INTRODUCTION
Career planning or development is the individual strategy which is used to determine the
career objectives and pathway to achieve those goals. It is the integrated process of several
activities includes process of self development and the process of attaining the organisational
goal(Ransbotham and et. al., 2017). For this report, I have chosen marketing profession because
It has the wide scope to get the job according to individual interest. Marketing department is
concern with the promoting the products and services of the company by using various sales
promotion techniques so it require more manpower to operate their functions. There are various
future trends in this profession like Artificial intelligence, Video marketing and social messaging
apps that will helps in expanding the scope of marketing and leads to get the desired job.
Analysis and Application
General trends that is impacting on the retailing industry.
Retailing industry is the fastest growing sector in the economy as people are more often
to purchase several goods and services at a point of time due to busy lifestyle in the society.
There are various tends that are impacting the retaining industry in Sainsbury is explained as
follows:
Social Commerce: It is the common tends by which shopper can make the easy purchase
right from the social media apps or websites instead of clicking on the third party
website. In the current time of COVID-19, It is analysed from the current study that 41%
of the customers are purchasing maximum items form online mode of business in order to
eliminates the interaction between individuals.
Online stores in Offline Spaces: Many brands like Amazon fresh, Casper and many
more are operating their business in online mode, But with the prediction, the needs of
physical stores has been grown and Amazon fresh grocery stores has been launched in the
market so that they can establish a good brand image by serving the large group of
customers (Pisarik, Rowell and Thompson, 2017).
Even More AR-Powered shopping experiences: In today world, people are more
believe in the virtual reality and listens augmented thoughts. Many shopper continue to
shop at the time of COVID-19 as many retailer use the AR technology to fill the gap

between the digital and the physical stores so that digital world is letting the industry to
move towards growth.
It has been analysed from the discussion that retailing industry is the one which continue
to grow at the time of COVID-19 and also several trends in the new market for selling the goods
and services to their potential customers. Sainsbury is using the social commerce in order to avail
the products to their customers with easy approach and also using the AR-Powered experience so
that customers can make the effective purchase and leads the organisation to attain the higher
profitability.
Skills, Knowledge and experience required
In order to get the job in the marketing field in the retailing industry, A individual is
require various skills and knowledge so that they can perform their various job role in an
effective manner with the consideration of attaining the organisational goal(Kolb, Fröhlich and
Schmidpeter, 2017). A capable person is known with the framing of the strategies and the
actions plan in order to successful accomplishment of the various operational activities.
Skills required for the Marketing professional-
An ability to identify the buyer needs and the sales process: For a marketing
professional, It is important to understand the various demand of the prospective
customers so that an organisation can manufacture the goods and services in such a way
that customers can meet the several needs and demand of the potential customer. For this,
the marketer has to do the effective marketing analysis in order to make the products and
services which will fulfil l the needs and wants of the customers.
The ability to communicate clearly, without jargon: In order to be a successful
marketing person, It important to have the good communication skills so that they can
pass the necessary information to the teammates in order to complete the work in an
appropriate manner (Hutchinson, 2018). The communication must be clear with less use
of complicated words that may be not understand by everyone and they misunderstand
the information which leads to conducting of the various task in wrong manner. It is the
process of making the right use of each information when the employees is having the
effective communication.
