Literature review
Concept of globalisation
According to the view point of Axelrod, and VanDeveer, eds., (2014), globalisation is a
process by which business and other organisation starts working at an international scale by
developing international influences. Globalisation removed the boundary barriers and provides
rapid integration and interconnection between all the countries as a result more and more goods
and services are moving easily across the world.
According to the viewpoint of Krugman, (2017), Globalisation has resulted in high
competition which benefits the consumer (both rich and poor)as poor are getting improved
quality at lower prices and rich are enjoying a higher living standard with greater choice and
also it facilitates reach to different branded products. Globalisation also increase the scope for
new ideas and creating many opportunities particularly for service and IT sector. It is concluded
that it is important for every company to provide quality products and services while working at
global level as this helps in increasing organisational value as well as sales of the company. It is
seen in Amazon that they have to do a proper research for meeting goals and objectives of
company in specified time frame. For better results in productivity and efficiency of the
company it is essential that Amazon must work properly.
Need of globalisation in increasing sales of the company
According to the view point of Bailey and et al., (2018), Globalisation is helpful in
integrating world economy, which results in easy transfer of goods and services across different
countries. It decreases control over the international sale and purchase of goods which
ultimately reduces number of rules and regulation and making world an open market.
As per the thoughts of Hopper, Lassou, and Soobaroyen,( 2017), Globalisation provide
new larger market which helps in increasing demand and ultimately increased sales of the
company. Globalisation increases customer as well as provide cheap labour and other facilities
which reduce the cost of production and maximize the profit of the company. For a global
company like Amazon it is important that they should know and analyse market of different
countries it is operating. This helps in impressing more number of customers and providing them
Document Page
valuable products and services. There are some countries where there is cheap labour so Amazon
can operate more labour work from that countries. Such decision require proper market research.
Barriers faced while operating at global level
According to the viewpoint of Baud and Durand, (2012), there are several barriers faced
by companies while operating at global level. Some of these are language barriers, culture
barriers, communication and technology barriers and environmental conservation. It is very
important for companies to work upon learning language and traits of the country in which the
company is operating. Also if an organisation wants to remain successful at global level then it
has to adopt latest techniques and tools that will help in increasing the efficiency and
productivity of the company.
According to the viewpoint of Auer, Borio, and Filardo,( 2017), The different barriers
faced by company while operating at global level are legal issues, cultural barriers supervisory
oversight requirements and political problems. Every company has to follow laws and
regulations followed in the country for avoiding any kind of legal issues. On the other hand,
there are also cases of cultural difference among people. Companies have to work according to
the culture of people in which company is operating. Politics plays an important role in business
operations of the company. Thus it is advisable for managers of the company to analyse political
stability of the country before starting business in that country.
Research methodology
Research methodology is basically a systematic plan for conducting an effective
research. The research methodology used in this project are qualitative as well as quantitative
methods of research and these includes experiments, observation of action , survey and also the
secondary data collected by others ( Festing, Schäfer, and Scullion, 2013). Quantitative research
is basically conducted on phenomena that can be easily expressed in terms of numbers i.e.
quantity therefore uses statical models to explain observation easily. While accomplishing this
project, Qualitative research is also used for analysing various theories and models.
Research philosophy
It involves the way and belief of a researcher in gathering, analysing and using a data
related to a particular phenomenon. It is of two type Interpretivism and the other is positivism.
Document Page
The research philosophy used in the following research is interpretivism as it helps in easily
evaluating data and information in more effective manner ( Belás, and et. al., 2014).
Research approach
Research approach is of two type inductive and deductive. Here researcher is using
deductive approach as main concern is developing hypothesis on existing data and to collect
significant data in detail so as to obtain better result .
Sources of data
Data can be collected from primary and secondary sources as per the requirement. In
Primary sources data is collected for the first time (I.e. not taken from any pre collected data ) by
the help of questionnaire and by conducting interviews. On the other side secondary data is not a
originally collected data of the researcher. It is a data collected from already written published
and unpublished documents, data available in books , journal , articles , and any other source .
Therefore researcher uses both sources to get a better understanding and to compile all the
relevant information ( Beynon-Davies, 2013).
Data collection techniques
To accumulate relevant and reliable data questionnaire is used by the researcher for the
study and it also facilitates timely completion of the given task.
Research sampling
This is the most essential part of any research to select a sample which reflects the true
characteristics of the total population. The accuracy of a research is depend on the size and
correctness of sample ( Florea, and Mihai, 2014). For this research,15 employees ,30 customers
and 2 managers of Amazon are selected.
