INTRODUCTION
For a small business organisation, it is essential to use digitalisation for improving their
products and services easily. It is not about use of software in organisation but it is determine
using creativity and innovative ideas in company. After adapting digitalisation, organisation can
easily redesign their products and services as well as provide effective services to target market
and customers easily (Zott, Amit and Massa, 2011). Advance technology helps in reducing time
factor and minimising wastage which leads to gain higher productivity in organisation. Through
this process, a firm can easily render efficient and effective services to customers. This project
report is based on 3COM PLC which was found in the year 1979 by Robert Metcalfe. It is a
small business organisation and want to adapt digital technology to provide effective services
and products to people. The project report includes aim and objectives of organisation, project
management plan, work breakdown structure as well as a small-scale research.
TASK 1
P1 Research aim and objectives
Digitalisation has positive impact on not only business organisations but also on each and
every individual. For a small-scale business organisation, it is essential to adapt advance
technology for delivering effective quality services and products to customers. This concept is
used by 3COM PLC to improve quality of their existing and new products as well. Through this
process, they can easily attract new customers towards their products, its cost and effective
quality services. Digitalisation is helping to manage small-business accounting, marketing and
communication effects that have been easily resolved by advance features, computer networking
and communication technology to get full advantages of digitalisation developments. Small
business industries should easily consider implementation of advance technology in their
planning process. After using this, organisation can easily create effective operational and
functional activities to get higher advantages in future. Digitalisation is helping to move one step
forward of company's level in competitive market (Teece, 2010).

study based on 3COM PLC.
Background of project – This project report is all based on impact of digitalisation on small
business organisation as 3COM PLC. After adapting these technology organisation can easily

improve their productivity and earn higher profitability from target market. This process helps in
creating positive brand image in customer's mind for a long time. It also provides competitive
advantages from target market as well as higher revenue over effective costing easily. In order to
hold a strong position in market, 3COM need to do major modifications in various sectors like
manufacturing, marketing, sales, accounting, human resource management, etc.
Research Aim To analyse impact and effects of digitalisation on the growth of 3COM.
Research Objectives - There are various objectives of 3COM which are given as follows:
To analyse use and impacts of digital technology in 3COM.
To earn profit and productivity by implementing advance technology in organisation. To know whether technology will help company for longer period (Stokes, Wilson and
Wilson, 2010).
Research Questions – There are various questions that are based on organisation's objectives
which are as follows:
How can organisation use digital technology and what will be its impact?
How can organisation earn profit and productivity by implementing advance technology
in organisation?
Does advancement of technology help the company in their growth?
P2 Project management plan
Project management plan is created by manager to design following inputs from project
team and stakeholders. This management plan basically determines how project is executed,
monitored and controlled in an effective manner. It can be a summarised detailed document that
includes management plans, baselines and other planning documents as well. This project should
have to used as reference throughout project to ensure that management is carried out
consistently with its policy and procedure (Porter and Kramer, 2011). It is includes various
components that helps to getting information of management plan easily. There are various
determination of these elements are given below -
Cost – This is an essential tool of organisation to make attractive representation which
need to be cost effective. For doing this, organisation should use exact software to make
effective documents for their organisation. It is a need for 3COM PLC to introduce an effective
project so finance department approve proper fund for this. For this process, 3COM PLC can

provide effective training to their employees who make appropriate project for organisation
which is consume cost and time. In this process human resources management of organisation
helping to monitor and analyse employees skill for effective project management plan.
Scope – This component is based on value of project management and its scope in
market. It includes all those things which are going to be performed in this project report. For
3COM organisation, it is essential to adapt digitalisation in their organisation to landscape their
business structure and make its vast scope in market. For their electronic products and services,
this project report will helping to providing effective objectives and use of advance technology.
Through this project report, organisation can easily adapt digital technology for improving their
services and product quality effectively. After adapting various technologies, organisation can
easily improve their overall turnover.
Time – Project have to be more effective while performing different activities of
research. For this, 3COM PLC need sot manage all their operational and functional activities
according to timely bases. This process help to reduce extra times factor and burden on a
individual after dividing times to various employees. Times management helps to manage all
business activities in appropriate manner. After managing time factor organisation getting
various opportunities from target market. Employees of company need to manage their according
to time factor to getting higher business advantages effectively. In this process they can take
approx. 25 days to complete a specific task (Peppard and Ward, 2016).
Quality – This component of project management is directly affecting decision making
system of organisation. Quality component is all about effectiveness and outcome of project need
to be appropriate and clear for others. For this organisation needs to adopt various tool and
technique for make them more easier and efficient for all readers. In this process digitalisation
will help to create quality of project without adding additional cost and expenses. For them
3COM need to make specific strategy and planning to make quality of project and create proper
use of them easily. So this adoption helps them to get effective outcomes easily.
Communication – This component is all about communication skill of employees to
management and customers of organisation. This is a only element which is helps to resolve all
barriers and conflicts from organisation. For this some companies are provides training and
learning of their employees to getting effective outcomes. This process also helps to build
effective relation between employees and management. Through this element 3COM can easily

them more efficient. This factors are not changeable but for this organisation can make various
strategies and planning to reduce its negative impact on project management process. For this
3COM ned to evaluate all risk factors of their organisation as well as build a proper plan for
them to make various changes in their planning process. After this planning 3COM can easily
earn effective growth and desired objective without any extra efforts of their management and
working team. 3COM should accomplish this project as soon as possible as more timely will
consume additional revenue (Laudon and Laudon, 2016).
Resources – These are assets of a company which they used to utilize effectively. All the
resources of a company helps to create values and revenue factor according to organisation's
demand. For adapting digitalisation, 3COM requires effective technological resources who helps
to create desired outcomes for company easily. For utilizing these resources, 3COM need to hire
skill and experience employees who can use them effectively. In project management resources
helps to mange all business activity in appropriate manner.
P3 Work break down structure and Gantt chart
Work breakdown structure (WBS) is a organisational activity which is used to reduce
extra work burden on employees of organisation. This is a hierarchical tree structure that outline
project and break it down in smaller and manageable portions. Through this process organisation
can easily divide individual tasks into subtasks. The main object of work breakdown structure is
to make large project more manageable and easy for company's employees. In manager of firm
break down various difficult task to other employees which is helps to reduce time and provides
higher productivity in organisation. This is basically represent in graphical form to manage all
business activities and task in appropriate manner.
For 3COM this process helps to reduce extra work burden in various department from top
to lower one. In this, organisation is using various method to evaluate their employees skills,
ability and capacity to distribute various task. It is help to reduce extra work cost, time factor as
well as employees extra efforts for a specific task. Work divides according to the employees
expertise area and their interested field of working. This is essential need of firm in which
