself. Since, I did
not have had a chance to meet and interview the candidates, I was not aware of their skills as
well as qualifications. As a result, I thought that they were not the right fit for the company as
well as the vacant positions.
But today, as I manage the same people in my team, I sometimes end up feeling guilty
